  1. I don't think anyone has mentioned the Su25 vanilla which is an absolute peach to fly compared to the 25T, never tire of flying the Frogfoot.
  2. Broken my stabs 3 times in the last two weeks with no intentional rudder input. Thanks ED, twist stick users either stop using rudder, assign it to buttons, buy pedals or fly F-15. Good job ED thanks.
  3. I don't think people are struggling, it is more of a case of what has become an ugly FM, sluggish, wallowing around, terrible rudder inputs not to mention the only ac given the break stabiliser option. It is no longer enjoyable.
  4. All missile hits were made against a cranking target, the fact is there is a higher degree of energy loss on R27 missiles compared to AIM-7. After 16 seconds ER was 3000kph, AIM-7 2600kph and R at 1900kph. I've already stated that these ranges are not effective but have highlighted some more effective ranges based on missile energy.
  5. Max range means the difference between hitting the target and dropping below it. This just highlights how drag affects the R27 as opposed to the AIM-7. I'm under no illusion that the AIM-7 is in anyway comparable to the ER for effective max range but there is a huge gulf in how drag behaves between the two.
  6. Up to about 4km distance travelled both AIM-7 and R-27R have a similar profile the 7 accelerates quicker while the R hits a higher max speed (at about 3km), but after 4km the AIM-7 leaves the R in its wake. With the ER though it reaches out 7.5km when the other two hit 4.5km distance travelled, all at 10seconds. 20sec distance missile travelled R 8km 1600kph 7 10km 2100kph ER 14.5km 2500kph 25sec R 9km 1300kph 7 11.5km 1700kph ER 17km 2100kph with that in mind i'd say the effective ranges at medium altitude are R-27R 6-8km AIM-7 10-12km R-27ER 17-19km
  7. The duration the AIM-7 keeps speed up to 2600kph is 16seconds, at this time of flight the R-27R is decelerating at 1900kph and the R27ER is down to 3000kph. IMO there is no right or wrong way about it, whichever face off is flown there is unbalance. But with the addition of the very fast 530D things get even harder for R-27R carriers.
  8. Drag is a key factor. Attacking an aircraft that is moving 30 degrees off the nose. Launch parameters 6000m (20,000 ft) Mach 0.9 R-27R hits at 30km max max speed 3180kph time to max speed 7sec duration at max 1sec time to hit target 43sec AIM-7M hits at 41km (22nm) max max speed 2600kph time to max speed 5sec duration at max 11sec time to hit target 1min R-27ER hits at 44km max max speed 4080kph time to max speed 11sec duration at max speed 1sec time to hit target 52sec
  9. It seems they didn't get the v(1) upgrade until 2001 though. http://boeing.mediaroom.com/2001-04-02-U.S.-Air-Force-F-15-Eagles-Receiving-Boeing-APG-63-V-1-Radar-Upgrade
  10. JTIDS was planned for 1998 but testing from 1989 onwards brought reliability and cost issues, it was eventually cancelled in 1995, the 18 F-15s were before this as the test bed, I don't see a date but probably late 80s and not 1995. MIDS FDL was planned for 1998 but incorporating this into F-15s put them back another 2 years. F-15 MIDS FDL IOC - 2000, deliveries 2001 on. https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/monograph_reports/MR1235/MR1235.appc.pdf https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/monograph_reports/MR1235/MR1235.chap9.pdf
  11. Eighteen F-15C based at Elmendorf got JTIDS in '95. This was the test bed squadron whose F-15s received upgrades to APG-63(v)2 AESA. JTIDS was cancelled in '96 due to cost and the planned FDL for F-15C was MIDS fitted in the early part of the 21st century.
  12. What I can gather the cockpit is either apg-63 psp or early v1. http://www.f15sim.com/images/left_console_new.jpg
  13. Range is negligible when you have a sim treating SARH missiles vs chaff like missiles from the 60s. Modern SARH missiles such as R-27 and AIM-7M use monopulse seekers to reduce the effect of ground clutter, chaff etc. with doppler filtering these missiles shouldn't be suffering chaff like it is its nemisis. How can the sim make an AIM-120C seeker more effective at 10km against chaff than the F-15s own radar. Because ED read eccm improvements to the C5 as being better than any SARH rather than 120A is very poor against chaff because it relies on its own tiny radar to process the reflection and deal with clutter, therefore it needs improving.
  14. Basically, if you Take off.. Trim Adjust power.. Trim Make a turn.. Trim Fire a missile.. Trim It starts raining.. Trim You pass wind.. Trim
  15. The 1st rule of Flanker club is trim.
  16. Not at co-altitude.
  17. Just practice, it is pretty simple. Here are some guides that wil be relevant to the MiG also. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=150315&highlight=Su27+guide http://flankertraining.com/ironhand/
  18. Maybe because both 530 and magic are Matra.
  19. I'm not seeing the tacview, but i'm guessing HOJ. I've just tested it and as soon as you turn off the jammer the missile goes dead. On the acmi at 43 seconds the bandit no longer has a lock on me, I turn off the jammer and then drop flares to signal. You can see that the missile went dead immediately. 20. I'm sorry but you're talking in riddles for me. One post you're saying this is for unmixed the next you're saying, no, no, it is for mixed. I see this whole process to try and somehow level the playing field with strikers to fighters so as fighters can't efficiently IFF. Seems to me you have a desire to turn strikers into fighters as though this is a thing. The problem is I don't see how this is going to fix the original problem of where this discussion stemed from of friendly fighters locking up strikers, with your proposal this is only going to get worse with everyone locking each other up and new guys shooting everybody down. Take a leaf out of that and read that new guys would shoot everybody down but more experienced would play it smart much like what you have to do in a striker now ie. a learned ability. During unmixed scenarios F-15s can easily id targets by type such as Su25 with NCTR and collect accurate information on radars they are facing through TEWS. The big clue is in the role of ac, A2G and A2A, if you're flying A2G and have air nails then stop pounding the fish in a barrel and get to safety, hide, get cover or get ready to defend. If you don't know how to defend them you shouldn't be hanging around. This is not the place to be discussing DCS features that don't exist, what is being advised to you, that you like to belittle, is how you can operate as a striker in the server, that is more appropriate to this thread. There is a case for iff to be more realistic but it shouldn't be in the name of level the playing fields, disguised as realism by guys who fly totally unrealistically, solo or with one or two friends. The simple thing to is be on comms with a fighter who can cover your airspace and let you know of the situation like a mini awacs. And you should also be on comms with fellow ground pounders to gang up on any fighter that may attack. Getting the first shot in against a fighter is never going to happen in a striker without good intel and that is how it should be. Considering strikers get a TA with a known fact that only hostile units exist there and the TA being away from the A2A fight I think you've got it pretty easy. Now get back to learning how to be an effective and smart ground pounder like plenty have already done before instead of a trigger happy multirole hero.
  21. So basically in a mixed scenario have no iff and make it a complete cluster. Ok good luck with your request, have a good day.
  22. Correct me if i'm wrong but you asked for unmixed a/c and iff that fails or off and highlighted this as the main discussion for you. This is exactly what I responded to, if iff is off or fails in an unmixed scenario F-15s still won't have a problem with iff because of TEWS and NCTR. Capish?
  23. IFF fail? F-15 TEWS and NCTR don't fail which are perfect ways of determing friend from foe in an unmixed scenario, so why bother making IFF fail only to hinder Russian fighters even more.
  24. The only absurd thing here is you trying to justify team killing as an acceptable reaction to seeing an aircraft approach you. Not sure if it is you but a guy did get banned the other day for multiple team kills one of which was on a target he saw appraoching from the enemies direction, so this was his cue to fire. Pure genius gaming for points. The server is set up as is the owners wish, people like flying F15 v F15 so this ain't going away and plenty of people don't have a problem with this because they accept the risk and don't prowl around like a trigger happy gamer. There are unmixed missions but you have to wait for them to rotate, if you don't like this I suggest you go make your own server and then let that be a free for all, gl sorting the ensuing accusations, rants and arguments that will break out on a regular basis. Otherwise tailor it to your liking or alternatively go fly on a server that doesn't mix aircraft.
