So it turns out the majority of my problem was I was trying to "sit" too far back in the virtual cockpit. I had myself slid farther back because it made it a lot easier to interact with the switches on the far aft left and right consoles. However in researching this issue I found some videos on YouTube showing actual pilots flying A-10s and I realized they were a lot closer to the Front Dash/UFC than I realized. I scooted myself up approximately to the real position best I could tell and I was able to view the HUD a lot better. Of course now getting to those aft switches is damned near impossible. I don't know how the real pilots do it especially given how much more cramped it has to be in there.

Thanks guys. It might actually be one or both of these. Normally I use an extension cable (HDMI and USB) for my headset to allow me to get away from the computer and move around for some games. Now this has not caused me an issues before in any Oculus games, but when flying I am in my sim chair and have several additional USB devices hooked up. Five actually, an extra keyboard and mouse, plus stick, throttle, and pedals. So maybe the computer was getting overloaded. In the sim chair I am close enough to the computer that I don't need the extension cables so tonight I tried plugging directly in and I was able to fly the A10c Takeoff and Basic Flight training in its entirety without any problems. Well aside from it taking me two tries to complete the 360 degree level turn to my IPs satisfaction :) Then again not too bad for not having flown in at least a year, more like two years. Sample size of one there, but hopefully it fixes the issue. One other question I have for everyone though is any tips on getting your viewpoint correctly positioned? I know all about using the ctrl+shift+NP keys to move the camera around for better positioning but the problem I had was I simply could not find the "right" viewpoint that allowed me to properly see the entire HUD. Either the compass tape was cutoff on the bottom or the TVI and top of the ladder were cut off on the top. I could never find any position that let me see both at once. On the flip side it forced me to use my instruments more :) Would rather be able to get that view correct though. Any tips on dialing that in? Reference points or anything? Thanks again!

I am experiencing a very odd and vexing issue and wondering if anyone else has run into this. I can play sometimes 30 minutes to an hour on average, but sometimes much less (as little as 10 minutes) until suddenly essentially the Rift just dies in DCS. I know it is about to happen because the view starts juddering really bad then skipping frames or freezing the view. Then about 30 seconds later the view in the Rift goes completely blank and the mirror view on the desktop freezes. It **looks** like DCS has frozen but in fact it hasn't. I can continue to hear proper audio, and the flight controls still function. I just have no visuals. The only way to fix it is to force kill DCS and restart. My system is as follows taken from DXDiag, and Rift is CV1 with latest updates as far as I know: Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 10586) (10586.th2_release_sec.161024-1825) Processor: Intel® Core i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz (8 CPUs) Memory: 16384MB RAM Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Display Memory: 14263 MB

VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack
agathorn replied to Hollywood_315's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Does this still work in the latest DCS or DCS 2.0? Looking at the Static ATC mod (required) it doesn't appear to support either. -
Oh I didn't realize it had a maximum. Bummer, but thanks!

Hi there, So I just found out about this app and thought it looked amazing for making the time in DCS using VR a bit easier. However when I tried it out today I found that only some of the images I loaded actually appeared. For example I loaded in the DCS A-10 Flight Manual but only the first I dunno, 80 pages or so actually appeared on the kneeboard in game. Past that point it just displayed some weird screen about loading batteries :p

BoxxMann's Tips - Adjust Seat/Eyepoint with VR
agathorn replied to DerekSpeare's topic in Virtual Reality
So while messing around in the settings, I changed the VR Pixel Density to 2.5, but now DCS still acts like it is in VR mode, I can see the mirror view tracking and what not, but nothing displays in the Rift :( Anyone had this happen? Know how to fix it? Also, how does the "VR Zoom" work? I mean I see the option to toggle it, but how does it actually work? If you turn it on how do you actually zoom? -
Shame. I was going to buy a couple things at the prices listed in the email. Guess i'll pass now.
-
Can you please share the steps to get it working?
-
Thanks for the replies everyone. 10 bucks is a steal so I just went and grabbed it. It sounds like the level of simulation will be less than I like (That immersive clickable cockpit, along with all the operational procedures that come with it are a big draw for me), you can't really go wrong at that price. None of the other aircraft in FC3 interested me so I just grabbed this one. Maybe some day it will migrate from FC3 to full on DCS?

Hey all, Currently I am a very happy owner of the DCS A-10C, and I absolutely love its incredible high level of simulation fidelity. I fly it of course with the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, and looking forward to getting in the cockpit with an Oculus Rift sometime soon! Anyway, while I love my hog, ever since I've been a little boy I have loved jets like the F-15 and F-16. I'm so happy to see one of these finally being developed, and i'm curious about finding out more as i'm considering buying it. My confusion though lies in this being called a Flaming Cliffs product and not a DCS World product. What does that actually mean? Does it mean I need to own FC3 first before I can get this? Also what does it mean as far as simulation fidelity? The product blurb implies it is more dumbed down (sorry I don't mean that in an offensive way) than a normal DCS world product like the A-10C? Does this mean it lacks the hard core simulation qualities in the cockpit? Is there a reason it is being developed this way rather than a full DCS World product? Anyway, none of this is intended to be a slight to the developers at all, i'm just trying to understand what I would be getting, because its that insanely hard core simulation side of DCS A-10C that I love. Thanks!

VAC Friendly Radio Mod
agathorn replied to AJ.eightFive's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
In the time you've been working on a version compatible with DCS World 1.2, they sneaked in v1.2.1 :p Have you tested at all with this version? Definitely looking forward to this update. I use it on my standalone A-10C and love it. -
I am wondering just how much a 3rd party can do with this system. Specifically i'm wondering if it is possible as a 3rd party to: 1) Add new terrain areas 2) Add new land/air/sea vehicles under player control 3) Build something similar to DCS Combined Arms

Thanks Eddie. I'll check again but I think you are right. I think I did forget to edit the actual task.

So I set a tanker to orbit at 15,000 at a speed of 331 knots which, if that is TAS, should have given me around 255 kias. However just like all my other attempts to set this up, the tanker was still going around 170-180 kias.
-
Are you re-setting your receptacle with the nosewheel steering button?
-
How do you actually get the tanker to go the speed you want? I've got a mission I made for practice, but the tanker definitely is not orbiting at the speed I set. I have it set for 220kts but the actual speed best I can tell is between 170kts and 180kts.
-
I think he is seeing what I mentioned earlier. For some reason sometimes TWO splash screens for the A-10C module will pop up when loading a mission. Though in my case when this does happen, everything still works fine.
-
Oddly I noticed that I also get TWO splash screens whenever I run the A-10 module. However in my case the game runs correctly in every other respect.
-
I'm sure its just like anything and needs lots and lots of practice but my oh my this is hard. I spent like 15 minutes today trying to get into formation and slowly work my way up. Near the end I could feel me getting better, but each time I get real close to the tanker, I found it very very hard to keep my movement subtle enough and I ended up way out of position and had to fall back for another try. I'm sure it will feel real good once I finally nail this!
-
Ok well it SOUNDED like a lot lol
-
That is very interesting. 100 tons of fuel sure sounds like a lot to me though.

APUs in general are loud mofos. I think its something about the pitch that just makes them seem so loud and painful.
