An Autopilot Feature Similar in Huey?
Reksi-Erkki replied to Devrim's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Never thought of that, while the Mi-8 autopilot is doing its job well enough - but yes, having a co-pilot would make sense. And it would make the same sense for any module with co-pilot controls. IMHO it's totally realistic. Without the CP the door guns would have to be AI only too, and who wants that? However, the co-pilot could be a bit more intelligent... controlling him/her with your voice would be awesome. BANK LEFT BANK LEFT! NO, RIGHT! ...fck. -
Create a table with the values ordered, shuffle the contents around a few (~100?) times at random and use the table in sequence? Like a deck of cards. No idea if this can be done in DCS, though, but after the initial shuffle it's very quick to find the next random number, and the same number would never be used again - no need to check for anything.

I did some testing the other night with the tool firefly2442 posted. First, I found the lat/long coordinates for the TACAN beacon in Batumi using the mission editor, converted that into UTM, keyed it into the CDU and slewed my TGP there - the difference was a few meters only. Secondly, I found the airport in Google Maps, placed a pin on the '1' marker on runway 13, converted the coordinates and used that as SPI. Difference was a bit larger, but not excessive - see the pic. Another test at the Inguri Dam gave similar results.

I wonder if it would make any sense to use Google Maps as the background? Has anyone compared the differences between the real world and the DCS map? At least the map would be easily scalable without the need to store huge static images on the device. Probably beacons etc. could be added as map layers.

Half of the Internet seems to be down, even http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com :(

I've been playing with this idea for some time now, using Lino_Germany's beacon map as the background, having the sim export the aircraft coordinates/speed/heading/altitude to show it on the map, clickable airports and beacons, plotting the required course to an airport of your choice... too bad my Android programming skills haven't advanced beyond the Hello, World! level yet. Definitely interested!

Blooze, I had something like this on your server the other night... the virtual stick would suddenly deflect full left, and came back only after moving the actual stick. Must have looked pretty strange - the plane banked 90 degrees left before I had the chance to compensate. Oden was flying behind me and saw it happen a couple of times. It stopped after a couple of minutes though. I know the Ka-50 autopilot is trying to kill you, but so far the Hog has been fairly docile :)

I installed Overwolf less than a week ago and tried it once - so basically I have no idea how it's supposed to work, but at least I got an overlay on the screen. Are you running the sim full screen? Mine runs windowed in order to get the MFDs on a second monitor, don't know if that would make a difference though.

There's a way to keep the mod between updates: please check this post. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1882397&postcount=58 You don't even need to unpack the original textures, it's enough that the modded files are in the new subfolder. Just installed Devrim's new version and everything looks fine!

It was great to fly with you. I have a lot to learn about radio comms... voice, not the sim :) Too easy to just chat away with TS3 and voice activation. Maybe we should use TARS or similar.

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..

Cannot find a TM warthog profile F-15C
Reksi-Erkki replied to Vintovka's topic in F-15C for DCS World
There's one - I haven't tried it though. A bit hard to find as it's under FC2, not FC3. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/250296/ -
I couldn't agree more. I haven't taken a look at the 1.2.8 beta with the diff files yet, but having those button up/down/pressed/released/whatever options in the GUI would be way better than the current need to manually edit lua files. Also, I've been thinking of a system where each controller currently connected would be presented with all the available buttons and axes, and sim functions would be assigned to them - basically the exact opposite of what we're doing now. I like the idea of a global configuration file with as many general controls as possible!

I'm pretty much stuck on the Huey - she's just so much fun to fly, no complex avionics to play with... and, being a geek, I'm supposed to love complex avionics to play with! Also, the campaign is excellent. Haven't completed the Mi-8 or Ka-50 campaigns yet; there's this mountain in mission 2 of the Mi-2 campaign that hates me. A lot. And the feeling is mutual. Too bad I now have to learn to actually hover, with the sling loads implemented in the new beta... I'm gonna have so much fun with my Huey this weekend :smilewink:

That's just mean, guys! I was this close to connecting my VPN, booting up the sim rig and checking the updates... oh well, maybe I'll do it anyway in case it's a double prank.

Spring Sale vs. Bonus System credit
Reksi-Erkki replied to VTJS17_Fire's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
My thoughts exactly. I'll probably buy some modules just for support, no matter if I can use the bonuses or not. But IMHO the deadline could be pushed a bit further away, knowing how the release schedules tend to stretch... and there's going to be a summer sale anyway :) -

Spring Sale vs. Bonus System credit
Reksi-Erkki replied to VTJS17_Fire's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Actually, there is a deadline to use any bonuses received from old purchases, and the deadline is the 1st of June this year. Two months to go. As I already own the current products, I doubt that I'll be able to use those $32 on my account, even if I bought every new release... but it might be possible if the third parties will allow it. The Hawk, MiG-21bis, Fw 190D... they might be released before June. The Render Engine Formerly Known As EDGE? Well, who knows... -
Backer Rewards Section is Finally Here
Reksi-Erkki replied to Charly_Owl's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I don't want to boast or anything, but they fixed mine in 7 hours and 52 minutes... maybe you should have gone for the Express Customer Service reward too :smilewink: -
I had to contact the team to get my email addresses sorted out (I knew that was going to kick back at me), and asked about the alpha access too - they're working on it! I think I'll start holding my breath now, can't wait to fly the Spitfire...
-
I'm thinking of slower acceleration/deceleration when panning the camera, and limited maximum panning speed... perhaps rounded corners when the direction is changed. Am I even close to your idea of 'smooth'? I wonder if a simple moving average filter applied to the mouse input would be enough?

I had the same thing, emailed them last night and they fixed it for me already! Excellent support.
