  1. November in your track you forgot the inverter switch.. It's the switch right next to the apu gen switch in the middle top of the electric controls. With out that every cold start you try will be the same.
  2. I just ran a test. If you do not wait for the apu to hit 100% before moving the throttle to idle you will never get it working.
  3. The a10 has two extinguisher tanks tied togther. When one pulls the T-handle you open a valve that leads to its corresponding engine. The selector switch selects which bottle you will be using. This system was not implemented to be able to extinguish fires in multiple engines. Rather it's designed as a backup in case the first shot is not effective in extinguishing the fire. Or if re-ignition occurs later in the same engine. If you're dealing with a double engine fires I would suspect a punch out is suggested.
  4. I know you said inverter apu and apugen is on how ever you did not mention whether or not you actually have power.. Will the CDU/MFDS/HUD ect turn on? Is it possible to jump the gun with the apu.. If you start spooling before the apu has fully spooled up. If memory serves me right the apu will not generate enough power to do anything if its under 100%. with that if it is modeled in game by moving the throttle to idle before apu its fully spooled you then allow bypass air to the engine robbing the apu of a chance to fully spool.
  5. Yup.. give me 12 aim-9xs and Ill go turning the dcs RU philosophy against it self.
  6. Are people not able to count or am I seeing ghost images.. I count 12 amrams on that Bug! humm hold on a second! they are not all the same missiles.. 6 aim-120s and 6 aim-132s?
  7. I brought this exact issue up a few times.. Reguardless of low power or high power mode. RWR is not triggered by signal strength perse'. it is triggered by frequency specific wavelengths above the noise floor. If there is enough energy for the emitting aircraft to receive and calculate telemetry then the targeted aircraft has way more then enough to calculate a spike. Anything above the noise floor can be considered a spike. The question is how long above the noise floor is actually not rejected as a erroneous. I've made my case and some have said that it's rejected. In my opinion rejected signals should only be in the pico seconds. a radar sending a long enough burst to do telemetry is going to be above the noise floor much longer then true erroneous spikes. just my .02
  8. Speaking for the f16.. I thought when an f16 is placed in an Alert status isn't the plane put in a "special" mode for this? I thought I read somewhere that an INS alignment is performed then stored and either put in a sort-of sleep mode or left on ground power? I would assume the f15 is the same also? Might be asking my SME this question soon.. got me curios now.
  9. Airquake as described by Adam's dictionary. any time Sweep kills Scorch there is a Violent burst of hot air in all directions! :music_whistling:
  10. Both sides have an argument.. So here is my view on both sides take it how you will.. The argument against having fc3 inside of DCS is that those who fly fc3 can get in the plane have it loaded and airborne in roughly 3 minutes.. give or take a minute... This can be very aggravating when you're flying a full fidelity aircraft that takes double to triple the amount of time to get airborne if not quadruple[talking about proper INS ETC]. This is especially more irritating when you are constantly being pestered by one person who is clearly not skilled enough to be a real threat, but is one due to the time it takes him to re spawn and be back at you. By the way I am guilty of this.. Got shot down and was back in the fight with a new aircraft in ~5 mins. In the case of the f15 once you're in the aircraft and it spawned armed I can be moving in 30-35 seconds airborne in a minute. All it takes is getting the first engine spooled and you're rolling while spooling the second and turning on power and pre setting radar while taxing to runway.. Some people will just take off on the taxi way while the second turbine is still spooling. in those cases you can be airborne in well under a minute. The argument you guys are making is that they paid for them and should be able to use them is sound. In my opinion the times from startup till airborne for FC3 aircraft should be altered to reflect the times it takes for the real aircraft. In the event of a shoot down there should be a "cool down" period before re spawn is permitted.
  11. I know you set a deadzone on your stick. could it possibly be your rudder peddles might need a deadzone also? I would also check every axis to make sure its not double assigned.
  12. I agree with sweep and GG. I would love to have it how ever there are more important things that need to be addressed in the eagle first.. like WHERE IS MY SUPERSEARCH
  13. I personaly have never been hit by an aim7 or aim120 for that matter that has been silent on my rwr. I know that that an missile launched HOJ should be Fire N Forget but we are talking about DCS here. Since the Aim120 goes active when it should not. From what I've been read that if someone launches in HOJ you will get an alert on the rwr either a hard spike I'm amusing if launching an Aim7 immediately or the aim120 when it goes active. While I'm a bit proactive with my jammer if I get a prolonged lock while jamming I will turn it off then turn it back for fear of the HOJ shot. How ever I'm curious if the Aim7 requires a constant HOJ lock for it to continue tracking. since as stated above it is DCS we are talking about.
  14. You can only launch a missile in HOJ mode with radar on. To enter HOJ mode you will use the VSD[radar screen] and lock the strobe[the vertical set of dashes] this will set the missile to HOJ and then you can launch. Keep in mind you cannot not IFF a friendly that is Strobing so you could end up killing a friendly. Maddogs are not stealthy once launched. As soon as you command launch the radar on the missile is active alerting anyone in front of it. How ever... It can be stealth employed by sneaking up to a bandit radar off and launching.. Tws= Track while scan. An enemy can see you are emitting radar in his direction but does not know if you have him locked or have fired on him[if firing a aim120] as far as you being shot down.. Those shots were most likely launched in TWS mode. Again TWS is a software lock. Thus means that radar signal does not change and will not alert tews that you're being locked or fired upon. Only time you will know that you've been fired upon is when the aim120 goes active when it is 8nm away from its intended intercept point. Now, as far as HOJ shots & alerts are concerned I'm not sure but those should never alert the target aircraft because the missile should never be emitting any radiation it is a pure passive mode. How ever in DCS it is my understanding that the aim120 will go active. I'm also curios with the aim7 if you break HOJ lock will the missile go dumb? That is for someone else to answer as I don't have a clue
  15. I wouldn't say they are worse then AI, I just caught them with their pants down and unable to do anything about it.. Like I said those long distance shots were against targets that were probably stupid heavy and in max rate climb in thin air. I.e. =/<300 kts. Doesn't help their cause either when I'm launching at ~50k M2+
  16. I work with an Ex Bug avionics/WCS guy and had talked to him about the performance of the bug.. He has said that during tiger cruises [when vip/family go along for a day] that during airshows that the f14 can be close to sea level/ Level flight and in visual and hit SuperSonic with ease. The f18 must do it in a dive from in the same distance. So Unfortunately I do not have Fex numbers to actually calculate the f18 vs f15. if what my co-worker says is true I don't see any reason to not be able to speculate that the accell of the f15 is better then that of the f14 and much better then the f18. so It should be disfavoring the f18 greatly in that regards. There should be no ability for the f18 [unless its bingo and joker] to be able to tail chase an f15[and its heavy]. in bfm flying the f15 vs everything sept maybe a EF or f22 Go vertical if the bandit isn't killed in the first 360*, blow out exit and leave the bandit in your dust.
  17. It's not impossible. I've shot down several fighters at those ranges. This is likely due to the fact they were climbing, heavy, and had no speed for maneuvering. This is the exact reason I NEVER climb while traveling towards the A/O slow & or heavy...
  18. Here is my $.02, It wasn't an issue for the SU guys at the time that they were pulling 20+G with out a care in the world. When that was rectified with a legitimate airframe destruction model, then it was nothing but cries and whines about how the f15c doesn't have a damage model. The point that GG brought up is that there isn't a need for a damage model, but just a limit on what the airframe can actually do. Since as GG mentioned as well as Sweep. The stabs cannot generate enough force to induce instantaneous catastrophic loss of the airframe like that of the SU27. While no one is arguing against a fix for the problem it should not be of the same solution to that of the su27 pfm. In that it will still draw the RU lovers in droves whining that their aircraft breaks up yet the f15c does not. The RU lovers will not be happy until they see f15c wings rip off like their beloved SU27 does even though its unrealistic for the f15c to have that happen. As far as GG coming in and "Taunting" people The RU lovers have their own Trolls who taunt, as there is one confirmed RULover troll who posted in this very same thread.
  19. You were on that flight.. It was the one where sweeper spotted me and well us due to it..
  20. My bad It seems that I miss read the OP's post. I have/had the same issues. BFM is a dance between knowing where your target is and what your plane is doing. You need to go heads down to look at your speed and if you have to relax your turn to keep your speed up you must do that otherwise the bandit will continue to walk around you. The issue with VR flying is the lack of sensory perception. I.e. the feel of G, the feeling of buffeting, and the sounds of wind/airframe noise. The real pilots of the f15 don't realy need to go heads down because they can sense what plane is doing and given enough time flying it they know what energy the plane has with out ever looking away from their bandit.
  21. I can confirm that this bug has gotten me killed during night mission of being spotted visually.
  22. I'd have to argue that it does make it easier to spot targets. It allows you to scan more area in a shorter amount of time. It also allows you to get different viewing angles that you can't get with out it. It's as you said not a magical eagle vision but it's not a slight step compared to using a fixed look.
  23. The issue with this "free" fix you mentioned. Is that it was implemented into DCS and the community rejected it.. Mainly because it's a "hack" sort of speak. It involves using a sprite draw to make it bigger in the screen. So by al intensive purposes for distance the sprite will be the size of a house compared to it's background. While you can see a target now you can't judge distance. It just does not look realistic. Hense why it was removed. as far as loosing visual during a merge in the mig21.. well it isn't exactly suited for "dog" fighting compared to newer aircraft..
  24. This isn't true. You can turn on radar on the ground but it's kindof a glitch sort of speak. You need to turn the weapons system on AAQ mode. I use VSS which turns on radar then switch to what ever mode from there.
