Great event again thanks 104th, again sorry for the poor turn out from us it was unacceptable, vodka rations are being removed as I type. Shame there is no stream save I only caught the end of it with IronMike in hyper mode, great entertainment a worthy alternative to Hook waxing lyrical. Great fight from the challengers again. A momentarily loss of focus and hesitation cost me my life early doors that is how tight these events are, so many contacts in amongst so much noise it is easy to get overwhelmed but it seems a great job was done by Bushmanni commanding the challengers as they had good co-ordination and applied pressure in different areas. After my life I listened into the comms on the aggressors while watching the stream i've got to say Maverick and Stuge showed up in a big way too. And Tiger, awesome stuff just got too ahead of himself.

Tico and Patriot are usually the reasons for long range perma spikes in DCS.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
Frostie replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
This is a great idea and era suited. The 27ER is a late 80s missile the same as the 530D but for example the 33 can carry 8 of them, i've flown the 33 on BS and it is pretty much easy mode if flown in an equal numbered environment. The AIM-120C5 is a 21st century missile plus the F-15 datalink is a 21st century inclusion, so there are options here to weigh the Russian fighters in with a bit of usefulness. I'd suggest adding datalink this way it gets era specific equipment. Unfortunately the MiG29 will still be stuck at the bottom of the food chain. -

More chaff resistance. B is a better choice as a dogfight missile. -

Don't use R-27T because it is a flying airbrake, easily seen and decoyed plus d2m, don't use R-73 because of the most of before, so use only R-27R the slowest SARH in game with half the range of anything else. Strangley Flankers are the poor mans fighter with any of the communities fixed idea of what weapon restrictions should be. Bring on the R-27ER and lets have a bit of Flanker love for a change. :D -
Your fav tactics against Su-27 in a merge ?
Frostie replied to PrototypeBayu8's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Getting out turned by a fully loaded Su25T in an Eagle i'm sure is, there are plenty of merge fails online. Fave tactics against noobs is not really relevant to fave tactics against Flankers. ;) -

With the limited payloads, no 120, ER, ET the ranges are closed down giving the likes of the MiG-21, F-5, Su25 and A-10 a fighting chance. -

Countermeasure switch should be set before entering combat depending on expected threat, panic button is for that alternate reason so basically two buttons. Gun mode is one button and then you get options to suit, this is a bonus. As for the others why would you be pressing these buttons in the middle of A2A combat, IFF should be set, tanks should be gone... -
This is funny. If this was real life aircraft wouldn't carry missiles they'd carry countermeasure pods instead.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

This is part and parcel the problem of having different devs creating their own versions of missiles; range, drag, thrust, eccm, ircm etc. are all valued differently to the creaters tastes, no such thing as a global standard. -

All I see is a server full of new players, most of them probably unaware of what BF is and haven't read anything about it. Seems to me this long period of testing has turned off many regulars and attracted a lot of new players. The SR choice is probably down to organised long term regulars on blue showing them the way before bowing out whilst red is a lot of new guys struggling to understand what exactly is going on with nobody there to guide their hand. This co-operation in a side is not some new wheel discovery, it just isn't present on red due to the dragging on of testing. -

Pick a moment in time i'm sure you'll get that, fast forward 10mins and the sides were balanced. :) -

I wouldn't worry about it, just ignore the testing phase and wait until round 10 starts i'm sure that is what most are doing, currently there just seems to be a lot of new blue players enjoying the fantastic mission setup. -

So easy to talk a good fight on what you should be doing when your team vastly outnumbers the enemy. Had a free day today and spent a large portion on the server, seemed to have to play as cap, repair, sam deploy, sead, cas, cas and cap, even got some rounds on an A-10 in a mi8, spent a large portion alone against 10+ but i've got to say i've played all 9 rounds but never seen these sort of unbalanced numbers for such a period, it just wouldn't be acceptable anywhere else. But the players playing on blue seem content with themselves. -

Part of the problem is the organised numbers one major example is RvE, most of these players if i'm correct are BlueFlag veterans that have developed friendships on BF and have moved on and joined that respectable squad. Now the balance is usually set in favour of the side these guys choose. Perfect example was Saturday, I took a 6 ship of my buddies up against the Blue Hoarde vs little red and pretty much emptied the server of blue within an hour. As for kill messages, they worked fine before why not now. There is the aspect of knowing when strikers/choppers are working but surely this is intel that makes up for lack of GCI due to dwindling numbers. I've always been an advocate of no kill messages but spending all day in work and coming home to not have your ego pruned is a bummer. :D Seriously though the great thing that kill messages has always given is rivalry, some great pilots bring a fear factor and the knowledge of shooting these guys down brings that element of friendly rivalry that is being lost with all the lack of GK! and S! messages. All we see now is bitching and moaning and a definite detachment of open friendly co-operation/banter between the sides from new players. -
Because it brings the question of what is the point of devising any sort of tactic aspect to engagements when most of it boils down to the roll of a dice and poor missile modelling. Unless the person in question is a solo pilot getting out witted, of course this will play into their hands.

I understand your stance and the feeling is mutual, when one or two red guys do it the whole team gets tarred with the same brush. My statement wasn't directed at you but at those that have complained about it one day and then been seen doing it today. -

It's disappointing, guys call people out about it, and moan about how lame it is and then go on and do it themselves. This is the sort of low level, win at all cost characters that get attracted to open servers. -

Yes player controllable shorad please, it's no good doing it half measure we might as well go full lag fest. :ufo: -
With all the talk of realism surely you'd expect the missiles being fired to get some respect, currently they don't, that is the point.
-
So the AIM-120s puny radar is superior to APG-65. :megalol:

The MiG-29s start with no fuel. The fuel reduction was put in place for attacking reasons to stop the spamming of fighters to the front on the offensive, not to do with defence. It takes a MiG-29 5 minutes to be ready for taxi after rearm, refuel and startup. Currently the Mirage takes under 2 minutes to be ready for taxi. An empty Mirage takes 4 minutes to be ready to taxi after refuel, rearm and startup. I propose that the Mirages start with 20% fuel to help remove this Mirage spam, they'll still be taxiing before any other 4th gen fighter. :) -
Modelled AIM-54 effect on a typical DCS PvP server
Frostie replied to Pikey's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
You can't predict how it will behave in mp other than experience from the current ED model. Trying to understand and how the real deal works goes someway to answering the OP, provided LN get a good representation. There have been mods using the F-14 which have been incorperated into server missions and squad matches before now, the results of a which were nothing out of the ordinary. -

 Nice write up Fringe. -
I don't think anyone has said anything regarding nerfing. If you read the OP he suggests having a MiG-31 added to counter the range of the Tomcat that is all. I'd rather see some hardcore EW modeling, the old AWG-9 would surely have some problems against modern jammers especially drfm.
