  1. I had a short flight with the Mi-8, but had to bail out due to controller settings being all messed up... probably not enough time for the graphics problem. It takes around 20-30 minutes to happen. My frame rate was way lower than in fixed-wing aircraft, though. Maybe that's a problem with the module itself.
  2. I've been getting this at the VA server after the latest update. CPU & GPU temperatures are OK (55C & 65C max, respectively), but video RAM usage is at ~100% immediately after getting into the cockpit... and that's 2GB of it. Graphics at mid/high settings. So far, it has happened in the Bf109 & Warthog. It starts with the fonts (and TAD symbols) getting all garbled, then textures start disappearing and finally there's a whitescreen. Soon after that it's crash to desktop. I'm fairly sure this is a bug.
  3. I would, if the motherboard supports it. It's worth a try anyway. I had problems with 6GB after losing a memory module. With my current 16GB, I'm seeing around 9GB used with Helios, TIR, TeamSpeak2 and DCS running. That's in multiplayer at the VA server. However, Win7 likes to use memory if there's some to spare (and that's good!), so the numbers might be lower with less memory installed. I was flying happily with 8GB for quite a while.
  4. Congratulations!
  5. That actually happens in RACE07 - those wipers are there for a purpose. In open-cockpit cars you can tear off strips from the visor :)
  6. OK, that's the cause for the electrical problems then... I guess I didn't use the kneeboard yesterday at all, because the problem only appeared today. Also, even if I assign TAB for multiplayer chat, it doesn't stay assigned. Maybe I'll delete the diff.lua for keyboard and try again.
  7. I have a piece of plexiglass on top of the LCD - it fits snugly inside the bezel. The MFDs are attached with 2-sided tape. It used to be glass until the cat decided she didn't like it that much... got a little shard in my foot several months after the little incident :(
  8. Feel free to use the Finnish Air Force skin!
  9. Automatic update, perhaps? I really like this software, by the way. The vanilla kneeboard is unusable. I have a dual monitor setup with the MFDs glued onto the secondary one. Now if someone would come up with a similar solution for the F10 map...

  11. I fixed mine with Sugru. Can't adjust it anymore, but don't need to, either.
  12. Works for me as well. LAlt-Space to center, LCtrl-Space for precision mode. Or the other way around. Quick to access anyway. I wonder if fullscreen / windowed modes behave differently? I'm running DCS in windowed mode.
  13. This looks pretty much what I need - any progress lately?

  15. Got the Sabre, thanks for the tip!
  16. It's just another type of a compressed archive, try opening it with e.g. 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/)
  17. I use two potentiometers in series, 47k and 1k - the 1k pot is for fine tuning. Works pretty well.
  18. Have you seen this? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/dev_journal/lua-export/
  19. While I'm not currently flying with Blooze's squad, I can easily recommend it - easy going people with plenty of expertise to share, and nobody ever seemed to get annoyed with the Eternal Newbie asking the same question over and over again.
  20. I'm pretty sure I have the schematic printed out at work, but you'll have to wait until Monday... can't find the original anymore :(
  21. These work for me, added in the keyDiffs section of the "Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {<some long ID number}.diff.lua" file. I have this mod installed, don't know if it's needed or not... Flaps: ["d3001pnilu3002cd9vd1vpnilvu1"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN22", }, }, ["name"] = "Flaps Up", }, ["d3003pnilu3002cd9vd1vpnilvu1"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN23", }, }, ["name"] = "Flaps Landing", }, Throttle Idle/Start (using the right throttle lever): ["d313pnilu311cdnilvdnilvpnilvunil"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN29", }, }, ["name"] = "Throttle to IDLE", },
  22. Finnish, obviously. Not just because 99.93% of the World's population would be unable to read it, but the translations would be absolutely hilarious! EDIT: what is this poll for, anyway?
  23. With experience from two Asus motherboards - one (P8Z68-V Pro & i7-2600K) in my current sim rig, another (Z77 something + the cheapest i3-2xxx) in the server - I would definitely get something else. They've both had their problems. The gaming mobo sometimes just fails to boot and starts a boot loop, which can be cut only by clearing all BIOS settings. And the fancy automatic overclock function will, in most cases, end up the same way... so I pretty much have to use static clocks and just keep them that way. I'm running the i7 at 4.3GHz at the moment, so it's quite OK in that sense. Even the slightest memory overclock will fail, but that may be the memory causing the problem, not the mobo. The 1600/CL7 RAM is fast enough anyway, I decided to go for a low latency instead of higher clocks. The server sometimes just freezes (ESXi 5.1, and that should really be quite stable! I've run a system with the same version for two years now) and after a reboot the boot disk order is all mixed up... no idea what can possibly cause that. Even if the freeze was caused by the OS, it's totally unacceptable for the mobo to lose its settings. I'd go for MSI or Gigabyte, but my choice would still be Intel and Nvidia for the other main components. Had enough with AMD graphics drivers in the past :(
  24. ...aaaand I'm back to my usual only-a-little-unhappy state. Good move, ED! Didn't care about the alpha access that much, but if I can eventually get my Spitfire... it's still going to be hard to decide on the second plane, though :)
  25. I pledged $50 too, and I'm not very happy about this.
