  1. Sorry buddy, ignore what I said it seems the fisheye effect has been fixed. I guess it's just a matter of practice. ;)
  2. If you need a strike or chopper pilot count me in.
  3. The pipper gets affected by a fisheye effect. When ground stabilising the pipper on the target make sure the pipper is dead centre of the ASP glass before locking. You will notice after stabilising the pipper, when you move your nose around so as the pipper shows at different positions on the ASP the pipper will no longer appear over the target. This is false info the only true pipper position is when the pipper is displayed exactly central on the glass.
  4. Yes AFM was on both 25s long before the F-15 was even thought about. That is why the vanilla 25 is high on everyones list, because it is such a joy to fly and so rewarding to bring her home. Everything you do in it, take off, fly, land, ground pound or dogfight is so rewarding because of the sheer enjoyment of the challenge. The only other aircraft that has given me that level of accomplishment whilst being so enjoyable to fly is the MiG21.
  5. Works fine for me. Maybe control issues.
  6. 1) The AIM-120 factor is helped greatly by TrackWhileScan. TEWS gives better situational awareness with regards to bandits, friends and SAMS. Climb rate and speed is far superior to the direct foe, Su27. 2) AIM-7 outranges R-27R, maybe under 10km R-27 is faster but only launched off the wings not the belly. Mirages Super 530D outranges both, accelerates quicker and sustains speed much better. 3) Mirage uses RAZBAMs version of missiles while Su27 and F15 get EDs missiles that don't match up like they should. This is part of the problem of having 3rd parties creating their own missiles. With no 120 and ER Mirage has the advantage, with ER and 120, the F15 with TWS has the advantage while the Flanker should be slightly ahead of the Mirage, but the 530D is not far behind both ER and 120 on energy.
  7. Being as we are discussing cool stuff. Can we have kill messages back on? :devil_2: ALT-F4
  8. When I choose to be a Flanker pilot i'd rather have the 120's and ER's, the 27R is very poor compared to the AIM-7 and uber MATRA (which has nearly as much energy as EDs ER and 120). As a Red fighter pilot in both scenarios either teamwork or sneaking up on bandits is the best way to operate and having an 27ET in this situation is far more effective than relying on the 27T airbrake, there is no bullying blue fighters whichever scenario you choose other than taking the Mirage in the 80s. As a strike pilot though the weaker missile selection brings us all closer together which adds to the enjoyment of the battle, shooting down fighters with Su25s, A-10s, F-5s and MiG-21s becomes more of an option without the big sticks. It's just a shame ED don't pull their finger out and get their own missiles at least up to RAZBAM standard.
  9. You're saying pretty much what is already well known, like I said earlier the Doppler notch starts at 140kph anything that has a closure speed to the ground relative to the search radar below 140 will drastically reduce radar acquisition range. Anything above 150kph will be seen at max range, 80km for a Flanker radar. The Flanker radar sees a chopper at 140kph for about 6-8km and for about 3km at 70kph. The Flanker EOS sees both head on for about 5-6km and more like 10km in a chase. But I don't think you understand the point, you don't go seeking out choppers with EOS unless you know where they are within a certain area. The radar does this work for you as choppers ain't going to be flying around at 80kph all day, this then gives the pilot or even better the GCI a picture, he can then box off a search area that can then allow the pilot to acquire the chopper with EOS, IR seeker, radar or visual. But as a primary chopper finding tool the radar is obviously King.
  10. Just tested this and it seems you can add the A-10A to the list as well, something changed with the FM updates because the MiG29, Su33, Su25T all suffer catastrophe going over craters as did the Flanker and F-15 with the old SFM. Seems every aircraft bar the Su27, F-15 and A-10A succumb to craters. As an extra I tested some close bomb explosions on runway start aircraft the Mirage and MiG29 came out top still able to take off, the MiG-21 came a close second (pilot died shortly after), while every other aircraft became a wreck with either pilot and engine death, F-15, Su27, F86... or just structural failure, inoperable, A-10C, Su25T.
  11. You need to know that there is a chopper there to begin with (otherwise why would you be in VS mode looking at the ground), that comes from intially picking them up on radar or GCI then when they go low and slow or land it then requires the EO scanning etc. This can be done with F-15 and A-10 AIM-9 seeker not as well as EO but still pretty effectively.
  12. Are you sure this isn't down to the crater appearing before the client joins. If you bomb the runway then exit the server and rejoin, the runway will no longer be cratered, the only perma crater is for the server and AI.
  13. I'm sure flying below 150kph reduces detection range considerably due to DCS clutter notch. It's always been this way since Blackshark1 vs FC2.

If you're planning on getting into multiplayer then either A-10C or Mirage are great choices with different roles depending on whether you want to destroy AI ground targets with friends or shoot players down with friends. Of course both planes can do both but excel in only one respectively. Alternatively you can just buy FC3 and have all options with several aircraft but at the cost of having the same fidelity as the Su25T. If being a fighter pilot is your thing and you're pretty green then FC3 is the best route to access one of DCS's toughest learning curves, jet fighter tactics, from BVR to BFM there is so much to master. If being the underdog and you think you're up to it go for the MIG-21, if you can handle getting shot out of the sky for the first few weeks without knowing why while still smiling then this is DCS hardcore for you.
  15. Unlucky, you're outnumbered 2-1. We all know one red pilot is worth 10 blue.
  16. Most of these experts as you call them simply read the manual, everything is pretty much explained there. It's part and parcel of simulation as opposed to buying a pick up and play game.
  17. Korea and Blix, perfect combination.
  18. That is normal for all aircraft within standard parameters, it's not permanent.
  19. Absolutely, but funds are the major player and always tight, making Su25SM to the same spec as 25T ie.Vikhr, is an unnecessary route in todays climate. To add to that Russia already has a wealth of attack choppers that are classed as an effective anti tank platform while being much more powerful and survivable than the US equivalent which the A-10 imo presides over.
  20. I can't look at the video right now but if its the one i'm thinking of he pretty much goes from one extreme to the other, much like bending a ruler one way and then the other, it snaps.
  21. I can imagine one guy here though desperately making inbound calls to pilots already in parachutes, he certainly has an apt name.
  22. I didn't say it is not needed I pretty much alluded to your opinion in that its original role is not needed.
  23. But why do we get instant wing breakage? No deformation, judder etc. The ultimate structure load is 1.5 times the limit load, an airframe is supposed to be able to withstand up to 3 seconds of ultimate load yet we have instantaneous destruction at 1.3 to 1.5 times limit load.
  24. Su25 would be used with rockets and bombs to attack infantry and motorised units as well as being part of a larger package against installations and airbases. Su25T would be for attacking tank battalions pretty much like the A-10 and now in a similar fashion probably considered an obsolete role.
  25. With respect to player count how about doubling AI aircraft globally if one coalition has only 2 and the other more than 10 and triple if over 15. I say globally as it won't matter to the 2 man coalition, they're surely not going to attack. Also what about removing Songalung from the AI aircraft respawn, this would reduce the 6 ship of F-16s taking off from that area down to a more acceptable 4 ship. Attacking this area is extremely tough with even a lot of players against very few. I'd say right now to attack it requires 16v4 just to achieve parity and let ability and luck decide.
