I have a SAITEK Pro Flight Cessna Elevator, which is recognised under the Axis Commands, but can't be assigned adequately as Trim Elevator. It seems as if it's not been recognised. It's working perfectly though as Elevator in FSX. It's a pity because that's the perfect instrument for the P-51. Need help.

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
BiBa replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Well due to Shoulder Size (see below) = 0.15, which as norm would correspond to approximately to 40cm, the needed 20cm sideways amendment would be around 0.08 in either Y or Z axis. (X is for up & down) I tried different settings up to adding a full shoulder length to Y & Z like here: y = {-0.35000,0.350000},z = {-0.370000,0.370000},roll = 90.000000}, but neither had any impact. Open or closed canopy makes no difference. Logically, I assume here is right place to make that amendment. The question is, why there was no change? Standard setting: ViewSettings["P-51D"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 ShoulderSize = 0.15, limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.050000,0.450000},y = {-0.200000,0.200000},z = {-0.220000,0.220000},roll = 90.000000}, -

Sharing an opinion on the subject is one thing, comparing a member's intellect to a dog is blatantly an insult: it's for e.g like saying to you: "go and change your napkin you thumb sucker". His sarcasm was appropriately dealt with its peers... The priority task of a moderator is to monitor all forms of insulting misbehavior and undertake appropriate measures against. Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
BiBa replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Big thanks for the short cut! I found the following line: limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.050000,0.450000},y ={-0.200000,0.200000} but I have no idea what is the precise amendment for a further head side shift of, let's say 20cm!? -
Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
BiBa replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hi Peter, The TrackIR DOF movement (left & right) needs badly to be widened in the P-51 to the extent, that the pilot's head can lean out of an open canopy like in a real plane, or like in the P-51 version in FSX; it's kind of weird when your head is suddenly obstructed by an invisible barrier (in an open canopy). Anyway this 20cm added shift (left & right) is a helpful sight enhancement. I contacted TrackIR, they said it's a DCS thing. Do you have any idea how to make that TrackIR mod? Many thanks in advance -
The duty of a moderator is to remain unbiased and respect the wishes of the Users. It's one thing if members mock another. But when you, the Moderator "dogs me out" of my own Poll, (in other words, sets me a muzzle) you also dogged out with me 35% of Yes sayers. Since you were "humorously" in breach of the code of conduct by sarcastically disclosing my "alleged" identity, I'll simply retaliate by unveiling the truth about the Star Wars Trilogy

Off course you can say no, and if I didn't want that, I could have had excluded the no option, but please do substantiate the arguments with logic and contemporary facts without keeping on grinding down with same rhetorics that skip out of the main context by continually shifting the plot back to WWII! First was the major question if it's possible to tilt your head out of an open canopy: FACT is YES - you can lean your head out, and also you can easily hang your arm out the pit during taxi if you are unstrapped or using a modern harness, which is advisable under the modern security policies. Another fact is: when you're finished with taxiing before take off, these gained 20cm by leaning your head out enhance your sight to the extent that you can see the end of the runway. If you're on some remote runway up there on some lonely mountain without an ATC and nobody to double check the runway for you, is this sight gained advantage so horrible, that must be so fanatically sabotaged! So if we were about to make a movie on WWII, all good information from the no sayers are legitim. But we are not flying here in the mid 40's era, as the scenery outside the DCS pit is rubbing the clear fact under your nose, that we are here in the 21 century, and that makes all those arguments IRRELEVANT! So it's ok with no, but not with brain wash! And in case DCS does make the TrackIR enhancement; it's not the end of the world - just keep your canopy closed, if you fear losing your head out if tilted... End of the discussion

You're right, turning off Zone Alarm didn't help either. Definitely it is a Bug. Can you paste me the links of those other threads, that are already dealing with the same problem to follow up. Thanks

Good information but a weak argument to say no... You want to keep on flying in the 40ties totally tight up, you can simulate that tight phobic atmosphere by adjusting the TrackIR setting to your own demanding - but pls leave me the freedom to make my own setting without limitation and fly in the 21 century and taxi without being strapped tightly, maybe because I'm already using that modern harness, or maybe I just like to park my Mustang on sunset boulevard, roll a joint and pass it over down to my cheerleaders fans of mine, so how the hell am I supposed to do that strapped down like a mummy!? The whole discussion is not about why I want to do that, but rather if that what I'm asking for is a true fact or not, which finally has no effect on all the ones who need no change. So they do their thing, I'll do mine.

Hahaa... and how about hanging one more buddy beneath the belly, so every time the plane farts a bom, he guides it where to come :pilotfly:

I tried your modified mission and I'm still having the same Issue with the Wingman... As I mentioned before this problematic occurs also with other missions, mostly with the COM "Engage Air defenses with..." especially when there are SAM or AAA to be dealt with, and the common behavior that I noticed, is that the Wingman always returns to the last prior SPI, where you see there a white triangle after having employed some weaponry. Interesting though is that the same mission displays differently with different Users. I wonder why?! HMMM, maybe my firewall/Virus Program Zone Alarm Extreme Suit is behind that. I'll shut it down and will give it another try to see if it differs...

Before TrackIR came to the Market, your thumb took over the head movement to operate the Joystick's Povehat for view sighting. With TrackIR you started moving your head, but the waist wasn't quite really in use... When you sit still for hours in front of the screen; having the possibility to lean out sideways is not only enhancing your Taxiing sight, but also a good boost for the Bloodstream against neck stiffening. So this TrackIR improvement is, for the love of sport a good and healthy issue! :P

Before your comment is submerged by the nagging of frustrated squirts - many thanks for your beautiful Pic!

The picture illustrated from gavagai where you see CLEARLY the pilot's shoulder OVER the fuselage's edge, (as many others picture on Internet) and still your nose remains strapped down in no man's land! It's not obligatory to be strapped while Taxiing! I know Pilots are generally selected small (around 170cm) and I don't know how tall you are, and what or how thick was the cushion/parachute under your butt, but you've surely heard about how tall are most Germans predominantly - so I also can assure you, as I had the opportunity in an exhibition to sit in a P-51 cockpit, that I could hang my arm comfortably over and lean my head over where the windowpane is supposed to be, so excuse me of being so rude in expressing a wish to revive that feeling, but I won't pledge for an excuse of being tall! So if you see me one day sitting there like in the picture below, keep on telling yourself: he's not real - just a dangling mirage...

I'll try your mission tomorrow and tell you then the results... Yet I can confirm that most A-10C Bugs are to be mostly found in old missions, and seems like DCS is too stingy to invest for patches by the MFM Company, who designs those missions... As for Steam; I strongly advise you to delete that and download the original DCS World with the A-10C, and use the Steam PW to register it in DCS. The Support works better than Steam, and with each extra DCS AI Mod you buy by Steam, you'll download World once more, which is up to seven GB each time with it!

Good for you - I can only repeat the fact, that for the sake of improving Sim's reality, the true head movement wouldn't be suddenly obstructed by an invisible barrier in an opened canopy! Beyond that, if I can lean my head outside when I feel sick, (if smbd sat a spell on me) so I don't have to puke inside my cockpit, and you have to clean again this absurd mess after!
-
This is exactly what I did, and more... Beside, as you saw in my Track, it's on the second WP PATROL, where the Wingman's disobedience starts. After I've destroyed the SAM there, you can see as reaction how the AAA shifts his position, which proves that the PATROL AD is already activated. Also I'm having the same Wingman's behavior with others missions, where this problematic lies mainly with "Engage Air Defenses". If you observe the Wingman closely after sending him the order "Engage Air Defenses", he always returns to the prior, already destroyed WP SPI. This problem has been there for more than three Updates, and DCS is just neglecting it!

You don't land with the P-51 with 150+mph, but with 120! 120 is the cruise speed of a Biplane, which has no canopy, so they fly all the time like driving in a cabrio. I personally have driven a Mercedes Benz Cabrio at 280 KmH on our German Freeway, where thanks G.O.D, we had no speed limit. This was a big kick! But the whole Idea was meant for Taxiing, and these extra 20cm tilting your head over the canopy border makes a BIG difference. To better understand the difference, try your TrackIR in a P-51 in FSX...

No wonder it was weird. Due to ZIP compression, the prior TRACK attachment was corrupted. I've uploaded today a new TRACK and re-downloaded for checking and is OK. More details are in the first announcement. I'm really sorry

This 20cm TrackIR Tweak is an enhancement to the pilot view, but not to the extent of making the zigzag Taxiing needless.
-
On a hot summer day, when you're on final descending with 120 nm for landing, don't you think opening the canopy would be cool; like flying a biplane!
-
how about strapping your seatbelt after Taxiing, just before Takeoff? in gavagai's picture above, you can see how the pilot's head is beyond the canopy's frame and can further stretch out 10 cm more if his seatbelt was unstrapped. This 20 cm TrackIR side Tweak can make a big difference into the pilot front view.
-
The TrackIR DOF movement (left & right) needs badly to be widened to the extent, that the pilot's head can lean out of an open canopy so that taxiing sight is easier, like in a real plane. Once the canopy is closed, it is reset back to current position. In all other AIs, the head's movement is limited by the windowpane, with the Exception of the P-51! If you want to see how good is it popping your head out of the canopy, try it with the A2A P-51 version in FSX! When you got used to that, it's kind of weird when your head is suddenly obstructed by an invisible barrier (in an open canopy). So for the sake of improving Sims realty, vote for yes! See gavagai's picture three step below

It's a good thing to have effective Ka-50 strike capabilities, (referred to their programming) but not to the extent to go over the plausibility of common sense! These critics are based on self programed missions, where all wingmen parameters are well defined/known (Weapon type, distance from target etc). Their recognition speed of targets and destroying them is an amazing real piece of work! I'm talking here about receiving COM reports of target hits on a 3 seconds frequency basis! At long distance where every experienced pilot knows how much time is needed to enlarge the SHKVAL FOV for target recognition, slewing and zooming it, let alone the "Time On Target" needed for the laser guided 9A4172 missile to reach its target, then after all it's not a Fire & Forget weapon to be shot like a machinegun! It's such an event that spoils the simulation reality, by giving you the impression of wasting your time in a boy's Game. :joystick: A Pledge to the programmers: I'm aware of the programming complexity in defining the right algorithms for a minimum of simulation virtuality, but the parameter of the time needed for a laser guided missile is well defined, and at least THAT should be embedded in the "firing sequence", so that the next missile is not to be fired before the prior has reached its destiny, with at least 3 second delay and more depending on the distance of the next one for slewing, caging and lasing the target. Keep on the labor with the good work
