searching for 109K4s stationed in Austria during 44-45
9.JG27 DavidRed replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in Bf 109 K-4
ah well both skins are available on several sites, and on all of them there is the mention of those two aircraft captured in Graz Austria at the end of the war. we havent found any photographs yet though. -

Takeoff with bombs too sluggish?
9.JG27 DavidRed replied to Buzpilot's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
^^i dont think so...i think its just you becoming better, and therefore dont having problems with a linear curve aka no curve setting anymore.since i got used to it, i would never ever even think about a curvature setting on any axis for any plane... -
yeah would really be a shame, because it is looking really good! and yeah, believe me, as soon as we have either the mod, or ED's B17, or any other ww2 bomber, those AN26 will be removed in a second.

Takeoff with bombs too sluggish?
9.JG27 DavidRed replied to Buzpilot's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
nope its very possible to take off with bombs on the dora, just takes a little longer to rotate. -
^^well this, but also i fear that if they dont release it soon, then sooner or later this mod will become obsolete as ED is building a AI B17 as well...ok we have no clue when thats going to be, but still...

hey guys!as I and a couple of friends are from Austria, we started to research for 109K4s which were stationed in our country back then to create some paintschemes....it turned out to be a pretty tough search, and its really hard to find something in the web...while there is lots about G6s and also G10s and G14s, especially the K4 seems to be very shy :) so so far, we have found only two paintschemes which were actually found in Graz/Austria in 1945 and: as this communty is big, and as i know that there are quite a few among this community with detailed knowledge and also good sources, i thought i would post this here, to get more information about those two paintschemes "Black 12" and "White 1" both from II./KG (J)6(photos i.e.), but also maybe information about other 109K4s and their paintschemes stationed in Austria during the war... we also found a few more, which were very likely stationed in Austria as well, but we are not sure about them yet... thx in advance

yes, im also of the opinion that such "little" details go a long way in immersion...brings us quite a bit closer to 1944

stick throttle toggle off? why?:dunno: sure with custom skins, swastikas can be added...but in dcs its even simpler if you insist on a swastika, then just add a "s" to one of the files of the skin and thats it...

yes please as a feature request!!! regarding the pilot and oxygen mask...its hard to say from those pics, but it seems as this pilot is also wearing a german uniform?
-

well, i am no expert on this, and its been a while since i flew IL2 1946, so there is a good chance that im wrong, but i think in real life it worked the way, that the vertical needle showed your position towards the beacon as long as you flew towards it...so if it pointed right, you had to turn left to get it alligned and head directly towards the beacon. once you passed the beacon and flew away from it, it was the opposite, and you had to fly into the needle to stay alligned with the line flying directly away from it...if that makes any sense :) also once you passed the beacon, a red warning light appeared in the center of the afn gauge, indicating that you just passed the beacon.... but right now, the lorenz system is not implemented in dcs, and also the afn gauge doesnt work the way it should.and it takes some effort to get the needles to do anything at all in a mission...so right now, you just always want to fly into the needle.thats pretty much it. the outer-beacon is placed 5km ahead of the airfield. once you pass that(watch the needle jump) you switch on channel 4(marked with a square), to receive the lorenz beacon(inner-beacon), which is placed directly behind the runway. so to really end up heading towards the runway, and not somewhere next to it, you should try to approach the outer-beacon already with the runway heading or close to it. -
i would be really surprised if pilots back then had left it in the holster all the time...i even get rid off my kneeboard as quick as possible and only have it on my lap when really needed...and that thing is a tiny lightweight thing and not covering any gauges or anything, and still its getting on my nerves. that flare pistol though is a rather big item in a pretty tight cockpit, covering some gauges and even pull handles(not unimportant ones either) sure thats an assumption but i guess if there was the possibilty to remove that gun, and all those pics and docs from the last few pages indicate there was, then most pilots would have placed that pistol somewhere else, and only put it into the holster once really needed.for sure i would do so at least. really interested what Erich has to say about it though! quite inconvinient it seems:

mh i dont know, i always see the battery getting lower and lower when i do some longer or multiple flights in one aircraft.after the first flight you can already see the gunsight and other light sources getting dimmer and dimmer...after the second flight the gunsight is hardly visible anymore and most of the time at one point its starting to flicker...at that point, you also have to pull the gun trigger in the correct moment or your guns wont fire(so often you have to pull it 2 or 3 times until your guns are actually working again)....all those little details really show the depth of this simulation...but i wonder wasnt the battery re-charged once the engine was running at reasonable rpm?
-
well i would love the feature to toggle it on/off....as it seems to cover the view of some gauges...as for the function of the flare gun itself...probably a nice little fun feature, but way down low on the priority list for me personally.

mission is prepared for the release of the K4. so 15new slots on the german side labeled Me-109K4_01 - Me-109K4_15, based in Mozdok. should be fully functional, including the point system&AFN2 homing system. only downside, its still fw190s...so now we are waiting for ED to finish their job, and then it should be only a matter of a few minutes to adjust the mission. -
has anybody seen this already?
9.JG27 DavidRed replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
ah wonder how i missed that...ok so it looks like we wont get these for now.. -
^^still its nice to see those vids and have a look at what edge is capable of.

http://psy06.deviantart.com/art/Yak-9U-cockpit-for-Digital-Combat-Simulator-468427085 wonder, is this real, or is this known? there are cockpit renders of La9, IL4, Yak9....

thx for that doc! ok so it was removable then!so question remains will we virtual pilots be able to remove it?i really hope so. im pretty sure we wont get an answer on this until we have our hands on it though...
-
^^yeah i think thats what it was used for...question is, was it always in place there, or could pilots remove it to have a better look at the gauges?will we be able to remove it if it was possible in the real thing?
