  1. And that's the reason why you can't get near that stage, young Jedi... ;) It is difficult. But: Get that thought out of your head ;) As long as you think 'it is difficult' all the time - it will be difficult. Calm down, stay cool. If you disconnect just fall behind the tanker for some seconds. Relax. Use curves for your joystick. For the TM Warthog I use Deadzone 5 and Curvature 16. Shush... you can admit it: You were at least tempted... ;)
  2. The weird thing is that it really gets quite easy once you get the feel for it. You stay cool. You trim with ease. Compensating pitch, roll and yaw movement becomes routine. You can even look around, check gauges, watch the scenerie... you may sing a little bit (troll-lo-lo-looooo...) All is nice and easy. But dare to stop refueling training for a week or so... it will start all over again...
  3. Had an error when I followed the provided link. But it now seems to work again.
  4. What? You are flying a military plane and don't know what TVV is?!?!? :D:D:D I should have been more clearly. It's nearly impossible to fly behind the tanker without any stick input. But it's way, way easier when you're fine trimming all the time. What I meant: I suggested to fly the plane by only adjusting trim for practice purposes. Just choose the freeflight misson, fly around and practice trimming. Fly straight and change throttle back and forth and compensate the pitch of the planes nose by trimming. Soon you'll learn that any change of controls and throttle input changes the trim of the plane and that you can compensate it by... well, trimming. Should be kind of second nature ;) Any, even tiny changes in throttle (and thus speed) will change the pitch of a plane (basic principles of aerodynamics ;) I guess you know that :)) In a quite unusual situation like flying behind a tanker you really have to take this in account. Throttle up - the nose will rise. Throttle down - the nose will point down. You may not notice that when you are flying alone and it's not that relevant. But when refueling in the air it becomes very obvious. Watch this video from Grayson Frohberg: It's funny and the trick with the throttle works quite good. Have fun learnig aerial refueling! Oh, and try his trick with the singing. It's the best thing I ever learned to refuel mid-air :D
  5. Start DCS multiplayer and search for the 'Virtual Aerobatics' server.
  6. The 'bad boy' is a tame, gentle buddy. As long you are sitting on the right side of it's gun... ;)
  7. Don't forget to hit the nosewheel steering button after a disconnect to reset the aerial refueling status lights (right side of the HUD)? No reset - no connect - no fuel ;) You may try to keep one eye on the TVV of the HUD. That works pretty good. Don't fly the plane with the stick - fine trim it all the time. Trim, trim, trim! Only minor adjustments with the stick. Try flying alone and hold your TVV centered by just flying the A-10 with your trim adjustments. You'll get used to it ;) And: completely ignore the boom. Forget that it's even there ;) Stay cool, calm and collected. I love aeriel refueling :D
  8. Guys, you are too patient. Given the fact that this is the first post of this guy, to me the content is clearly too outrageous and rude - and too confusing.
  9. Trim, trim, trim... ignore the 'boom' - keep one eye on the tanker, the other on the 'TVV'. Stay cool, calm and collected. It's so easy once you've learned it. :smilewink: Nice video! I'm sure that it will help new pilots!
  10. Before you get confused: The boxed version of the A-10C you have installed is not compatible with DCS World. Just download the version KillaALF suggested and install that one. You can use the activation code of you 'older' version of the A-10C.
  11. To be more precise: You operate the rudder by pushing the pedals with the heels, You use breaks by tipping your toes forward.
  12. It's like the break pedal in a car (toe break). Only difference is that you have two break pedals.
  13. Here you'll find the module you need: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/modules/dcs_a10c_warthog_english/? Since you've allready installed DCS World you just have to download this A-10C module and install it. You may delete the standalone version - the DCS World A-10C module will benefit from the auto-updater function. I also suggest to skip the game mode. Learning the A-10C is a great pleasure.
  14. I agree. :smilewink:
  15. Nice! I always liked to read your constructive contributions in the RoF-forum! Nice to meet you here. The internet is a small village...:smilewink: Welcome to a new addiction! :D Do you mean that your axis assignments are messed up? Can happen in the beginning or when you connect new hardware. I once had a hard time when I had my space navigator (3D mouse for modelling) connected and DCS felt the dire need to assign pitch and roll axis to it...
  16. Hi, same Gavagai same as the Gavagai from RoF-Forum?
  17. It is that good. It is that good. It is that good. It is that good. :D:D:D Sooner or later you'll buy it anyway :smilewink: :joystick:
  18. I personally don't use snap view. But before anyone is doing something unnecessarily time consuming: The updater made a backup of your old 'Config/View' folder. Just go to the DCS directory and open the backup folder. There you'll find your old settings.
  19. You may be right that rudder pedals can't be considered as a must.. But I personally can't think of flying without my trusted simpeds.. The Cougar MFD's are a great addition, yep. I don't know if I would like the Oculus Rift, because you actually can't see your MFD's when flying... You may bridge the waiting for the OR by checking out 'FaceTrackNoIR'. Good thing is that you just need a webcam. I'd check it out. Head tracking adds intensity and immersion.:joystick:
  20. Welcome to the addiction :D Say goodbye to friends and family, they'll hardly see you for a while... Little tip to enhance your TiR experience: Check out PeterP's view settings. They work great, because they simulate an 'artificial neck': http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96116 First post, see attachment at the bottom. You'll love it. It feels much more realistic. You can try to tweak the standard 'smooth' TiR profile to your needs. Works quite good with Peter's *.lua file. Have fun! Regards Konrad
  21. hmm, no idea what caused the cam problem... but it is possibly a messed up input file... Try this: Go to C:/users/*user name*/saved games/DCS/Config. You can temporarely put the 'Input' folder to your desktop (if you need a backup). Next time you start DCS that folder will be created with default settings. Now check the external cam again. The 'mini mouse' on the TM Warthog is used to slew the cursor of the TGP. It can possibly be used as a 'mouse substitute' by setting the paddle switch on the stick as a modifier. But in the end: with the Warthog there is not much to click in the cockpit when you engage targets, because everything should be set before you start your attack run. During the attack there is no need to get your hands off the Hotas. While in level flight or target approach it doesn't bother much to perform some mouse clicks. :smilewink:
  22. Nope. They have different skill levels. The capabilities ranges from pretty darn good for the 'average' AI to bloody darn good for the 'excellent' AI. Can be a little bit intimidating for newcomers. The excellent AI seems to be able to fly on the razors edge all the time. There should be an AI that is below the level of the 'average' one. Would help newbies to learn the P-51 in a dogfight in a less frustrating way. What I personally don't like is that the AI does not make any mistakes.
  23. For what? TM Warthog is plug'n'play with the A-10C module. All buttons are assigned like they should. No need to run Target. It's useful for the Ka-50 and the P-51 if you want to assign all switch positions.
  24. Aside from the fact that the TM Warthog should be plug and play for the DCS A-10C. At least as long as there are no additional unnecessary controllers connected. I would recommend to steer clear from the 'Target' software for the DCS A-10C. Can be a helpful tool - but not for the A-10.
  25. Nice! What ever the problem was. Good thet it's gone ;) Happy flying! As Eihort mentioned: check that the "synchronize cockpit controls with HOTAS" option is ticked in the 'options/misc.' menu.
