I haven't seen any difference between 18x and 19x drivers in DCS, however in IL2 (OpenGL) the performance is noticeably worse with 19x. Additionally, 19x has messed up profile support and so, custom profiles are not always applied to games; global profile works well always. P.S. Windows7 x64, 8800GTS 640MB

DCS Black Shark problem with the patch 1.0.1a

To rule out coincidence, please reinstall BS and try running it without patch applied. If it runs well, then apply the patch and test again. -
BS 1.01A hosting port issue NOT resolved!!!!!
ZaltysZ replied to graywo1fg's topic in Bugs and Problems
Trust me, DCS is not the only program which has problems with such routers. You were just lucky enough not to use any other source port sensitive application. DCS is no more guilty than your router is. Vanilla version of DCS was compatible with NAT in general, however it did not take into account, that some routers could translate ports without being told to do so. In other hand, such routers (their behavior) are uncommon as (you have already noticed) they complicate things and break compatability. With next patch, hopefully, DCS will work even with such routers (or their special "gaming" modes). I wish you luck with your server. -

"Gaming mode" does not have anything to do with priority. As I understand from D-Link's sparse info, it is intended to be used with gaming consoles or games whose use random ports (f.e. DirectPlay nonsense - I am happy it died ). It is not good feature. Despite it frees user from doing complex configuration, it also has nasty side effects. One of them is degraded security due to Full Cone NAT. It may look like "gaming application" includes all games, but if you look at first sentence it says "certain internet games". Confusing description for end user. It is not mode for games, it is workaround for some games. I am behind NAT too. Linux one :) No problems with DCS as my router does not mess source port as yours does. It is desirable that router mapped source ports in symmetrical way as this increases compatibility. Most routers work in this way. If yours does not do that, then try to find why. It might be fault of settings or fault of router logic. If it is the later, then you are bound to run into problems with source port sensitive applications. --- Are you playing over wireless? It can provide enough bandwidth, but latency is too high. Wire is always recommended for games. -
BS 1.01A hosting port issue NOT resolved!!!!!

Both of them are related to automatic port forwarding and may interfere with manual port forwarding. UPnP is supposed to do noting unless asked by software, which requires forwarded ports. Well, of course it is true only if UPnP implementation is not broken. :) What is "gaming mode" is hard to guess, because it is not technical phrase. I think it switches router from Symmetrical NAT to Full Cone NAT. The difference is in how incoming packets are handled. In symmetrical NAT only incoming packets from hosts, to which some packets have been already sent, are allowed. In other words, external host can communicate with internal host only if internal host initiates communication with that particular external host. In Full Cone NAT once communication is initiated, incoming packets from any host is allowed. When we have Symmetrical NAT and do manual port forwarding for port X, then port X will kinda work as in Full Cone NAT. With "gaming mode" everything works in Full Cone NAT. By definition that is all, if you need more details, examine the implementation (run some tests and capture packets behind and in front of router). -
Maybe a gremlin is trying to hide evidence. :D P.S: try to ask the track from other players while gremlin still haven't gotten to them.

Does this router has "Gaming Mode" or UPnP support? Disable them, if this is possible. -

These settings can be used for port translation, but I am not talking about them. I am talking about automatic translation which happens when multiple hosts uses the same port, when sending packets through NAT. So what is present setup? Router + server only? Any other hosts connected to router? How many IPs does server have? -

Look at my post above. You simply have asymmetrical NAT or your NAT does port translation when both your server and gaming rig is running. Just follow the steps I have written, and post the results. -
But this link only shows which card (ATI or NVIDIA) gets higher boost due to drivers by switching from Vista to Win7. It doesn't show which card performs better. It only shows which card performs better when compared not to rival but to itself on different OS. :) Kinda pointless for comparison (it can mean that ATI has done good job exploiting Win7 advantages, or they just fixed earlier mistakes | NVIDIA was lazy with new OS or they simply had no major mistakes to fix - you choose) , however it at least assures, that switching to Win7 you won't get degraded performance when owning either of these cards.

Sounds like your tail was blown off. :) Are you sure you were not hit by MANPAD? Anyway, multiplayer tracks are auto saved to temp folder, so look there.

ZaltysZ replied to graywo1fg's topic in Bugs and Problems
graywo1fg, in another thread you have said that if you forward port to your gaming rig and try to host, no problem arises. Try this: 1)Make sure that DCS is not running on your gaming rig; 2)Forward required port to server and reboot the router; 3)Host the game on server; 4)Ask fellow players to check the server list for announced port of your server. You see, most NATs work in "symmetrical" way. If host behind NAT sends packets with source port X, then NAT translates only IP (internal to external) and leaves the same source port. However, this is correct only with single host. In case of multiple hosts behind a NAT and them all communicating with the same external host and using the same source ports, only the first internal host gets its source ports not translated, source ports of other hosts get translated to random numbers (mostly to 64xxx-65xxx). Looks familiar? Try the steps above. -
Well, some memoirs from Soviet Afgan war mention that second pilots of Mi-8 liked routenely to use AK while sitting in the cockpit :smilewink:

Ask ED for DCS: Mi-8 :)

No need for a new track, you probably already have it. If you are not constantly cleaning temp folder of game, you will find all multiplayer tracks there. File names contain date and time, so it is easy to find right track.
-
Game automatically records tracks, dig inside Temp folder and post the track to us.

You engaged hover mode just after take off or just had power outage (due to rotors not spinning fast enough) or recently did violent maneuver or your altitude was <4m. :)
-
Physics isn't doing that. :smartass: Remember that, lower rotor experiences effects of downwash of upper rotor. Their lift isn't equal.
-
Have you installed the patch over modded version?
-
That setting affects only cockpit, not the GUI.
-

The reasons why some of you get errors launching the game I have already mentioned somewhere in this thread. Basically game look for localized files according to system locale. If your system locale is Spanish and game version is Russian, then you will get errors, because game will try to load Spanish files, which of course are not included with Russian version. :smartass: I had the same problem. My system locale was Lithuanian and game version was Russian. I did not want to change system locale to Russian, so I tricked the game. I copied all Russian files and renamed them so, that they looked like they were belonging to Lithuanian version. Result: system locale is still Lithuanian, but game happily show Russian text and there are no errors. P.S: there are about 400 locale specific files across multiple folders, so manual renaming is very tedious. I have used to a script to do that.
