  1. But people still do it because combining both blobs in the sky (model enlargement) and flying low in the valleys works too effectively. Starting with no fuel has zero impact on a Mirage pilot that wants to hit INS class 4, but it slows any needless quaking.
  2. How about Mirage, guys don't bother aligning and just spool up and fly out in under a minute. If you want to align you can refuel why doing so.
  3. Great mission great flying by all and nice scoring. Though i've got to give huge credit to Tek who was clearly my choice for most valuable player. To score more points than the 2 selected mvps combined (13-5 vs 6-2+6-2) goes down in my book as something special. I know he can't post in these forums but Fantastic job matey.
  4. I deserve this HOTAS to get the last laugh because my wife thinks she's clever hiding my current HOTAS. Who's the daddy? i'm the thrustmaster daddy now!
  5. Rather than just skirting around the subject why not just say what this extra workload in A2A combat is supposed to be?
  6. Sorry, I fly BMS too and don't recognise much difference in A2A other than having more tools at my disposal in the Falcon such as zoom, bar scan options, more azimuth options and an effective TWS system not to mention helmet mode. :) If you enter a fight not set up for fighting you've already lost. There is a case for setting up systems before getting into action but this is all procedural and should become as simple as booting up windows and starting DCS.
  7. I don't agree here, I think you're confusing fidelity with fighter generation. The principal of combat is the same whether you use a MIG-21 or an F-15, there is not a great deal to process in a MiG21 compared with an F-15 other than having more dedicated modes to fighting in the newer gen aircraft therefore less workload, there is certainly less to do when fighting in a ww2 aircraft than an FC3 fighter. The process of Air to Air combat in a Mirage is virtually identical to the DCS F-15. The whole concept of combat is pretty much side by side whether it be understanding turn rate, energy, defensive maneuvers etc. Now if you want to have a competition on who can start their aircraft up faster then i'd agree with you.
  8. I agree with the thought that SA ranking giving a false impression on ability within the DCS community, but I think what you do get with SA ranked pilots are pilots that have given a lot to the progression of community events, not just taking part but organising, hosting etc. and not forgetting one important factor, commitment to attending. There are plenty of talented players that don't take part in such events so to label the top 10, 15 or whatever the cream of DCS is a bit of hyperbole, i'm sure in the name of showcase for dramatic effect. But why not, after all it's just a bit of fun. I can tell you though i've been pulling my flight to pieces and it was pretty shambolic and certainly not worthy of such status.

  11. Shooting down the AI is one thing, much easier than going against a co-ordinated 2 ship of human players. Open up the separation from the furthest bandit away from you some more by forcing him defensive while you crank opposite of him. The other AI will press on you leaving a 1v1 situation. Not easy but against AI good practice. Su27 v 2 F15.txt.rar
  12. The same isn't true up against its comparable missiles the AIM-7 and R-27R rather than the extra burn, larger motor R-27ER.
  13. Add to that the 530D in DCS has insane acceleration and very low drag.
  14. More like one as a free for all and another with tight restrictions not easily adaptable or conveyed in a public server.
  15. Mav I know I don't need to tell you to ignore the hate mail, but you guys put up a great gateway for all comers. You cater for all types to enjoy DCS without the need for necessary co-ordinated attack and defend team play to have fun, this is the perfect way to acclimatise new comers as well as allow team players to do there thing in the same server. When we ran a server we concentrated solely on the frontline scenario trying to promote teamplay and communication, but ultimately this requires some seriously dedicated ground pounders, it doesn't really help someone just looking for casual A2G. Thankfully Blueflag came along and forced this whole teamplay aspect on everyone. There is no doubt that the 104th and Buddy spike are covering a large portion of the community needs. Keep up the good work guys.

I can send you a mission which drops a bomb close to the runway spawn point, all aircraft get destroyed or become unflyable except Mirage an MiG-29.

  18. You should be scanning the skies in unfriendly territory so any aircraft with weak radars you should have on scope first. If I have no signal followed by a weak signal during having a contact on radar I can start to expect a weak aircraft eg. MiG21. If a bandit is on my radar at 100km a signal strength at 2 o'clock can be classed as a MiG29 and I can expect R77, ET etc. If the 100km contact comes in at 12 o'clock strength then I can guess on Flanker or F15 mostly dependent on whether he locks me or not, if he hasn't locked me by 8 o'clock I can pretty much assume actives and F15. I don't understand what you see as so complex in this. With regards to notching and everything else, i'm sure you understand aspect effects the range at which you are picked up on radar. If you are not being picked up it is possible to navigate around a poor scanning pattern and turn hot when you are no longer tracked, you have bearing, approximate range and equipped with the best stealth tool in DCS the EOS. I'd rather surprise an F15 than try and duke it out against amraams because if they ever make them more realistic you won't be dodging them for love or money. The Beroyza is useful in many ways and many approaches.
  19. Firstly signal strength compared with radar contact will give you an idea of what type of threat you're facing which gives you an idea of how you're going to proceed. Also you can gather better SA from radar signals approaching your flank while you chase a bandit or from approaching bandits while you are tied up in a merge, combined with good SA building and communication you should have a much clearer picture of when it is time to get out of dodge. To add to that estimating range with strength is excellent for notching and hiding from bandits when you don't want to be seen, combined with ECM and varying altitudes you can make yourself disappear in a crowded environment.
  20. That is a very rough guide on F-15 and Flanker radar strength. Check these out tested by the 159th a while ago. Though I think the M2k is different these days. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=331701&postcount=10
  21. As everyone will agree the Mirage is a fantastic module and going from strength to strength through its beta stage. It's a credit to RAZBAM and all their endeavour. For me DDM on or off the Mirage is not really an issue which needs such attention, it's a minor debate hardly worthy of the time. I'm sure it would be a great addition but hardly what is representive of what is in the skies today or in the past on what is fast bordering on being a retired airframe. What is worrying though is that 3rd party companies have freedom to make their own version of DCS, be it flight model limitations, weapon performance, damage model, engine performance and additional features out of sync with the DCS ED is creating. You mention missiles are crap but this is globally for all missiles, you can't create accurate representations of such classfied system behaviour but you can create a version that provided all missiles follow the same rules, then some reflective balance with RL is achieved. Unfortunately the Mirage has its own version of how missiles should behave which exceeds EDs version therefore creating its own playing field. This is the sort of tinkering outside the boundaries of DCS that worries people and I can only see it growing. ECM, you could make a whole new sim to simulate this and the F-15 I believe is a 9g rated airframe at any speed so structure limit is in the region of 12-13.5g. Just my cautious observation.
  22. So it's kind of like putting 30mm cannons on the P-51D because even though its not a standard feature it could be done. 3rd party modules for DCS, I like where this is going.;)
  23. Also if you leave the server and rejoin the damage will not be there for the new client.
  24. You have to ignore structures etc. and concentrate on ground position, wherever your pipper is, be it at the point of the highest building, the pipper will see through that to a point on the ground behind the building. The missile flies down on to the target so it won't fly through the building. Poor modelling yes.
