  1. it does have "auto-trim" but it only trims to 1g flight. So if you're rolling to the heavy side and do not exceed 1g it is in trim at least according to the CAS! :P
  2. flaps are dependant on speed not weight or armament. Leading edge flaps on the su-27 are computer controlled and no user input is needed for them to activate [other then moving the stick in normal operations] Flaps and I'm not sure about the su27 but most likely have an auto retract above XXX amount of speed. In the f15 flaps will retract at 250kts. If you leave the switch to flaps down and drop below 250kts they will auto extend and again will auto retract above 250kts. I don't suggest doing this combat situations as if you're in a turning fight and they deploy you will slow down even faster. Same thing if you're flying HIGH and slow down and they auto extend you will slow down even faster and can stall, since in thin air the flaps will only hurt and will not provide any additional lift that will out weigh the drag created. I'm pretty sure the su27 is in the same boat as far as how the flaps auto retract/extend. With that being said, they should be used in almost every landing as soon as they can be extended. How ever in strong gusting cross winds or in emergency over weight landings then they can be left up to prevent unwanted speed bleed.
  3. Not "exactly" true. How ever because of Proximity triggers you may have kinematicly evaded the missile from a DIRECT hit it will still not keep you out of fragmentation range. BTW the Sr71 fleet kinimaticly evaded all several thousands of missiles that were fired at it.
  4. Id say it's not like the Falcon, its not a US designed fighter. It's french. Maybe the french enjoy the snake :P
  5. Umm in all technicality it is.. You're in First person and you're shooting.
  6. Now if you look at this picture, and this is what I'm thinking you are considering how it looks. Unfortunatly it does not look this way.
  7. as SD said you're miss understanding things. Radar is not a small concentrate dot. It spreads with distance no matter what mode you're operating it in. From what you're saying I think you think radar is on the same relm of a laser beam under focus. How ever A laser beam will do exactly the same thing as radar and spread with distance. The nice thing with a laser is that it can be focused using a lens. As far as I know RF cannot or to an extent that light can be. As you can see I used me 3w laser in my basement and set the focus to show the spred comprible to what a radar would be. I do apologize for my hunting gear being on the floor but I was sorting it this afternoon. As you can see on top of that spread you can see reflection coming back in all directions. Say your target is in front of that box by say 1mile [need to think in scale] and the box is a cloud of chaff try and find your target.
  8. Sorry When I started to respond I hadn't fully payed attention to what was going on in the thread. so I was just replying to your question in a vague sense since I did not know at that time if there was any other possibility to explain what was going on.. Turns out my Post[i had read the thread in its entirety] played exactly on what I said. Sorry for the confustion, It was just a statement meant to designate I am answering with out knowing 100% what was going on at the time.
  9. not paying attention how ever... If there is enough wind to register on the pitot it will show up on the hud. Air speed indicators are based on ram-air pressure and not like a car which is dependent on rotational gears. but the Pito system on the f15 cannot read speed from 0-20kts so when there is no longer enough ram air to register it will show 20kts. Same reason the Su27 shows 90kmph when stationary this is also why as you go higher in altitude your speed drop yet your ground speed either raises or stays the same. So you could be traveling 600kts over the ground but only showing an airspeed of 300kts
  10. Just because your radar is rejecting the return from the chaff does not mean your missile is able to do so either The image below is sort of what a radar return looks like when chaff is also being illuminated. Imagine that this ball in the image below is the size of a KC130 or bigger your missile could easily miss if following any point but the one leading to the target. Unlike the Jet that has much bigger/better computing power to filter out all the false returns. Keep in mind, that a Radar illumination IS not a pin point beam it is a cone and spreads with distance. Chaff is designed to REFLECT as much energy as possible. So it will look much larger with less energy then that of the targeted aircraft.
  11. Yes it does but ONLY for the a10c module. any other module you cannot do that.
  12. This is correct, if you bind the throttles through dcs and have no software you cannot do multiple things. [how ever with the TM warthog it is plug and play for the a10c like that and only the a10c] as Detroit said, I too also bound my microstick with an axis in DCS and also do not use external software. if you use the software I think it essentialy blinds windows/dcs to what is on the stick and is why you can't bind an axis.. Maybe go and see if you can "remove" the microstick from the software so windows will pick it up as another joystick then you can bind an axis to it in dcs settings
  13. I've never used the TM Cougar. How ever if the microstick is reconised as a joystick in windows then you can assign an axis to TDC in DCS. It's how I have it done on my TM warthog throttle. I had my TM joystick trim hat at one time set for the tdc which would essentially just be like pressing the keyboard [not on an axis] and it was extremely docile when moving the tdc curser. come to think of it, it was TOOO slow and why I moved it to my throttle so I could set it to an axis. Best of luck not sure what to tell you tbt
  14. yes agreed but against AI I prefer to have them launch an ET. easier to counter requires less maneuvering to counter. Also seems easier to see also.
  15. Not exactly, thats only 3nm further and it's not exactly a 90* pitch up either when against the shuttle.
  16. I just watched your tacview, your ground speeds were IDENTICAL. he also launched an ET at 14nm against a NON manuvering target. You were not "snaking" you were doing that hotline bling music video impression. basicly it looked like you were rocking your wings and that was it. You waited way to long to fire. you didn't use countermeasures. your first issue is that you were targeting the su25s which well are not a priority threat. The 27s are. Second because your speed vs theirs was about equal they got launch authorization before you[with the ET] third again no counter measures were taken [and the ET was in plain view with its huge smoke trail]. 4th you did not maneuver. So here is my tacview of your mission once I took control due to desync issues the replay wont work. basicly, I went to 25,000ft mach 1.5 launched at ~14nm [2nm after the lead su27 launched his ET which I saw the smoke] I locked up & launched at all 4 targets because I could not get the 27 singled out. in MP I would not have been so brazen but I was not "hard" locked so I knew only an ET was on its way. It took only a slight jaunt with some flare. I knew my 4 missiles would end up causing all of them [which they didn't] to go defensive. at that point I would search for the 27s. if you look at the Tacview you will see that I dropped lock and then picked up again, this was me searching for the 27s, I had seen the first one get hit, which I did know was the 27, when I launched my 5th aim120 that was at the 2nd 27 which at that point had been hit also. Btw I watched all 4 missiles hit all 4 targets and my jaw hit the floor when that su25 just keep flying. ops.zip is the Op's tacview of his flight tacview.xxx.zip is mine Tacview-20151224-032155-DCS.txt.zip ops.txt.zip
  17. I have no issues with a fully loaded f15 getting up to m1.1-2 on the deck. how ever my discussion was ~20k ft how ever 30+[9km] is where you can really get the eagle moving..
  18. it does, but don't see many people going m1.6 at 20,000ft. I have seen people at SL going m1.2 maxed out. Most people in the 20,000 ft are not in burners. They are traveling at transonic speeds. While those at SL are also due to fuel consumption reasons. How ever available thrust is much higher then that of someone at 20,000ft transonic. Ground speed is negligible in these engagements. anyways Looked at an tacview Iascatg is flying at 22,932ft agl Mach .97 with a gs of 580kts while hatchitman is flying 3748ft agl Mach.87 with a GS of 558kts that's a 22kts difference which is Negligible Santi is flying 554ft agl Mach 1.05 with a GS of 688kts Skyrayfox at 24kft agl Mach 1.27 with a GS of 747kts 59kts difference, again negligible Vs me at 44,000ft agl mach 2.13 with a GS of 1217kts thats 529kts faster then Santi. This is what I'm trying to get at. 20kft is negligable as far as missile launch peramters are concerned.
  19. F15c does not have a radar altimeter. No option to set qnh. Yes f15 pilots fly with NVG. How ever FC3/f15c is based on mid-late 80's f15c and those pilots did not have NVGs
  20. OK, I need to put my input on this. Mach vs mach from fl20 and SL the SL plane will be moving faster. Groundspeed is king when talking about launching. If an aircraft is doing M1.2 near sealevel and an aircraft going the same Mach at 20,000ft the GS of the lower plane will be higher as will its IAS.[unless we add in winds] So what i'm getting at is flying at 20k against a target on the deck is not that much advantageous in launching perameters only in fuel consumption. It's not until you're in the fl30+ with a much higher M and GS. that the lawn mower looses out in missile launch perameters. [originally had Energy but that's wrong.] BTW M1 at SL is 661kts m1 at 20k is 614kts
  21. Yes, as far as net coding is concerned all missiles are controlled by their clients pc and not the server. So if that client reports a kill to the server then that player dies regardless if his computer shows he affectingly survived. This is generaly true for all computer games. Servers act as an mediator shuffling data from client to client but for the most part servers do little computing.
  22. Just ran testing TCAN is BUGGED! It will give you correct distance to tanker but WILL NOT give you directions to tanker. The steering cross will give you a course to follow if you are directly behind the tanker and it is flying away from you. [btw to make it switch fully to tcan once you're in tcan mode press 1 for nav mode again and the hsi will alter to a course for tcan] So, If the tanker is heading 270. and is 30miles north of you. the steering cross will steer you to course 270 which will put you parallel of the tanker and still always 30nm away. Say the tanker is heading 270 and you're directly infront of the tanker and need to head 90* to close into the tanker. Nope tcan will make you turn 180* to *270. So currently if you want to use tcan you have to be 100% on the same course and directly behind the tanker for tcan to guide you straight in!
