  1. DCS is a multi aircraft simulator with no parallel, it's not a game made with mp in mind, mp is just a bolt on bonus. It is something that can be enjoyed without any opponent or objective whatsoever. When people try to compare it with games designed with objectives and mp in mind and then ask why isn't DCS like this it makes me sigh. Why don't those mp focused, objective based games have realistic aircraft working in a realistic environment, maybe because it takes a lot of research, work and resources to get even close, as much as say making a totally new game. A long time ago before WoW and CoD an RPG such as DnD was something that required the users to be creative, have great imaginations and like minded friends, there was no board or playing pieces just the users wits. DCS is like that in that it gives you all the tools, so you can be creative in how you wish to enjoy it by yourself or with friends and strangers. In mp there is no spoon feeding of repetitive scripting, no capture the flag nonsense, no game so to speak unless you make it so. You want to capture the flag then carry on playing War Thunder after all that is what it was designed for. If you want capture the flag in DCS then you better get making it and then hope there are enough willing to join you to make all the effort worth your while.
  2. Vincent is one of thoee guys that just scrapped the surface of mp and thinks that is it. He expects ED to make all the play and doesn't realise that the mp scene and all its glory is created by the community and some hard working server hosts.
  3. Not only that, there was also a script used in previous versions of Blue Flag that let you pick up downed players which would replenish one of their few lives. There are many roles integrated into mp missions for transport choppers but non have made it as essential, co-operative and so involving with other players than in what you'll find in Blue Flag.

  5. War ain't fair, to get equal and fair in Blue Flag would mean having all aircraft on both sides which is not what most want, dissimilar combat is most fun while boring stale same vs same just brings a preset game vibe. Like it or not one side has certain advantages over the other while the other side has different advantages and on any other day the advantages seem greater for one side than they do the other and vice versa no matter what set up. Be it 120vs27ER, AIM-7vs27R, AIM-9vsR-73, smokeless motors vs smokey motors, SA building systems vs limited systems, angles vs energy fighters. If you can't utilise or understand what advantages your team has then by all means come here and complain about not being smart enough to work it out, those that don't complain know full well all that really matters is teamwork and ability. If you ask me a lot of F-15 pilots like their 120's and having the ability to not need enter the fight, because basically they don't know what to do when they get there. Anything else is not fair. This ain't BF4 nor AA I have no idea why people want to bring shooting games in for comparison with a combat flight sim.
  6. Great info as always Stuge, you need to join us. :D
  7. Surely the only definition here is enjoying yourself, if you ain't doing that then what are you doing.
  8. Missions are user created, use your wealth of info on how to make the perfect mission and go make one, then host it or give it to someone. A lot of the best mission makers have been put off by patches breaking stuff.
  9. I can't respond if you don't understand the concept or what i've posted.
  10. Who said greater than 10nmi, initial shot maybe but that plays as a nice bait to disguise further shots. Sorry I don't buy into letting my opponent having a free run to set up his attack unhindered. To win against your opponent trying to destroy his SA ranks higher than doing nothing. The only reason not to fire early is if you're have some airquake killing spree in mind, in a server mostly full of people that don't know what they're doing.
  11. Just better hope that 29 nail doesn't have a later follow up R-77 coming your way, that would really put you in a pickle with your over confidence of ignoring the long range shot and underestimating your opponent. There are plenty of ways to play the harmless greenie.
  12. I think it's already been knocked on the head and was originally my fault for responding to someone elses BS statement with a far superior BS statement. :D Arcade FC3 lets knock it on the head people.
  13. All aircraft must take off immediately, there has never been a ruling as far as I know in this regard because it was accepted as common practice for fighter sweeps. In an ideal World we wouldn't need any triggers as all aircraft would ingress to the combat area, face off and the loser would either get shot down or declare the loss and call knock it off. To remove a potential exploit of playing for fuel by keeping out of reach and close to home base Flankerator suggested that we needed to add a combat area which must be kept in, a Chinese squadron made a mission for FC2 which kept a combat zone and any aircraft leaving it would be eliminated. It's a tricky one coming up with something that can remove any dispute within matches, and more and more potential exploits get raised that could cause problems, obviously the more restriction we try and impose on how players should apply themselves the more triggers must be devised and created. In the past everyone has played by the rules of common sense and have never tried to exploit any means of winning the match other than through air combat. The 5 min 180km (90km radius) bubble was created through an idea of controlling an airspace, it starts approx. 40-50km from home plate, as soon as an aircraft enters this airspace it controls it, the other side now have 5 mins for an aircraft to enter the zone or lose the round. Anyone entering the airspace can only leave to rtb, leaving and re-entering will result in aircraft destruction, unfortunately this is the only safe way I can think of enforcing this without dispute as messages may not show or could even be denied. Messages will be given when entering and leaving also when approaching the exit, aircraft that leave the control space are not allowed to engage in any combat or face elimination. Tracks will be reviewed. I think this is pretty fair and clear on what is expected. I don't like having to add triggers to what should be a straight forward competition but in light of Flankerator's concerns with admin and disputes it makes total sense. One of the reasons I don't want to add 33's is the trigger creation multiplies, i'd be quite happy with a Flanker v F-15 tournie. Here is the original rulebook, I think it still holds true. http://www.51st.org/vault/SATAC/SATAC%20-%20Rulebook_v3.pdf
  14. Don't want to burst your bubble treacle but compared to the Flanker, the Mirage with its flight model, damage model and radar model is more arcade than any other module out there.
  15. AIM-9P5 seems to work fine now, having a Stuge as well in the mix is a bit unfair unless we add R27ET to MiGs. :D
  16. Surely the best way to practice getting in close is by denying him the opportunity to control the fight. Practice the fight, launch your ERs and forget trying to oursmart a dumb AI it'll just lead you to bad habits. You say you've practiced with ERs but it ends in a mutual kill, why do you think not launching ERs is going to fair better. Prepare for AIM-9 launches just as you are entering range for your 73s.
  17. I made the mission a month or so ago, I didn't know you were working on a mission also. I'll address you through pm and we'll sort something out comrade.
  18. This is the SATAC mission, it has been tested several times and contains all types of terrain. http://forum.51st.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=3279
  19. He's not flanking he's cranking, using the F-pole to increase the distance your missile has to travel. You have to force the fight more, don't let him dictate what happens, get your missiles out early and try and boss the fight, don't be scared of low energy missiles on you. Su27 vs F-15.txt.rar
  20. Pick me, pick me. I'd love to apply but I couldn't full time it, as a priority i'm still in desperate need to ramp up my Flanker practice and time is not on my side unfortunately. But what a great opportunity for someone.
  21. Crash the unsung hero.
  22. Get a buddy to draw their fire, easy meat.:D
  23. How about taking away all the missiles, now that would be freaking hilarious.
  24. ED made it possible in a recent patch to assign up to 4 players in one flight in the ME just like setting a player with 3 AI. Unfortunately the link does not work between players, it only works for 1 player and only with any AI in that flight. Apparently ED are not interested in fixing this.
  25. One thing I noticed happening a lot was MIG-21s running in at F-5s and not getting an R-3 shot off, this happened a lot because at 15km range the contacts would drop off scope, only turning inverted would bring them back. A known bug which I hope is sorted and certainly wasn't there last time I flew the 21. This did hinder our tactics of blasting through in trails.
