Or go to your DCS folder. C:\***\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" Mark the DCS_updater.exe and make a linkage of that file to your desktop. Now you can click update as often as you want... Btw: I get the message: Update server can't handle your request... Sigh... Any idea what to do?!?!

Guys, what are you doing with our trusty Warthog?!? Fox two in a dive?!? Engine flame out at 10 seconds negative g or at 430 kts?!? I think I should develop a more aggrassive flying style... Apparently the A-10C is a disguised fighter plane... ;)

Cool setup, Seikdel. That will help a lot of newbies to find a useful setup for the TMWarthog hotas. Here is another suggestion: I'd recommend to map the elevator trim to the slider on the throttle (the throttle friction slider in the real plane). The P-51 needs constant elevator trim input and I think the slider is more comfortable for finetuning the trim in a dogfight. I've mapped the aileron and rudder trim to the coolie hat of the stick.

Setting color temperature to a more cold setting (like 9300K) or changing color space to sRGB (if possible with your monitor) may help also to get a better contrast.
-
My monitor has a setting for saturation. But it should be possible with the Nvidia or AMD (what ever you use) settings menu. For Nvidia it's called 'digital colormatching' or something. You can also try to adjust 'gamma' by lowering it's value. Make shure to remember the values - it's quite easy to mess the settings when you're not shure what you do ;)
-
I set my monitor to the highest contrast settings possible. Brithness to an average setting - shouldn't be too bright. It's ok when it looks quite awful for normal use. But it works pretty well for gaming in general. And I crank up the saturation. This will additionally let the opponent 'pop out' from the background. Happy hunting!

You need a tool like fraps or dxtory (about 30 Euro). Then you can record your own movie after you've saved the trackfile after a successful flight. With a program like Photoshop (or even the free 3D program Blender) you can cut and edit your little film (maybe adding sound and music). Btw: Check out the 'Show me your mad dogfighting skills!' thread. Great for study and learning :) Here's the link to my P-51 vs. Dora video:

You use the Saitek pedals? You need to invert the axis of the brakes in the otions menu. Brakes will then work in a 'non-surprising' way ;)

Bug with TRIM single player missions
Konrad Friedrich replied to con3para's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
weird... You're not mistakenly fly in game mode? Or did you check the mapping of your trim in the options menu? Any mapping conflicts, perhaps? -
30% - 50% fps drop after adding Huey module
Konrad Friedrich replied to malibu43's topic in Game Performance
Sorry - can't help you with your problem. But for any guy who may can you should provide them with your system specs (CPU, RAM, OS, 64 or 32 bit, and so on). That will help them a lot ;) -
One of the nasty things that you have to deal with flying helicopters. Apart from the other one million nasty things. :P I can't remember who said it - but it's true: (Think it's from a movie) I don't trust aircrafts which wings are moving faster than the rest of the damn thing. :joystick::D:P

Check your HSI (Horizontal Situation Indicator). It's the instrument below the 'Attitude Director Indicator' (artificial horizon) on the front dash. In the upper left corner you'll find the range indicator which provides slant distance from your aircraft to the selected steerpoint. When you follow a flightpath to your airbase (which you normally will do) you can check your distance on this indicator. When ATC provides you with the heading dial that course in with the course set knob in the lower right corner of the HSI. Now just follow the bearing pointer of the instrument and check the range indicator to see the distance to your steering point. Just make sure you've set the right steering point. The selected steerpoint is displayed in the lower right corner of your HUD. If wrong waypoint -> make HUD SOI and cycle through the steerpoints with the data management switch of your joystick (or the keyboard). That's all. Just browsed quickly through the manual -> You can find a description of the HSI on page 114.

Just drop me a note if you like to meet me there. Virtual Aerobatics is a great place to practice formation flying. But there are no weapons allowed. I'm not that much into the military or combat thing. I know the procedures and succesfully complete the missions included in the DCS world. But in the first places I enjoy to virtually fly those planes. But - hey, if we can make a good team... who knows ;) If you drop in - my callsign is 'Duc'.
-
Sure. Virtual Aerobatics is a great place to practice and learn. It's a non-combat server. It's very likely that you'll find a seasoned virtual pilot there that is willing to help you. I'm usually there to fly the Mustang - and often help new pilots to get their grips on that plane. The server is run by the Virtual Horsemen - they do formation and aerobatics only. Really nice guys - and impressive to watch their formation flying with the P-51. No danger of being shot. So - if you like to learn in a safe place in an friendly environment you can join. The only thing that can be scary are those high speed low passes and sonic booms 30 feet above the ground :P
-
If you like we can meet at Virtual Aerobatics. Just let me set up my rig. Unfortunately no teamspeak. But we can do a little bit of formation flying.

TrackIR Question - When checking six
Konrad Friedrich replied to Wayc00lio's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
If it doesn't work, try the 'remove/delete config folder' trick. Maybe your config file is messed for what ever reason. It's in C:\user\username\saved games\dcs Just put it for backup on the desktop and restart dcs. Beware: Unfortunately all your custom mappings will be gone... -
It locks to six degree of rotation. 'Lock' sounds like it's completely stuck.
-
I presume that one can uninstall LOMAC after FC3 is installed and activated?

TrackIR Question - When checking six
Konrad Friedrich replied to Wayc00lio's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
Wayc00lio, I've just checked it. I lean to the side where I want to check and look at six. Pretty much what you want. I've attached the profile that I use for a while. As long as you use TrackIr 5 you can give it a try. Think it's from Wags with some minor tweaks. Make sure to change the 'center' and 'pause' hotkeys. Place it in c:\programme(x86)\natural point\TrackIr5\Profiles. I also use PeterP's proper neck 'mod'. Some like it, some don't. Check it out. It feels more natural, at least to me (and PeterP, I think :P). It's here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96116 (end of the post). DCS - TiR Profile.rar -
TrackIR Question - When checking six
Konrad Friedrich replied to Wayc00lio's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
Hmm... I'm pretty sure that my TiR behaves not like this. I have to check it and drop a note here. I think there are some TiR profiles here - you may check them out: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/ Or I'll send you my TiR profile. @kontiuka - the ejection seat of a military plane is not a chair. You won't see much if you turn around like you described ;) You would be starring at the headrest. -
Set curve on the Z-axis of your joystick. Go to options/controls/P-51/axis and choose the twist axis of your stick, then click axis tune. Apply curve and dead zone to your likings.
-
And I bet: you won't regret it  (after a little bit of swearing like: ahhh... bitch of a helo... damn, gnaaa... aaaargh... and so on... :P)

Would you want/ allow flyable civilian aircraft in DCS
Konrad Friedrich replied to Kroll's topic in DCS Wishlist
Some seriously good thoughts, Fangav. A Cessna by DCS would certainly drive attention of all the student pilots world wide. That would be a great opportunity for ED. The more people supporting ED - the better for us customers as well. Really good thought. -
Would you want/ allow flyable civilian aircraft in DCS
Konrad Friedrich replied to Kroll's topic in DCS Wishlist
Well, I'd be happy getting a Su-26 or a Extra-300 aerobatic plane. Not exactly civilian, but at least civilian sports planes. Would be fun to be able to do real aerobatics :pilotfly: And yep - a glider, Mnemonic. That would be great! -
dcs mustang Rudder effect much too strong
Konrad Friedrich replied to bestan's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
The guy who was on the controls of the white/yellow plane (at ca.30") is not only pretty damn good. He has cough, cough... (sorry) big hairy balls... :shocking: Even if it's a rc plane - this needs real (I mean real) control of that thing! Wow. This needs trust in your own rc piloting abilities and a good bunch of courage... Nice video!
