  1. I have edited the OP and replaced 40+ with "mature and experienced" Although I may include training missions in the future I just don't want missions to become training sessions, and at the risk of being politically incorrect, I want to rule out those that take a video game approach with this sim as well.
  2. Thanks again for your interest. In an effort to make this as simple as possible in a way that will accommodate the many variables in each person's schedule, all anyone will be asked to do is post their availability HERE in advance. It's very frustrating for me to schedule my time for a mission only to find that nobody is there to fly it so this method should be agreeable to anyone that may want to participate while keeping my personal sanity intact. I hope to fly with you soon.
  3. I decided to give this monkey business a name so click HERE for details. Hopefully this will make it easy for anyone to communicate their intentions or ask questions. Thanks
  4. Place them on the map as static objects.
  5. The SoH map was introduced over a year ago so I am hoping that someone on the ED team has been working towards expanding it since then and the final release will be much larger than the original plan.
  6. Considering the changes that have taken place with DCS and the introduction of many new modules I am curious to know how many there are remaining that prefer the A-10C aircraft and flying realistic multiplayer coop missions designed for what it was intended for based on current events as well as historical conflicts. I have tried numerous times to organize small groups of like minded folks with this in mind and seem compelled to continue to try again from time to time. I am seeking mature and experienced pilots that would be available for 1 or 2 missions per week at either 2:30 and/or 8:00 PM CST (US) I am currently only using the NTTR map and have created several missions for use but would certainly welcome anyone skilled with the ME to produce more missions in the future. If you are not already involved with other groups or squads then please email me at dcswblooze@gmail.com or click HERE if this sounds like something that would be of interest to you.

  8. Considering the recent tensions between the Saudis and neighboring countries and the vital importance of the Strait for the transportation of oil it could very well be the most significant piece of geography in the near future. Looking at the map and numerous airfields it would be well within the scope of realism to see conflicts taking place in this relatively small area especially if carrier ops are available. I remain optimistic about this map. I just hope it comes during my lifetime. I ain't gettin' any younger here:(
  9. Update: Kuky has offered a most excellent solution HERE
  10. Great and much needed improvement. Thanks?
  11. Snoopy I am sure that I am one of many that would appreciate your posting some photos of some A-10s in your location.
  12. You can create the same thing by placing an enemy vehicle on the map and selecting the advanced option as WEAPONS HOLD within the OPTIONS/ROE commands? That way you could shoot tanks as target practice without them shooting back at you. You could use the health bar meters as sensors on the F10 map to determine damage done after each run and even trigger a text message to appear when a vehicle was destroyed.
  13. I would recommend taking one step at a time starting with downloading DCS World 1.5, getting it installed and flying the free SU25T for starters. After you have it installed go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/EAGLE DYNAMICS/DCS WORLD 1.5 BETA/DOCUMENTATION and send the USER MANUAL to your desktop. It will guide you through the set up process and get you started enough so you can evaluate things.
  14. Thanks for taking the time to set this up. There are so many questions that I'm sure we have all had that can only be answered by someone who's "been there and done that". I'll be hoping this can happen again sometime soon. Hmmm, maybe a 476th Podcast interview???
  15. Referring back to the OP's observation concerning the NTTR map specifically, MP activity will depend on the creation of MP missions, whether they are locked organized squad type missions or open missions that invite anyone in for an unorganized slug fest. The waning list of NTTR MP servers IMO is evidence that the majority of capable mission designers are struggling like I have been to create anything immersive with the NTTR map apart from what the map was intended for, TRAINING. For those that are at the training stage with whatever aircraft they have chosen, or those that are attracted to training exercises from a military point of view this would probably be the ideal setup, but for the many that already have many hours of virtual combat experience under their belts the thrill of the new graphics are short lived, training missions are boring, and one is left waiting for SoH so that the true intention of DCS World, COMBAT SIMULATION, will resume. Although I am awestruck at the progress that has been made and remain optimistic about the future of DCS I find myself stalled again for now while I wait for SoH. :music_whistling:
  16. I know what I'll do, I'll create missions with mid-air starts and limited fuel with no tanker making crash landing in the desert inevitable. Throw in a little mid-eastern music and, voila I'm in Syria. :joystick:
  17. I think it would be safe to say that the majority of the community is, and always has been involved with DCS World because it has always been a DIGITAL COMBAT SIMULATOR. For me, flying a map with the COMBAT component removed, regardless of how awesome the new graphics are, has been about as exciting as watching grass grow. I can't seem to stretch the limits of my imagination enough to see it as any other piece of geography so I wait patiently for SoH.
  18. It would be cool if someone recorded the Q&A meeting and then offered an edited version as a sound file at a later date for others to hear. I will try it myself if I am available for the session. I hope I can make it.
  19. THIS complete description should answer all your questions and more.
  20. What I do with the A-10C pit is 1. enter the pit (you will be in F1 view by default) but do not change any views at this point. 2. With TrackIR activated, move in whatever directions that are needed to obtain the desired view and seat position and then pause Track IR. With TrackIR paused in the desired view position, hit RHT ALT+NUM0 to save that F1 view. Unpause TrackIR and it should be saved as desired. It may take a few tries but it works for me, within limitations of course. Make sure that whatever position you choose, all of the HUD content remains visible within the HUD frame.
  21. Although someone may find a way to do what you are proposing it isn't possible now AFAIK.
  22. Hello and welcome to DCS World. I am retired and a one trick pony with the A-10C. After flying other combat flight sims for over 15 years, this is the one I had hoped would be available one day and after doing this for over 3 years I can still say that it's the hardest plane to learn but offers the greatest reward for having learned it. One of the things I found to be a great benefit was to order a printed flight manual that I could flip the pages with while drinking coffee rather than trying to view it on my PC. For me it just doesn't get any better than becoming proficient with the hog and flying multiplayer coop missions designed to simulate historic realism with other experienced hog drivers. Gerry Abbott has some of the best video tutorials available so have a look at them some time.
  23. The files in the saved games folder will not be changed by updates or repairs or new installations. The saved games folder does not include all the same folders found in the main installation but rather only the files that reflect changes made by the user that are within the options menu including key mapping, graphic options, snap views, etc. It's easy to see what is in the saved games folder with a quick look. Often times problems can be resolved by simply renaming the saved games DCS xxxx folder and letting DCS build a new one.
  24. Go to your saved games/DCSXXX/ Config folder and delete the view folder. That will return all cockpit views to default.
  25. I have noticed that for some reason fog has been enabled with a visibility range of 25nm by default in 1.5. Try clearing any fog entry in the ME and see if that helps.
