  1. Having a metal base similar to Warthog would be great. I understand the whole concept, but it is really not an option for me. Right now with Warthog, I position joystick between my legs on the chair and put legs on top of the flat base. Or alternatively, I've made a small stand I screw the base of the joystick onto and use it either as floor mounted or elevated center mounted similar to just placing it on top of the chair. I hope you guys do provide either the flat base or at the very lease means to attach the base of the joystick to something (not as it's done tight now near the top, but rather something on the bottom side of the base).
  2. I think I read somewhere one of the Bilsimtek developers saying they won't be doing campaigns for their new modules as it's too time consuming and would require a dedicated person. Don't quote me on that though...
  3. Got mine yesterday after all = happy camper here:)
  4. Now, look at what you did - I'm sitting here at work and just keep checking my email every 5 minutes;)
  5. Hi guys, Not sure if anyone experienced this, but I think text is being cut off in VR. For example, in the first training mission, when covering/setting up Pitch Trim, text was cut off after telling appropriate trim setting based on the load out. I saw red box over the pitch indicator, but never saw any text discussing how to setup trim. Had to go in the settings, find the controls and just play with the trim until I dialed the right setting... Is there perhaps a way to make text smaller? Thanks!
  6. I lost you guys - I've been playing all this time without any tracking issues, don't even know what you are talking about...
  7. Yes, I knew approximately where to head for to finish the Krymsk missions. Still annoying...
  8. #1 is probably a valve that controls cockpit pressurization. At low altitudes it stays open and at higher altitudes spring (or something else) would close the valve and then outside air will be pumped into the cockpit to pressurize it. Not sure if DCS K4 is pressurized or not (and even if it is, if developers actually implemented the visual part of it) so I don't know if it works. This is very similar to how modern oxygen masks work.
  9. Hi guys, I've just started Dora campaign and got through the first few missions. Mission #3 is to fly over to Krymsk and Mission #4 is to land at Krymsk - in both missions I have to contact the tower and in both missions, it won't reply to any of my requests. According to the mission planner, Krymsk tower channel is 39Mhz and is set to channel 1 in my aircraft - however it won't reply to me on either of the four preset channels. Is this a bug or am I missing something? For what's worth - I have no problem communicating to my wingman over channel 2 (38.4Mhz), just as its preset in mission planner...
  10. I've tried it - it was OK for pop up kneeboard (though all Russian characters were garbled), but in-cockpit kneeboard was still unreadable.
  11. Hi guys, I wonder if anyone knows the best resolution and font size to use for virtual kneeboard (the one that appears on pilot's body, not "Shift + K" pop up)? Trying to create Ka-50 start up/checklist procedures, but want to eliminate a lot of back and forth if someone has already worked out what works best for readable kneeboard. Thanks!
  12. Forgot to mention, 45fps with ASW off when looking forward; when looking to the side, it goes up to 60-65fps.
  13. FPS in Spit's cockpit are definitely lower than in other WW2 planes - not sure if it's due to prop animation though. Cold Start mission in Dora gives me 90fps rage at the start (engine off); Spit's Cold Start mission is only 45fps.
  14. I seem to have issues seeing other planes/ground units until I almost literally on top/in front of them. I have object enlargement set to 1.7, but it does not seem to help much. What are the best recommended graphic settings for target spotting?
  15. 1. You do not need 1.5 to have 2.0 working. 2. That's correct - register on site and purchase NTTR 3. Go into the game and log in using the same nick/password as on site; you will get an option to download the map. Note that the only free aircraft you will have is Su-25T and perhaps this is not the best option for VR as it has non-clickable cockpit. I would highly recommend you purchase one the downloadable planes/choppers (there is a special bundle on sale right now for Mi-8 and Nevada map). P.S. VR - in the graphics options menu, there is a VR preset option. Go with it as it's a good starting point.
  16. Price and how it correlates to current DCS experience would probably be high on the list of why VR sets are being returned. Immersion of flight is there, but playability is lagging behind regular monitor experience (lower resolution, harder target spotting, high hardware demands to begin with coupled with the fact you would need to lower graphics settings to make it playable).
  17. Just got my Oculus and I'm blown away. I've had time to do just one cold start in Dora, take off, circle the airport (including shooting up that parked P51) and landing. I see where some people might be disappointed by resolution, but this is a while new world. Couple of questions: - I found it hard to concentrate on gunsight reticle. Everything in cockpit was sharp, but that gunsight projection was as if it was a bit out of focus. - is mouse permanently locked to the center position? Did I miss some option? I've read about this week's patch VR bug and did not download the latest version, still mouse is locked to the center position... - I can lean out of the cockpit even when canopy is closed. Is this normal? - any VR specific options I should be activating? I literally only had time to do one quick flight and did not go into the options (I know there is VR tab there). I've read about model enlargement; are there any other must-do options for VR? Any special software to download (right now I'm using default oculus software with latest firmware for goggles)? - optimal VR graphics settings? I'm on i7 6700k with 16gb ram, gtx1070 and ssd. I've read that people lower their graphics settings, but I did not see any problems with fps during the test flight, also, I usually use Fraps for fps, would it work in Oculus or do you guys use something else to see your fps?
  18. Confirming that deactivating modules and then downloading them on a new PC did not trigger any new activations. I did however used up one deactivation for each of the modules - I wonder what happens when I run out of deactivations? Do they get replenished? Or am I going to be forced into using up my activations?
  19. I've been out of the loop with Mig21 for a bit, but recently started to spend more time in it again - so I figured it's time to reread the manual. Obviously, recommended joystick settings are one of the first things I stumbled upon. I used my liner joystick settings previously, but now I wonder if people actually used LN suggested settings and what is the feel/difference?
  20. BitMaster - by any chance, have you had a chance to compare M2 SSD to regular SSD in DCS? I wonder if extra speed from M2 worth the extra price... Thanks!
  21. Hello, So I've got a new PC and planning to reinstall DCS in the next day or two. I've tried searching around, but don't see a definitive answer on what I will need to do if I start from scratch on a brand new PC. Do I need to to at this point deactivate modules on my old computer or are hardware changes so big that it won't matter and new activation will be used up no matter what? Also, what is the latest word on deactivation - do I go into each individual module and run X_protect.exe or is there an updated procedure now? Thank You!
  22. There was another thread about these extensions, but I can't seem to find it now... In any case, I purchased a set of extensions from Milan and got them yesterday. I'm using all 3 extensions and taking off in Dora now feels almost like cheating. For those who are on a fence about getting extensions (from MFG or others), you should definitely try them.
  23. Obviously it is OP's decision what to get - I merely shared how the whole laptop/mobile thing evolved for me.
  24. I stand corrected then (just for kicks I looked up of how it looks - that can no longer be described as laptop and wont be very 'mobile'). My opinion however is still the same, go with a small desktop - footprint is not much bigger, but cheaper and more flexible.
