  1. Profet, got your PM here look at this track APpr1mal.zip
  2. Well, looks like the OP just refuses to follow directions. I've ALLREADY told this guy what to and not to do.
  3. Don't think 1.2.xx/1.5.xx or 2.xx matters in terms of CAS. All cas channels must be ON for AP to work regardless of which version of DCS you're running.. This in turn mean all three lights must be extinguished on the warning panel.
  4. I'm sorry need to re-itterate what I meant. You need to be in "NAV" mode not weapons mode in the hud.. When you open the Fuel port, it will switch from either waypoint or ILS to tcan. at that point it should have a steering cross that you will follow to arrive at the tanker.
  5. You were not blinded by CHAFF! you were blinded by EOS LAZ Range Finder!
  6. are you talking about guidance or the whole kitten caboodle of missiles in general? or are you talking just specifically on the r27? Through my own source[ex eagle driver] involving the aim120b that a 20nm shot would require an extremely High Alpha perfectly timed maneuver to avoid. Yet in game it is a very LOW PK% shot. While I certainly DO not have any real world info on the RU missiles. I do have access to someone who has SHOT the Nato missiles and currently they do not perform in game like real life. But I do want to mention that we cannot expect ED to be able to get anything "perfect" there just is not enough information available to do so.
  7. you need to be in Nav mode on the HUD. press 1 key. In there if Tcan is selected should give you a steering cross on the hud. Follow that. Or so that's how I understand it. I haven't tried finding a tanker in a very long time so when I get home from work tonight I will give it a try and see what I come up with.
  8. Why are you messing with CAS? you want the three cas lights to be off in the right light panel. If any of them are on you cannot engauge AP. By the way. you cannot turn on autopilot by selecting altitude hold first. It is a two step procedure. first step is Attitude hold which I believe should be A on the keyboard. then you turn on Altitude hold if you need straight and level flight.
  9. While I am just grasping at numbers here but I think I can safely assume. 90% of all autopilot not working problems are linked to the joystick. With that being said. The fix is to add a deadzone to the stick's axis in DCS settings. The reason the stick is an issue is that it does not center perfectly and causes a slight input constantly and DCS sees this input. Thus AP will not turn on if there is input in the stick. To resolve this, you add a deadzone and thus dcs no longer sees the input and bam AP works. If it doesn't well not sure m8.
  10. Hard to tell what level of proficiency some one is at. By your statement of progressing with S/A then my advise would probably still be of help towards your learning. Best of luck. P.S. While I can see your desire for stated plane. Unfortunately, this is the internet and people will short hand everything and either expect or just don't care if someone knows what they are referring too.
  11. If you're fresh and just learning then read this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=150315 While I don't agree with the guide for reasons of realism, how ever for this game/sim it is the way to play.. As another member has stated. if Units of measurements are stated in imperial then they most likely are flying the eagle. if they are in metrics then they most likely are flying a RU either su27 or mig29. I think the best advice I can give you, "if you're new to this and have no prior knowledge of a2a combat" is to not Press into the heart of the engagements. Rather stay back and let a lone target come to you. This will make him more likely to make a mistake. Don't try and get the kill no matter what. Since this will lead inevitably to you dying more then you getting kills.. It truly is better to run and stay alive. What this does it let you learn what to do. As you learn more and able to fight closer while staying alive you can then start pushing in further. Ohh and get TACVIEW. it's a must on figuring out what happened. If you don't have it just for warning in some servers like the 104th they do not allow direct export for tacview to record the flight. So after you leave you need to go to replay in the main menu and replay that flight. It will then export it to tacview for debriefing.
  12. Generally in med prf if I'm that close.. I have had multiple times been unable to Lock a target that is cold. If they turn into the flank or head on never have the issue of locking them.
  13. Hard choice there cyber.. Since I don't fly the flanker I can only tell you what I think in regards to flying against them.. While My burn through on ECM is 21nm head on. I have seen a tail chase ecm emmiting target fail to lock at 10nm which if they did not have ecm on at that time they would have died. 50kalt m2+ gives me a HIGH %pk shot on sub 10nm tail chase targets. Think of it this way. If you're running from me and are ground hugging and I lock you at 10nm and start diving [to keep lock] I will be firing at @ around 8nm due to my GS vs yours. In that version unless I allready expelled my aim7s I will be firing those and compared to the aim120 in those senrious I have yet to see the aim7 miss. Say it does miss. I will be firing another missile at less then 4 nm and it will not and by the time it hits I probably will be @ sub 20k and with in aim9 range. What I'm saying with me at least if you have ecm on and I can't lock you in a tail chase you just saved your life because at 50k ft and my speed I don't have time to lock you any less then 10nm due to the radar cone passing over you and you disapearing from my radar and not worth nosing over as that is risky. I then just carry on my merry way diverting to keep from over flying you and putting you in my 6o'clock position and jamming an et/r77 up my tail pipes. [update to my own thinking. People have mentioned not being able to lock in TWS, and while I'm not sure if I have tried locking in RWS mode as I normaly am in TWS even when I plan to use aim7s. Humm will have to try just while in RWS to lock. You may ask why am I locking a target in TWS when using aim7s. This is for pre fire lock so as not to "warn" my target of the impending fire. once target is bugged in tws I will just either switch to rws which switches lock to STT or bug target again which switches to STT]
  14. No problem.
  15. Not sure where it is but yes. there is engine fire extinguishers in the f15
  16. There is none, just think of the fire as a purty emergency beacon!
  17. The data that is sent is computed trajectory. I.e. if nothing changes [the aircraft is maintaining its current flight path either turning or going straight etc.] it will be Here when the the missile arrives at terminal guidance. D/Mlink antenna is in the rear or at least it is in the aim120 from the technical drawings I have seen.
  18. the "RC" market uses Piezo only gyros or so thats what I have seen when I was flying RC Helicopters. I'm sure there might be some diff tail lock gyros availible that isn't piezo but I'm sure they cost deniro. Again, last time I truly looked into the GryoMarket has been some time ago. Things costs etc may have went down considrably. I remember the cost of my first Gyro when I was learning how to fly RC Helis [quite flying them because they are a PITA and cost too much to fix] and that thing cost well over 200 bucks and this was early 2000's
  19. Glad to hear.. Yes I would say on average it takes atleast 2 120's to make a kill.. BTW aim120B's have a 2stage propulsion and seem to be a bit better in "closer" ranges. Might be due to the more surface area of the control surfaces or due to the second stage boost. Not sure. On a side note, [havent been doing it lately] I carry 2 aim7s. Those buggers seem to be B/A when dealing with targets doing High AOA or weird offset angles. But you need to be "CLOSE" sub 8nm. Or STUPID HIGH Stupid FAST and keep your nose PURE!
  20. You need to look at the right side warning panel. when you activate AP you get a light. Well you get one for autopilot which it is attitude hold, then a second one for altitude hold. if none of these are lighting up or briefly turning on then off. You should add a Deadzone in your pitch/roll axis in settings. Most likely this is the cause of your trouble.
  21. My apologies wasn't sure how you were referring to that line of questioning. It was my understanding that the "M-link/datalink" or how ever you want to call it was powered/transmitted by the same POWER & Antenna as the illuminator [combined and outputted through a klystron tube]. Regardless of that fact even then which I was not even considering at the time would be the receiver[for mid course update] of the missile it self. News to me, never looked into it. Thanks for the info No, I did not INVENT my own definition of INS. Please do go back a few posts and read what I have said when I replied to someone asking what INS is. I've never seen any reference to any mention of a gyroscope whether it be electromechanical[unlikely size weight and complexity] pizo[MEMS again unlikely as its not exactly accurate enough] or ring laser. I have how ever seen many of times the reference to the accelerometers in both technical drawings and litrature. I did how ever do more research and found listing to a IRU which is reference to INS.[all of this was in research of the aim120] While I'm probably wrong and you're most likely right. You can still do guidance with out a gyroscope and just accelerometers. it is just not accurate couple it with SARH/ARH it doesn't have to be accurate to the ft when terminal guidance is intiated. The reason I have considered this more true is the fact all INS systems require an calibration time each time it is turned on. [think of the a10c when you have to wait 4 minutes.] I could be mistaken and any time a missile is loaded on the aircraft and that aircraft is powered up it will too power up the missiles INS and sync to the aircraft's own INS system. Not sure. What I can do is actually text a IR f15 pilot and ask him specifically about this and update this when he does. My apologies honestly thought you were thinking datalink for MCG was on the same system as [sorry don't know what the russian DL is call so Im just going to say] link 16. Any referance to how radio correction is transmitted on the mig29? I'm assuming the r-27r has an antenna at the rear like that of aim120 for MCG
  22. Speed, I do apologize, if I might have "connected" your thread with it being plastered but I've seen several posts in other threads linking to a rudder issue. Maybe it was some one else. So if I'm wrong I do apologize. I don't have time to look back at the moment due to being at work. How ever it might have been the FPS drop issue with rudder pedals that I was noticing being "plastered" so if it was again I apologize for the statements I made.
  23. if the missile gave a "a I exploded message" as the detonator on the warhead goes off would be a great update in SA also. It would mean either the missile hit or atleast is no longer in flight. I still say unless the Missile has a full blown INS and or GPS to give its exact position in 3d space, the missile giving feedback on "where it is" is relatively useless if it's position is not precisely where it thinks it is. Again, if this where the case if it had a full INS/GPS+2-w|Datalink it should not need a SEEKER head since the host aircraft would be able to supply fully where it should be to achieve a hit. or so this is how I view it.
  24. Well, then if you meant it as "it's in there but I don't know why" then maybe just state it so.. I wasn't trying to really cause an issue with you.. I was merely stating how I read and react to some of your responses. you stated "it is there for an important reason". In reading this, it states you know why its there but for what ever reason you choose not to disclose this as if placing candy in front of a toddler in a clear jar that's sealed and the toddler can see it but can't obtain it. It gives the impression you're just arrogant. So please don't take this as an attack but take it as this is how I perceive you. Maybe we can get along better if we understand how we both meant our presentation of information.. Dunno. I'm taking the strides to get along maybe you can take the journey also Or not what ever. Balls in your court.
