  1. I have a FFB controller and I used the registry edit to disable it as a FFB as far as the sim is concerned and yes I can use the Magnetic Trim just fine now. In the latest update notes I see there is a reference to possibly fixing the trim bug but I cannot confirm that unless I re-edit my registry and try the trim again. So I am going out on a limb and saying that the trim issue isn't just the Gazelle but affected the trim of many aircraft. Has anybody tried the latest 8/5/16 update to see if trim has been fixed for FFB devices?
  2. I'm very glad I asked, after trying again to bring the power back to idle on the ground and failing I realized the error in my ways. I had the engine starter key set to "ON" vs "Up". So basically I was flying around with the starter in the middle position which will kill the engine the minute you bring the fuel lever out of full forward position. I had assumed this starter toggle switch was spring loaded into the middle position and only needed to be in the Up/Start position for initial start. Thanks for the reply, I can enjoy idling on the ground for hours on end now :)
  3. Using the HOT ATGMs is just way too fun and makes me hope to see the AH-1S in the future. I have little trouble moving between commander /pilot with the auto pilot helpers so hopefully we will not lose this option if multi crew is ever a reality.
  4. I turn on the trim button, the magnetic trim button and the AP button. I use the mag trim only and it works very well. The only anomaly I have found is that sometimes the mag trim is limited in how far it will hold forward pressure. Sometimes I can hold enough forward to cruise around 210 Kph with only slight adjustments to hold altitude and sometimes it will not hold enough forward travel to even allow me to fly at 100 Kph. Not sure if it's a bug or some small variation in how I configured the AP system on the ground. I have found no consistent way to reproduce the situation.
  5. Just curious and this is not based on actual operation, but is it possible to "idle" the engine on the ground say around 30,000 RPM? I was able to do this once after landing but the other times I tried the second I move the fuel control lever back just a bit the engine completely shuts down and I need to restart. I kind of like idling the engine while the helo is rearmed, even if it's not prototypical. Thoughts?
  6. Don't underestimate the power of user skins to sell a product. If it weren't for the USAF Southeast Asia skin I would have never picked up the 86. I don't have the time to try to get Nick's SEA skins working again.
  7. Editing the registry as above fixed the trim issue with my wingman rumblepad. At least now I can fly without having to ALT J all the time. Thanks.
  8. No v-joy on my computer (at least nowhere I could find) Trim still doesn't work. This bug was reported a month ago, it must have some heads scratching.
  9. It's a bad bug and could take a long time to fix., join the club, we meet at the bar.
  10. I would hope the dev's would not consider a bug which renders the aircraft unflyable as a minor one. It might affect only a small portion of the players but for those it affects it's a complete sim breaker. It's worrisome it's taking such a long time to lock this down though. I don't have a choice in the controller I use, I need a small gamepad type controller because I travel for a living, and it happens to be FFB. For now I am holding off on updating to the 7/15 update and using Alt-J to at least continue to fly.
  11. This is a known bug, it's affecting many people with FFB joysticks. They have been working on a fix for some time but so far no luck. If you haven't updated to the latest update 7/15 you can use Alt-J to jump out and then back into your aircraft and the trim should work. It will work until you hit ESC, then you will have to Alt-J again to fix it again. The latest update breaks the "fix" of using Alt-J so you might not want to upgrade until they get this sorted out.
  12. I'm keeping it from updating just to keep the Alt-J fix working, otherwise the sim would be unplayable.
  13. I came back after a 5 month break from DCS with a fresh install on a new rig only to find the trim bug. Alt-J at least worked well enough to fly but now my whole fleet is grounded, wonderful. I'm glad I didn't rush in and purchase the Gazelle and Nevada. Is there an easy way for me to roll back the update and then keep it from updating? (By the way I have only one FFB controller plugged in so not sure if having multiple controllers has anything to do with it)
  14. Known bug that is affecting many aircraft, waiting on patch. Temporary "fix" is to use the Ralt-J command to jump out of and then back into aircraft. This works until you hit ESC.
  15. Same issue. Clean first install latest update. Wingman rumble pad that has worked flawlessly with DCS now ignores trim and goes to neutral. Rudders do react to trim. Workaround Ralt J works for now but is a pain.
  16. There seems to be an issue with trim and the latest update. Unchecking FFB used to work for me but not anymore. What version are you running?
  17. Would be a unique addition, as far as I know the 105 has never been covered well by any combat Sim. For me it would be an insta-buy.
  18. OK, it's a big new bug that is affecting several folks and there is a bit of a work around for now. If you Ralt-J into another aircraft and then Ralt-J back it fixes the problem. I can confirm that the trimmer works perfectly after doing this. ED is working on the issue and I'm sure they will sort it out. It's tough enough setting things up again on a new rig but I stumbled right into this one and thought for sure I or Windows 10 was the problem. Hopefully others that are having the same issue will now see it's a larger bug affecting many of the aircraft.
  19. New install on windows 10, 1.5.4 or whatever the newest is at this point. I am using a wingman rumblepad gamepad, I've been using it with no issues windows 8.1 and DCS World about 5 months ago. I made sure to uncheck FFB in the misc options and the center and rudder trim are unchecked in the special category. When I hold the cyclic into the correct position and press the trim button, I can see the button depressed but the stick always returns to it's centered position. The only two variables that have changed is that I went from Windows 8.1 to 10 and of course about 5 months worth of DCS world updates. The two things I've noticed. If I check trim rudder it seems to affect and trim the rudder fine so at least I know it's getting the TRIMMER command ok. The other thing is that even though I've de-selected FFB in misc my controller is still getting FFB commands from DCS. When I trim I even get feedback as if it's in a newly trimmed position yet it's still going back to it's neutral state. I know this is an ongoing issue with DCS and not necessarily a huey problem but hopefully somebody can give me a few more things to try. Without Trim the huey is just a no go and it seems silly to uninstall over a trim issue.
  20. In the past I have used this very command to allow myself to activate and then jump into the aircraft using the alt-J command. However it now seems to not work. After the aircraft is activated and is starting on the ramp I try to ALT-J into the aircraft while looking at it using the F2 view. I get the message "Unable to enter aircraft, plane control is not available" Bug or new feature?
  21. I haven't messed with the mission editor in a few months so maybe something has changed, but here is my issue. I have always been able to have an uncontrolled unit ie. the Huey sitting on the ramp. I checked it uncontrolled, gave it the unit start triggered action and then linked that to a radio command. I can fly another unit around and then at some point I could use the radio command to start the Huey and then when I was looking at the Huey with the F2 view I could Alt-J and take over the Unit. Now I get an error message at the top of the screen saying I can't control this unit. If the huey is active at the start of the scenario (the uncontrolled box is NOT checked) then I can take over control with no issues. Did an update change the behavior?
  22. Any way of disabling the rotor wash dust cloud?
  23. The TL has been toned down quite a bit and while it's still there can be overcome with much less control input.
  24. ugh. ok
