This may be more than just trees causing issues. The tracking and lock are performing inconsistently in 2.5, there is a thread in the bugs section you might want to look at.
-
You are absolutely right, lock and tracking is now very inconsistent. In the past I would make the tracking box as small as possible and locking onto targets was almost too easy. It didn't seem to follow the manual but it worked and always kept the box as small as it would go. Now it seems that there is no consistency to lock and tracking. I have tried from all differen't ranges and tracking box sizes and sometimes I get a lock and sometimes not. I found that sometimes if I'm zoomed out fully I can't get a lock but the moment I zoom in on the target it locks on without me even pressing the lock button. So yes something has changed in 2.5 It seems we went from easy lock to maybe lock and the truth most likely is somewhere between the two.

Not to take the thread off topic but it seems to me in 2.5 I'm having a much harder time locking onto targets than in the previous versions. In the past I could set the tracking gate to absolute minimum size and one press would almost always lock the target regardless of range. Now it seems that sometimes I can't lock the target at all even at less than 3km. Anyone else noticing this?

Scale of Speedtrees in 2.5
monkie replied to Bananimal's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I can't comment on if the speed scale is correct in game but I immediately noticed that the sense of speed is much slower than before when flying the helicopters low level. If that is due to the scale of the trees I find that very interesting. -
The KA-50 has stood the test of time and is still an impressive module. I am hopeful that ED will update the cockpit lighting. DCS's future is not built around one shiny new module but on the strengths of all of the modules combined in my opinion. Either way I think it's good that customers express they're interest in seeing it updated.

Just found this after all this time, greatly needed, thanks for updating.

Flyable Helicopters Mod, DCSW 1.2.2

Great news, good luck with your work. -
I thought it was the DS that was causing the slowdown in FPS but I think it was more the MSAA. Flying over a forest with DS off gave me a huge hit but with DS on it is now smooth. I run DS on but MSAA off, G-synch and I'm getting 60FPS and only occasional pauses as scenery loads. Yes without DS I agree the tree shading doesn't look right, DS is a must, it's just a matter of them tweaking the lighting effects.

This is the very first Mod I reinstall every time after an update, it's that important. Thank you.

I hope to see a fix soon for the lighting as well. I never spent a lot of time with the Blackshark in the past, I never even turned on the Abris most of the time. However I put in some time the past couple of weeks learning the Abris and data link system and now she is my favorite aircraft at this point. Being able to coordinate attacks with wingmen and fully understanding the complexities of the Abris make the KA-50 shine. She deserves to be updated to fit into 2.5 a bit better.

Thank you so much for explaining the whole full window V-synch/G-synch thing Sideslip. I went back in and disabled V-synch in game as well as turning off MSAA. In Nvidia Control Panel I selected V-synch as well as G-synch on. Also turned on AA via NCP. Entered game and saw my frames were not stable and then Alt-Enter one time and they went to steady 60FPS and the performance was an amazing smooth vs what I was seeing before. I am guessing my G-synch is properly working at this point. Thanks that was driving me crazy before.

I've noticed a huge difference when flying over forests with DS off and on. With DS off I go from steady 60FPS to around 30FPS, with DS on it's a steady 60FPS. This is mainly when looking 90 degrees to the side or looking at the external model from the side.

So is DS absolutely necessary to deliver the new explosion effects? I love the new effect but can't deal with all the other issues of DS as it is right now.
-
With Deferred Shading on I noticed that the external view of the windows are a weird blue and not very clear. DS in general seems to have a lot of issues, sometimes things look good and sometimes they look way off. Hopefully there will be improvement in the near future.

Malwarebytes is blocking that page for me, not sure it's worth the risk.

Flyable Helicopters Mod, DCSW 1.2.2
monkie replied to sammy's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
That would be fantastic! -
Skin look great, very old school and I like the small text message on the engines :)
-
The F-4E skins look great but am I correct in saying that the VSN F-4E will not work in 2.2? Also still trying to find the A-7E model you put out some skins for.
-
The skins look great but where is the A-7 aircraft mod available from?
-
If you think about it "Maverick" never lowered his, only the "bad guys" in they're Mig-28's did it, just sayin.
-
I never lower the visor but I understand how that could be an issue. Does lowering the visor give any advantage to the player?
-
Just wanted to say thank you for the option of leaving the pilots visor up, it is a small detail that adds so much when looking at the exterior views. I wish the A-10, F-5 etc would give us the same option, something about seeing a bit of human face gives the aircraft scale and makes the pilot look less "robotic". Please never change this to the way it works with the other aircraft where the visor is linked to opening and closing the canopy. Great aircraft, the most fun I've had since the Huey came out.

I can't believe I missed that, thanks!
