Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
Frostie replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Mirage needs empty fuel tank the same as all the other fighters, the original idea was to stop the fighter spam. -
I'd like to see that DCS AIM-120 or R-77 that regularly misses a target that continues to fly head on from 10nm, also a look up shot at a beaming target flying over 30k ft.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

So the big question, can I land on the Kuz and get me some R-27ER and ET without complaint? I can't kill everyone with puny R-27R against superior AIM-7 and superduper 530D. -
Server admins are not paranoid about cheats, running a very popular competitive server means you're going to get all walks of life. Preventing live TACVIEW in an admins mind stops accusations and server arguments more than anything, you only have to look at the hullaballo over Leavu during the period IC was unavailable. It is so easy in this sim to make something not understood into something untoward, this nonsense then spreads like wild fire. All server admins want is a friendly server.

I'm not sure tacview delayed is so beneficial for open servers. Being able to see where every ground unit is, what units have been deployed by players or where choppers, strike aircraft are operating doesn't require real time info alone to understand more than you should know. Stopping the ability to see the tacview before the end of the session would be a preferred direction

There is a gargantuan difference between 'working on' and 'in service'. Keep researching. ;)

The real Su33 hasn't been upgraded to use R-77 or any of those anti-ship missiles, maybe for the Chinese variant but i'd rather ED do what Russia is doing, instead of upgrading Su33 get the better carrier based choice, the MiG-29K. The anti-ship missile could be used previously, you could assign targets in the ME and engage them but that has been taken away in FC3.

R-27ER on the Kuz should remain a thing but 33's start at airbases. If you land on the carrier you get rewards. Currently R-27R doesn't compete with AIM-7 and especially 530D so I don't see a problem with this bonus, Soviets don't always have to be the worst armed. This also gives an objective for the Viggens to remove this threat, plus this gives an option to ferry ER's to airbases. -
Modelled AIM-54 effect on a typical DCS PvP server
Frostie replied to Pikey's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Mp will take another step back in the same way that botched missile AFM ruined BVR, everything bar the Tomcat is going to be in the weeds even the best F-15 pilots will be joining the kids down low. Many Tomcats will die from pushing in too deep and getting ambushed. Eventually there will be two kind of TC pilots, those that want to prune themselves with a something to zero k/d staying out of reach desperately trying to make those long range 54s hit without killing any friendlies kidding themselves that this sort of boredom is fun, and those that have accepted mp is EDs joke get tired of running circuits and get low themselves looking for merges, AIM-9 kills and some fun. -
Anyone can host a mp server for all modules with just the free DCS or terrain package.
-
We desperately need a DCS:AirTraktor AT-802 to go with all the western style farming simulator terrain mods available.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
Frostie replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
It's an open 24/7 public server, all walks of players have access which helps with popularity, enforcing stuff is not going to work unless the server gets passworded and admin'd 24/7. People can join SR then simply carry on using TS. With DCS current state and relatively low player base finding what you're looking for requires being part of a tight nit group or event, running that 24/7 won't happen or it will but be pretty quiet for long periods. It's a choice out of high player count sacrificing restrictions or hard core rules with low player count and specfic flight time periods. -

Or maybe they just want to enjoy themselves and talk about crap with their buddies who aren't flying. This 'you're an arcade kid because you're not doing it like me' is getting boring. -

I don't have a preference but surely you see the benefits of SR such as utilising the radios in DCS adding to the immersion. -
Delayed take off for strikers has been put in place before for events to stop the rush the ground unit exploit in what are supposed to be team effort achievments to open up windows of opportunity or daring raids, rather being a race to point. No disrespect intended for your hard work in planning but i'm glad it failed because that sort of planning could have the potential to dilute the event experience for everyone else before it hardly begins. In the end it was a fantastic event and deservedly won by the challengers.

If you're going to make such a stance then you need to get facts right. You're discussing PvP as in fighter vs fighter, the combat side of the fighters in FC3 are not simplified at all, the operation of the radar system in the F-15 has the same workload and sequence of buttons as the Mirage. It takes plenty of reading and practice to apply everything currently, you make it sound like you can just jump in and go without any prior knowledge. These aircraft have been researched heavily by the devs and the relevant combat systems made as close to the real thing as currently possible with FC. To touch on your start up procedures, there is a cheat switch that starts full fidelity aircraft up with one press. Besides using that you can still get the Mirage airbourne in a couple of minutes. You state that you can forget to turn something on, well surely if this is the case you're not ready for combat. The fact it takes the brain power of a 10 year old to remember the start up procedures points to something that should be irrelevant to competent pilots. Just to be clear, start up procedures are not a skill to learn and is probably the easiest thing for a DCS full fidelity pilot to master. This whole notion that because a module is full fidelity the avionics, FM, weapons systems etc. are suddenly absolute carbon copies of the real thing and everything else is nowhere near is a bit naive. Full fidelity equals no kids is unfounded.

Looking for realistic multiplayer Server F5E Tiger II
Frostie replied to flywaldair (Skynet dev.)'s topic in Multiplayer
You're going to struggle finding what you want without buddying up or joining some sort of squadron. Try Open Conflict server and TS, there are some regulars there that co-ordinate from time to time within a well made mission. Also Buddy spike server Blue Flag can give you what you wish for, when round 10 eventually kicks off there are plenty of people on comms for you to get to know better. But for the most part you'll find a lot of it casual. -
I'm sure if it takes someone 30mins to start a DCS aircraft, getting shot down should be the least of their worries. :)

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

I'd say that Blue Flag is currently Tactical Interdiction. Basically closing runways. -

Frostie replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Obviously hitting the runway, surely in the real world CAP would be already airbourne the only reason it isn't is because DCS AI is stupid. Hitting the runway early makes it pretty easy for a one man army to take over a base. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
Frostie replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
AI interceptors must stay, whatever helps slow down the progression is good because just destroying ground units and landing helis is basically simple, too easy, nothing dynamic just a matter of practice on how quickly you can destroy them all. The only chance you're going to get shotdown attacking these bases is when you're under pressure to do so. So with no human opponents i'd like to see more AI, maybe a territory roving CAP. What needs addressing is the ease at which you can stop the AI taking off shortly after they've first been alerted. -

I'd have to give Aries and Varayag a shout,, A-10 or 25T. It's alright when you've got the numbers to back you up but when you're outnumbered having these two force mulitpliers makes all the difference. -
If the bandit is out at 3-4nm pulling into a notch may be more beneficial than trying too turn for a head on, then you can wait for the merge before turning in, but whatever the situation always try to get below with plenty of cms. There are other methods such as driving missiles into the ground or out maneuvering them but ideally when you are low and the bandit is also, taking advantage of the terrain is what you want more than anything because everything else is a gamble.

You burst my bubble, just when I thought I was even more powerful than Wags himself. :blow:
