I have the release button cover and the button itself mapped to one of the engine ignition switches on my Warthog throttle - the ones with on-off-(on) action. Just add the code below into the .diff.lua file. Hmm... an input mod might be required, this should do it: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2185329&postcount=1 Chrome refuses to download the mod tool - works with Firefox, though. I've been using it without problems, but it may not be the same version. Consider yourself warned. ["d3129pnilu3129cd16vd0vpnilvu1"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN19", }, }, ["name"] = "Button Cap Open (for Disconnect Drag Chute)", }, ["d3130pnilu3130cd16vd1vpnilvu0"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN32", }, }, ["name"] = "Drag Chute - Disconnect", }, I have to flip the on-off switch once in the beginning of the mission, it seems that the switch positions aren't properly registered by the sim unless it sees a state change. Same thing with the flaps switch. The fire extinguisher cover/button works in a similar fashion: ["d3026pnilu3026cd53vd0vpnilvu1"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN18", }, }, ["name"] = "Fire Extinguisher Cover Close", }, ["d3027pnilu3027cd53vd1vpnilvu0"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN31", }, }, ["name"] = "Fire Extinguisher Engage", },

I'm using a toe brake axis for wheel brakes - it works, but a joystick handle would obviously be the way to go. Don't have that, unfortunately. Is there any software to convert an axis to PWM for digital brakes? At least the Su-27 could use that... I've pretty much given up with it, can't get to the runway without a blown tire.

I've had the VRAM issue for quite a while now. DCS is using 99.x% of the 2 GB available, and sometimes it crashes to desktop after textures disappear and frame rate reaches single digits. I've seen about 9 GB of RAM usage while flying at the VA server; I did experience some odd crashes while I still had 8 GB installed, but after upgrading to 16 it's always the graphics that fails.

I'm using the Kneeboard Builder app to resize & move the kneeboard around, works great! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=129341

Alt-Tab works for me as well, but only if there's another program running. Helios is enough, or TeamSpeak, or anything really. But if DCS is the only running program (besides the ones in systray), I cannot Alt-Tab to desktop. Have to try Alt-Esc!

OK, I managed to reproduce the problem; the server was running on my laptop. The first repair was performed on a cold aircraft right after spawning, no problems there. I started her up and taxied a few meters, shut down the engine and when the second repair was finished, the aircraft jerked violently and the nose gear got busted. Here's the track, about 2 MB. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32016424/nosegearrepair.zip

When I repair the MiG-21 after a flight (in multiplayer), the nose gear breaks after repairs are finished. Sometimes the gear is visibly bent, sometimes not so obviously, but the light remains off in the cockpit, and usually the nose gear won't retract. I haven't been able to reproduce this in single player, nor have I tried a local server; so far, I've experienced this on the VA server only. I have a track of my latest test. However, it's almost 20 megabytes, and there's quite a bit of fast forwarding to do. I broke the left gear on landing; repair fixed that, but again the nose gear got busted. Has anyone else seen this?

A proper axis would be fine, and it works really nice with the altimeter - however, with the NPP, the endpoints would have to overlap a bit, i.e. you can have a 0 degree course at both ends of the axis, with some excess range left. The total range could be 340...0...180...0...20 or something like that. Just in case the axis is not accurately calibrated. A rotary encoder would (IMHO) be more realistic (no endpoints), but using an axis to set an absolute course would be OK, and probably more accurate too. Assuming that the pots are good.
-
There's an axis assignment for the NPP course as well, I wonder if that blocks the keys/buttons? However, it's... weird. The course needle rotates in a somewhat erratic fashion, and always in one direction only, no matter how the axis is adjusted - and suddenly the direction is just reversed. It's almost impossible to set the course. I'd rather use one of my encoder switches if it was possible. The altimeter can be adjusted with the analog axis just fine!

It's a bug - the sausage isn't rendered at all.

As much as I'd like to join, my flying is still very much on and off. I did enjoy the Ragtag missions, though.

Four different colors are available: green, red, yellow and white. There are separate keys / controller buttons available to reload a new color. I'm using the flare gun to notify others when I'm about to enter the runway (red) and when it's clear (green). During approach I shoot a white flare at ~2 km, then a yellow one when I'm close to touchdown. If I remember, that is :)

Necessary/Recommended Panels for small "cockpit"
Reksi-Erkki replied to Griffon26's topic in Home Cockpits
Agreed. The CDU is a good thing to have for missions with JTAC giving target coordinates. This Android software worked fine for me until quite recently - now it wants an update which I haven't yet installed. Maybe I should pay for the full version... however, I've more or less forgotten the 'hog lately :( -
Nice! Thanks a lot. Doesn't work with the MiG-21bis, but that's probably due to its beta status - there's no sound at all when the air brakes are deployed. A quick test with the Sabre verified that the mod itself was correctly installed. I didn't try other planes yet. EDIT: Sorry, it DOES work with the 21. I probably just didn't hear the beep behind the usual noise in the cockpit...

Here's a PDF, some keycap stickers included For Your Convenience :) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28363421/www_photos/Ka-50%20keycaps.pdf I have a Rapoo E9070 wireless keyboard for the most important keys, and some not so important fit in nicely as well. They're mapped behind a modifier. Using the PVI-800 and the data link keys is pretty easy with this setup.

I'm using the Saitek quadrant with a printed color bar to show the approximate positions for the throttles. I don't need them often, but when I do it has to be quick... The controller axes are linear, and the measurements for the color areas are (in millimeters, from blue to red) 20, 20, 30 and 45 - the stripe is 17 mm wide. Those are Powerpoint measurements, but probably rather close to real ones. I tried to create a custom curve, but the problem was that the in-game throttles don't move smoothly - they have predefined stops and the movement needed between them is rather short. The red handle is for wheel brakes.

+ many. That's essentially what the lua edits are doing now, shouldn't be too hard to add a checkbox in the GUI that would add the function for the button up action.

TM Warthog Keybinds For 3 and 2 Position Switches
Reksi-Erkki replied to Colseg's topic in MiG-21Bis
Excellent work, thank you very much! I used to have a .diff.lua mod for having all Navigation light states on the pinky switch... should work with these: --Alternate Navigation Lights {down=device_commands.NavLights,up=device_commands.NavLights,cockpit_device_id=devices.LIGHTS,value_down=0.33,value_up=0.0,name='Alternate Nav Lights Min-Off',category='Lights'}, {down=device_commands.NavLights,up=device_commands.NavLights,cockpit_device_id=devices.LIGHTS,value_down=0.99,value_up=0.66,name='Alternate Nav Lights Max-Med',category='Lights'}, Haven't tested yet, but it did work in the .diff file :) EDIT: verified to work. -
EDGE would be great for General Aviation simulation
Reksi-Erkki replied to Zakatak's topic in DCS Wishlist
I wouldn't mind having that at all; most of the time I'm flying long distance flights at the VA server anyway, practicing my navigation and general flying skills. Can't remember the last time I've released a weapon  But what I'd really like to see are flyable military transport aircraft: Hercules, Galaxy... and their Russian counterparts, of course. And obviously the possibility to transport troops or vehicles, drop paratroopers... transporting helicopters closer to the AO... There are plenty of ideas in the DCS Heavies thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=103359 I love the idea of human AWACS controllers. -
Thanks! Maybe I should have read the manual now that it's available...

Disappearing textures during online play
Reksi-Erkki replied to ophiuchus's topic in Video Corruption and Related Card Issues
OK, now it's in the log file - I'm running out of VRAM. I just wonder why? 2GB should really be quite enough... log attached. It's at the end of the file. Others (@VA server) were complaining about very low frame rates around Sochi, and that's where my DCS crashed too - all the usual symptoms, but it all happened so fast I didn't even have time to exit the sim gracefully. BTW, I have run the repair already. I have a few mods installed, but none of those should affect the graphics. AFAIK. dcs.log.zip -
That's part of their training.
-
I can verify this as well - Su-27 lights don't reflect off the ground, F-15C lights do. Tested at the VA server, both aircraft in Sochi. Su-27 on the apron, F-15C in a hangar.

Exactly. A multiturn pot for the trim wheel and flaps would be excellent! In the Mustang, I have the flaps mapped to a lever on my Saitek throttle quadrant, and trims onto three separate pots on a DIY controller - won't get much more realistic than that. The two remaining levers on the Saitek are used to adjust the cold and hot air intakes. I'd really like to see this changed for the Bf109 before it goes out of beta.
