  1. Now I can't contact any ATC either using the M2000. Even with the correct frequency dialed in I am noticing the radio text in the top right stays black as if the radio isn't properly tuned.
  2. I am unable to get a response from the JTAC on the NTTR map custom misson I created. I've tested the JTAC with other aircraft and it works fine lasing targets for LGB's. I've got both radios on, volumes full, using simple radios and nothing seems to work. Any ideas or tricks to get the M2000 working with JTAC? Running latest Beta, update 6.
  3. I'm late to the party but I really liked the Euro One version, well done, thanks for sharing.
  4. My opinion (and fear) is that if the LF models are a big success that they may concentrate all development in that direction in search of the quickest profit. Of course this might be unfounded and would draw in people who would then "want more" and purchase the HF modules.
  5. I'll agree and say that should result in a hull loss though, the flight model is a bit too forgiving. :) No need for videos, you seem to just want to argue when people are trying to understand what your concerns are. Done.
  6. Ok I have no idea what you are trying to demonstrate, I thought you were saying that there was a roling moment if you only put forward stick in during hover flight but now I see you are putting in full rudder.
  7. no I'm not looking at the track file, I just know that if I push the stick forward from a hover with only 2500 lbs of fuel and 82 degrees of nozzle I don't get a uncontrolled rolling motion as you show. in hover I have to use slight movements of the stick to the left and the right to keep any roll motion from continuing, but I don't think that is abnormal at all. Maybe I'm not understanding.
  8. How much fuel do you have on board when you are trying to hover? Try with only 2000 lbs and about 82 degress and you should do fine. Also make sure you are in VTOL flap mode, and yes it takes a lot of thrust, close to 100% RPM to keep the harrier in hover. As to the OP, I am thinking that trying to have a sim such as DCS mimic both VTOL and high speed flight dynamics is a near impossible task. Even multi-million dollar simulators used for training real world pilots don't properly simulate true aircraft dynamics. It's just 1's and 0's, there isn't real air going over that airfoil in DCS so they have to do they're best to simulate that. Your VTOL example with the aircraft rolling right with forward stick, would be good to see your control inputs. During vertical hover any small amount of in change of the lift vector and the Harrier is going to get a bit unstable and require correction quickly. I for one have never had an issue with the aircraft rolling right as I transition from hover to forward flight so maybe it's a controller issue? What were your nozzle positions and what was the weight during your maneuver?
  9. Now if in the future the pilot has the option of having the flight helmet without the HMS bulge thing. He looks like an escaped extra from some bad 50's horror film.
  10. I'm not the OP so I don't want this thread to drift into another area and yes it seems to me the hornet really gets behind the power curve easy with everything out and requires the engines to be kept spooled during flap and gear extension.
  11. I've been using the game pad for years and I'm pretty damn good with it lol :) Honestly I have no choice since I travel for a living so it's what I have to work with. And forget about the carrier, the Huey or the Harrier to me are the ultimate challenge with throttle control that has about 1.5 inches of total movement. That being said it's very limited in feedback for throttle because the movement is so small, so I try to back it up with other visual cues. On landing I agree watching your E bracket and FPM along with small corrections and trim are primary but I think where I'm wanting some gouge would be other flight regimes. For example in the Harrier I know I can leave the throttle at 69% and know that is a stable loiter power setting as I orbit and work other controls, weapons etc. I"m still trying to find that sort of power setting in the Hornet, because it seems I look up and I'm pushing Mach 1 or else speed is creeping back a bit too much.
  12. I've been using gaming laptops for years, and that is simply because I live out of a suitcase most of the time. The biggest issue is cooling and you want to make sure that the case gives enough room for airflow to the radiator fans. I would steer away from anything that tries to be too "compact". You mentioned "thin" and honestly that would worry me, there is no substitute for good cooling airflow and gaming laptops have to give up some compactness in order to achieve that. My last two gaming laptops have been Sagers and they both have excellent cooling, and when i'm home I place it on top of a metal notebook cooling pad. I have NEVER had an issue with overheating from long sessions. Just make sure if you don't use a cooling pad to slightly elevate the laptop to get good cooling under the case. Also it's imperative that you remove dust from the fans and radiators, something I do once a month at least. They have come a long way since laptops were first introduced as gaming platforms. The ability to carry my hobby with me throughout the world more than makes up for some lost FPS or eye candy.
  13. Gear up take control? a control binding conflict? I'm sorry I don't have the SU-27, is there some type of fix for that?
  14. What do Hornet pilots usually use to a visual reference of power settings? I would think N1 but it's only visible if you have the ENG page up. Fuel Flow might be another, maybe someone has a gouge for FF settings? For me it's kinda tough to feel the throttle because I use a gamepad throttle which is tough to make small corrections with, so I tend to look for lever position in the cockpit or N1/EPR settings.
  15. Very cool and useful option, thanks for sharing the update Zeus.
  16. If you try to take control of any Hornet on the ground, either parked, on the runway, taxing etc using Alt-J the aircraft explodes as soon as the player enters the aircraft. This can be duplicated on both Caucus and Nevada maps on multiple airports. Alt-J into an already airborne Hornet works fine. This might be related to a bug reported where some spawning Hornets in MP seem to spawn into the ground and explode.
  17. Ok so it's not yet implemented, thanks for the answer IvanK. As for what it would do, say you were flying towards an area in CCIP and spotted a target of opportunity perhaps? Designate it and then have it as a reference for another pass? Another question then. Will it ever be possible to be in CCIP mode WITH a target designated? I am thinking one might need the flexibility of CCIP yet still have an area with a target diamond for reference?
  18. Page 91 of the Hornet manual states that when the TDC is assigned to the HUD and CCIP is the current mode for delivering bombs you can designate and slew the TD around (at the same time you would enter AUTO mode). I can assign the TDC to the hud but unable to designate in this manner, is this bugged?
  19. Ok so after running the repair and then using the GUI from Skatezilla and also turning off my Malwarebytes after rebooting I was able to succesfully update to 2.5.2 18736.400 One last question, does this mean that I'm technically running Open Beta now? I might have been incorrect in saying I was using the Open Alpha in the first place since I had updated to 2.5.2 already. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. thanks again for all the help.
  20. Thanks for the quick help guys, I need to read up more before I try to update OA to OB though. Part of me wants to just do the Open Beta fresh install and move things over and uninstall the OA just so I'm working with a cleaner slate. At the moment I'm just happy to having a working sim again.
  21. OK, thanks for all the advice guys. The repair was a success and now I'm just wondering if I should reboot and disable malwarebytes as instructed and then try to update through Skatezillas GUI. Right now the open alpha is at update 4. I guess I just don't understand if I'm at the end of the road with this install and I need to do full Beta install or can I actually update this to become Open Beta?
  22. As for swapping the Open Alpha into Open Beta, can the GUI from Skatezilla do that for me or would I just be best off with fresh install of Open Beta?
  23. Ok, well many of my repaints are in the world folder, maybe everything has changed over the last couple of years and I didn't get the message. It's a bit of a whirlwind of changes over the past year so I'm sure I'm not as current as I could be as to where the new liveries should be placed. I can just copy them over at some point and install open Beta into another folder, and then when I'm done with it all uninstall open alpha. At least I hope that is possible.
  24. Ok thanks SkateZilla, I'll continue with the repair and try again. But it looks like a fresh install of open Beta is going to have to occur, not a fun prospect of moving all my repaints over again.
  25. Thanks for the info, I've coped saved games folder for DCS just in case. I'm hoping the repair can at least get me back to the point where I can update the alpha into open beta. Very frustrating as you can imagine.
