OFF-TOPIC: Yes, the 'black tulip'. As it is displayed in Hartmanns Wikipedia entry. I think there was only this version of Hartmanns 'Bundes-Luftwaffe' Sabre.

You simply did not meet your master :D (Take it as a friendly jibe ;)) I met several P-51 on your server - and none if them had the slightest idea how to dogfight... Turn and burn - 10 feet above the deck... Pointing up at me until they stalled, spraying .50cal rounds into the sky... Well... than crashing because loosing control... Got one pilot at 3000 meters that was not that bad but he skipped off the server when I got him in front of my long nose. I hope we will get some decent, gentlemen pilots on the servers who take these sim planes serious and use them as intended... But really the last thing I want to see is that it get's into a 'E-Sports' event. I was quitting RoF because of that (ok - hardly compareable to DCS).

These 352 confirmed aerial victories had a good reson, I guess... ;) Off-topic: Btw... wouldn't it be a nice idea to make a F-86 Sabre Skin with Erich Hartmanns colours when he was leading JG71 of the BundesLuftwaffe in the late 50s/early 60s? Anyone? :music_whistling:

Your hilarious description eases the pain I've gained the last two days... :P The good thing about Dora's TO and landing behaviour is: Most of us share the pain. We are not alone... ;) After all - she's a german girl... They can be a little bit haggish in the beginning. But once your past their defenses, they are sweet and tame. ;)

TM Warthog use of flaps and engine start
Konrad Friedrich replied to Wissam24's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Hey! Very nice! Thank you! -
I agree...

Next problem occurs when you try to take off on a server with the slightest lag... I can handle it now in single player after I tried Vipers suggestions. (Thanks for that) Not very aesthetic and a little bit shaky - but I get airborne without any accidents. Repeatedly. I think two dozen TO without any problems (apart from lack of aesthetics...) But on a server - absolutely 'no-no'...
-
No need to tell me that. I'm with DCS since the beginning. ;) Regards, Konrad :pilotfly:

Thanks, 159th_Viper, that hint helped a lot. Any other frustrated fellows should try this too. Thanks for the help again!

There is a point where you can say: It is a computer game in the end. A very well done game (or call it 'sim' if you like). But it's a computergame. You don't need to 'simulate' everything to a point where it get's ridiculous hard. Or at least for the majority of the players.

No - I mean that it has to be re-worked in a way that people which does not have the expensive and fancy stuff can perform TO and landings without frustration. As it is at this time, I think the only way to get warm with this in a accaptable amount of time is to use rudder pedals with toe-brakes. I got a set of old Simpeds without brakes. And I can't - by any means take this thing off the ground without lots of sweating and swearing. If I can at all. Maybe more practice can help - but hey, I got a real life...
-
Sorry - but take-off and landing is nothing but a bad joke. This needs re-work. Period.

Oh - no. Not outclassed - not superior. But I think the pony riders need to recalibrate their flying when competing to a human Dora pilot. Both planes are outstanding. And I think both are outstanding hard to master... :joystick:
-
Good point. And I totally agree.
-
Hmmm... Today I've dogfighted repeatedly the AI P-51 and did not even use MW-50 and downed the Pony literally at will. :joystick: The funny thing is: I've never used WEP when flying the Mustang. To me it's more like an 'emergency exit'.

Best advice I can give: First learn to fly in close formation before you try to refuel. -Set up a mission with your tanker at, say 16000 feet, 190 kts. -Give the tanker a straight flight path for 80 miles or so. -Add your A-10 within a few miles of distance. -Start the mission. -Close in. -Don't contact the tanker. Don't ask for refuel. Just get into formation. -Follow him. -Trim and move your throttle gently back and forth to stay right behind him at the exact same speed. -When you feel comfortable: get closer. Until you are in refueling position (check Derbysiegers video and memorize what you should see and what it looks like from your cockpit). -Follow him. And try to fly as calm as you can. -Until you get bored ;) If you feel nervous: drop back a little bit. By leaving out the refueling itself you'll feel much more comfortable behind the KC-135. Learning to fly in close formation and learn how to refuel at the same time is the best way to get frustrated. It is simply too much... :joystick: If you own a throttle with two levers use just one engine at a time. The A-10 will behave much more predictable. Real world pilots manage their thrust that way and it works pretty good. Move the throttle gently back and forth to match the speed as precise as possible. Happy refueling ;) (And don't forget: Besides landing on a boat, aerial refueling is the hardest thing you can do sitting in a plane. It is hard to learn.)

Hey, Fifi! The guy from New Caledonia, right? Konrad Friedrich here, Sop Camel 'hero' and 'brainless stunt' buddy. Gavagai and Josh Echo are here, too. I totally agree. In terms of other PC flightsims DCS is or feels (at least) one step ahead ;) I migrated when I got my TM Warthog and thought: Ok. With that stick you should give the DCS A-10C a try. Well... I own all the modules now ;) Just 'flying' these planes is such a joy. For the most time I'm flying around instead of getting involved in some virtual conflicts. And I love it! Welcome! Take a picture of your family and put it next to your PC monitor. It's possible that you won't see them often the next 3 or 4 month ;) Oh... and give the A-10C a try. You'll love that thing. Promised. Regards Konrad Friedrich (Totsch) Wait til DCS will release Europe 1944. All those lovely planes... sim-grade... sigh... faint... ;)

Better? ;) for your records: copy everything behind the equals sign of the YT URL and paste it between the square brackets after you have clicked the YT logo.

Hi Skithis, you need to reverse the brakes of your pedals in the options menu. Got to the input menu click on the entry for the brakes and then click on the button axis tune (or something like that) and switch them to reverse. If this fails you may have to set them to 'slider' in the same menu. For the TAD: did you switch the scale level of the TAD? By default it's minumum scale level - at this scale level there is no visible map. Only green lines ;). Check the options menu wich is the key command for that. Iuse the TM Warthog where it is mapped by default to the right button. Oh, and welcome to your new adiction ;)

Yep... I know... A good friend is a software engineer... and always when something is going really wrong or does not work and no programming skill will help - he's yelling: 'f**king shitty b+*§$t &%@ gaaaaraaagagaraaagagaaaaaahhh!' and slams his keyboard onto the edge of the desk. When the rattling of the last 'flown off' button has come to silence he sniffs and says: Ok... I should go to and buy a new keyboard... :) hilarious :smilewink: I suspect it's part of the training for programmers. Third semester: smash keyboards and other hardware.:megalol:

My updates stops after 2 or 3 minutes... Server can't handle my request... Since 4 weeks now... frustrating. I'm just downloading the complete world and all the modules and start from scratch. I've just purchased the Mi-8 and can't fly it with my 1.2.4 (yep... 1.2.5. did not update either...). It's frustrating and a little bit annoying and well... not very customer friendly... since I hopped into the DCS thing I was always in trouble when it came to updates... But... alas... it's the best flightsim out there... sigh... ;)

Flaming Cliffs 3 Works with DCS World?
Konrad Friedrich replied to Uberick's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Uberick, it's a good decision to go for the A-10C and the Huey. Because you'll get a life task to master just one of these two ;) And when you finally can manage to perform a ramp start from memory in less then 15 minutes (after several month or so...) ED may will have released the F-15 and the Su-27 modules. These will come with a advanced flightmodel - and probably (or most likely) will give you another life time task to deal with them :joystick: And when you have learned to handle the A-10C and the Huey - well... I think you won't have much interest in the FC 3 planes. Allthough quite decent... they... shush... feel like arcade game planes compared to the other DCS modules...:smilewink: I purchased my FC3 only to support DCS ;) Welcome, get your feet wet on one of the multiplayer servers (like e.g.: 'virtual horsemen' where no guns are allowed), meet some fellow pilots, ask for help if needed... and: Enjoy! You'll love it. It's simply a pleasure to fly them :) Regards -
booohooo.... since three updates for me... sigh... will I ever be able to update... ...alas... ;)

Grrr... you typed a bit faster than me... any idea what is my problem? I get the message: Update server can't handle your request...
