[MissionEditor] "Merge" Mission | Templates
Shahdoh replied to FDXMadcat's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Copy/paste objects, and those are able to be done with the static templates. But trigger areas are a bit different for whatever reason. And if names change, then scripts could possibly be affected as well, so again, not as easy as one would think. -
[MissionEditor] "Merge" Mission | Templates
Shahdoh replied to FDXMadcat's topic in DCS Core Wish List
This can SORT of be done by using the "Static Template" feature under the EDIT option. This will save/load ALL objects. It unfortunately only deals with objects so trigger areas, scripts, etc will have to be redone. This in itself can save quite a bit of work. I agree, it would be great to be able to merge multiple missions together, but there is so much going on with names and such that could not be duplicated, could be VERY tough to pull off. -
Blinde, No, that will not happen, because skins do not change the core aspect of the aircraft and its capabilities/performance. In fact, it was Liveries that was one of the main reasons why ED created the saved games area for that type of modifications. It was the beginning of ED's attempts and working with the modding community while trying to protect their own core files.

Can You Fly Formation Aerobatics Without Multiplayer?
Shahdoh replied to CommandT's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yes, on my Reno Race mission built for VARS (Virtual Air Racing Series), I have a pace plane that gets spawned in. I used aerobatic maneuvers to have it do a couple easy 90 degree turns to lead the racers to the race start point. Using triggers, there are voice overs on exactly when the turns are executed. It can be done, but is a very tedious process to get everything timed right. -
Can You Fly Formation Aerobatics Without Multiplayer?

The problem with the AI maneuvers, that your video even shows, is the sudden entry into any transition. This does not bode well for CLOSE formation work. For combat spread, its fine. -
Yeah, there just isnt any water dynamics going on to allow for such a thing in ED in its current state. Sure, you could change the graphic of the dam being damaged, but it would get real clunky/cheezy changing the water texture to show the water level change. Smoking dam, yep.... damaged and crumbling away, not a chance.. Just do not see this happening any time soon.

It has a great lift factor with that wing, but it is also higher drag. It is what makes it so maneuverable.
-
Engine to strong? it is the slowest of the bunch (not counting the I16), and prone to the same overheating issues as the other aircraft.

Can You Fly Formation Aerobatics Without Multiplayer?

anyonebutme, You have just been lucky in one way or the other. Whether it is your hardware combination or something else. But have done ALL of those things and in my experience, if a track is messed up, its just plain messed up. Most of the time its just not following the directed inputs properly. Doesnt turn enough or react in the same way, thus sending the airplane crashing off in some other direction other than the one actually flown. Tracks are MOST reliable when gotten off a machine that had no aircraft flying FROM them, just observing, since they do not have any control inputs. They just track where the aircraft went. But I have seen even those tracks misbehave in my 7 plus years of DCS experience. Take it for what its worth, some people have great luck, many others have terrible luck and a whole lot fall in between. -
how to disable alt F1 for multiplayer server ?
Shahdoh replied to ariyaner's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
Viff, that is exactly what I said, you just went into a very detailed description. -
Do they still do this training? Sadly, no. This training was done when the KC-135 and B-52 were both part of Strategic Air Command or SAC. SAC pilots took intense pride in flying excellence, professionalism, and discipline. Once SAC was dissolved, KC-135s moved over to Air Mobility Command in the early 1990s. The wifferdill ‘confidence maneuver’ faded with the command. Air refueling today is much more benign. From the article here: https://www.avgeekery.com/b-52-aircrews-used-air-refuel-crazy-bank-angles-just-prove/ Plus, it only mentions it was a thing with the B52, no other aircraft.

how to disable alt F1 for multiplayer server ?
Shahdoh replied to ariyaner's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
In the mission options (Mission Editor), enforce "External Views" and UNCHECK the value. Leaving it checked will allow viewing from outside the aircraft. THings like padlock and also ALT F1. If unaware, in mission options, the left side check boxes when checked, set it so the server is enforcing the OPTION. The right side is whether that OPTION is enabled or not. Want to enforce fuel limitations? Left side check UNLIMITED FUEL, right side UNCHECKED. It is a bit counter-intuitive for some, but once you get used to it, it makes sense. -
Did the Me262 get dropped?

Can You Fly Formation Aerobatics Without Multiplayer?
Shahdoh replied to CommandT's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Because to many have seen their track aircraft go no where near where it was actually flown to, IF they even get off the ground when a take off was involved. There are many factors that cause this so is hard to nail down. And its not that it is a bad idea, it is a good one, but one that needs track files to be addressed before it can truly be enjoyed to be used. -
How to know if your in open beta servers list?
Shahdoh replied to Mingusthered's topic in Multiplayer
There really is no "Open Beta" server list versus "Release" server list. It is all by which version number either is on and if they are compatible with each other. IF/WHEN they are on the same version, OB and RELEASE clients will all see all of the servers and can fly together, but only when on compatible versions. Usually, OB is on its own advanced, non-compatible version, so only OB clients will see OB servers and vice versa. So what you really want to pay attention to is what version number of DCS you are on. Your server list will reflect as much. -
The Mustang still has the "Lockup" as well. In my experience with the DCS mustang since 2013, there has always been 2 engine failures. The Lockup and the loss of power.. Before, the engine would stop and wind mill. Now, there is a wavering of power, but the engine continues to run, but the power drops off as you describe. The minor difference is that the engine, still running, can pull you a bit further than the dead, yet windmilling we had before.

Remove WWII Fantasy Skins from Mission Editor
Shahdoh replied to healerf18's topic in DCS Core Wish List
By the way, ever hear of this guy called the Red Baron? He went beyond military protocol and he and his men painted their war planes in crazy, unrealistic, non-military colors. And why did he do that? hmmm??? To disrupt and disturb the opponent. To let them know that HE and his group were in the air. This is not so far off of that premise as people choose "non-standard" paint schemes if allowed. So, if going for a specific history accuracy, yes, the server can lock it down, and if the server does not have the livery you desire, make the request to have it added to the mission. If not, just remind yourself that the enemy is just trying to get in your head with his choice of livery. Do you let him??? -
Bort numbers are many times in the description lua 1 digit at a time, so it may be that you missed an entry, or need to find what it is for that particular one and add it in. Edit: Some things to keep in mind concerning the description.lua entries, lets break down what each section does: {"su27_tex01", 0 ,"Su27_tex01_for",true}; "su27_tex01", is the link to the actual part that is getting painted - this MUST match with the info in the .EDM file 0 , this section is for the value for the type of layer or texture this is going to be (2=Spec / 0=Dif / Decal / etc) there are others but do not know the specifics "Su27_tex01_for", is for the name of the texture that will be used on this part. If the next value is true, this MUST be in the texture.zip file for the aircraft (usually the default name). If next value is false, you can name the texture file anything you please and it should be in the same folder as this description.lua true tells DCS whether the texture file is in the default location (in that aircraft's texture\Su-27.zip file) or (false) = its in another location, usually the same folder the description.lua is in.

Remove WWII Fantasy Skins from Mission Editor
Shahdoh replied to healerf18's topic in DCS Core Wish List
But people just remove the country tag from the description lua's and any livery is available again. Only way to restrict is is by the mission not allowing it to be changed and setting the ones they want. OR those that find those skins disruptive to their enjoyment, not have them available on their machine. Either way, its not really up to ED to control. -
Can You Fly Formation Aerobatics Without Multiplayer?
Shahdoh replied to CommandT's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Pretty sure when you convert it to a mission and run it again, the old aircraft does not follow the track but the original mission. Will have to double check that though. -
They obviously do not know as much as they think they do if they did not know that the Mustang has been capable of 330+ knots at sea level for 5 years or more....
-
Sorry, that statement is a bit vague. Boost to what? Speed? MP? Give me more context. I have explained exactly what and how and for how long its been acting this way in DCS.
-
So, no pilot in history has ever turned off an automatic mode to manually control something to get more performance? No one has pushed higher power settings than "recommended"? That is all that is being done, and is no exploit. The controls are being used exactly as the pilot would be able to do so. Unlike the 109 TRIM that people use in combat to circumvent the stick forces being implied by the flight model, but that is going off on another tangent.
-
Ah, see, now I asked for that clarification earlier in these posts. You are concentrating on the damage model changes. Your right, the damage model is a mess, we all have known that, and yes, they are making changes to all of the aircraft. We all know they are not done with those changes and hope they will be fixed soon. Again, I was only referring to the base performance capability of an undamaged P-51 as it exists in DCS, and it has not changed in 5+ years.
-
No denial, my comments where only to clarify an inaccurate comment you made. You assumed there was a performance change recently and I pointed out that the Mustang has not changed. That is all.
