  1....sorry, didn't know.
  2....was so excited when I saw this post...soooo dissapointed that it's a giant bug...
  3. For anyone that hasn't seen speed and angels, if you're interested you can see it free here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/49206/speed-and-angels.
  4. Why did this get moved to the dcs forum??? edit...maybe it was moved from the dcs forums, but it's still displayed there? Oh, well I'll just resign myself to confusion...
  5. I have an implementation question... From what I've read the sequence will be: 1)mission loads 2)track plays 3)player takes control My question is - How will the player know when the track is ended and that he/she is now in control? Does text pop up on screen that says "Go!" or some such, or is it a visual thing? This might sound like a stupid question at first, but what if the track takes place entirely in the cockpit? If the end of the track has the pilot looking forward in a neutral position, how is the player alerted that he now has control? Does the game pause? Is it seemless? Could we get a short vid of how you've implemented it? Just wondering... BTW, no biggies on the patch not coming till august. I'm expecting my first child to be born in a few weeks and I doubt I'll have much time for this game for the next few months...
  6. I need a little trouble shooting here before I actually declare this as a bug and put it in the correct forum. Therefore anyone who has experience with this and could give me a hand would be welcome. Situation: I decided that I wanted a new radio station. I edited the beacons.lua (with notepad ++) and added a new radio station under radiomayak titled "PinkFloyd". I entered the correct coordinates from in-game locations that I scouted out and converted into decimal format (via a handy converter that I found online). I made a new folder in my sounds/samples folder entitled RadioPinkFloyd. I then put about 20 songs in there (guess which artist ;)) and deleted the sampledurationtable.lua... My problem is two fold: A) When in large missions (the grand campaign) if I try to switch to the radio channel my game immediately freezes completely and just sits there. I have to turn off the computer entirely. B) When in small missions I can usually get it to work just fine however if I underspeed my rotors for too long the radio station dies. That's not the problem. The problem is that even after my systems come back from the power loss of underspeeding the rotors the music doesn't. I can change to the normal freq and talk with a tower but the radio station I had on before doesn't come back even if I switch away from the radio station and then back to it again. I am relatively sure this is a bug, but am not sure. Shouldn't the music come back once power is regained from underspeeding the rotors? If anyone thinks of something I missed or am doing incorrectly, could you point it out? I'm sure there's something missing here but I can't put my finger on it....
  7. I like air to ground but I'm also into air to air in a big way. Can't wait for a true multirole fighter like the f-16.
  8. What is your score at the end of each mission? You have to complete each mission at 100% to get a 100% mission success rate (your average).
  9. Infantry with anti-tank weapons pleeeeeaaaaaase. It would make convoy escort soooo much more interesting...
  10. Just re-flew it. Still has some major timing issues. The friendly convoy goes so slow you have moooore than enough time to take your time engaging the two enemy columns. Also: I thought I was supposed to be fighting insurgents and terrorists kicked out of iraq...Normally they don't operate with tanks...The first time your waypoints go zigzag is totally unnecessary. From 200m above the canyon floor, you can just fly straight. And once the enemy convoy hits your convoy's route, why does it just stop and sit there? Could you make it continue into the canyon and turn towards the friendly convoy?....The second mission still has no briefing. Once you complete the first mission in campaign more it says campaign completed. You have to fly each mission individually to fly them all...
  11. Should I refly mission 1 or skip ahead to 2?
  12. Edit: the 2nd mission is missing from your zip file. I only have 1,3,4,5,6, and 7. I'll still fly through them though to see if they're fun on their own... Flying through 1st mission now...let you know how it goes when I'm done :) UPDATE: 1st mission complete, I think...The lack of completion points gets a little confusing. Here are things I noticed: -at the briefing screen- 1) There was no real briefing. Just a short description of the (political?) situation with no actual mission brief whatsoever. When I clicked fly I had absolutely no idea what I was going up against, where I was flying...What am I supposed to be doing in this mission? 2) No briefing photos (see 1.) -jumping into the cockpit- 3) Ok right off the bat I noticed you put the FARP right next to some power lines. That is a big no-no in my book. 4) I like how I started with the cockpit cold and dark. Made me rack my brains trying to remember that startup procedure. I've been playing the other campaigns and you never start cold there. -getting off the ground- 5) Once in the air I found flying through the mountain canyon to be quite fun. However, the waypoints you put into the pvi-800 would kill you if you tried to fly them on autopilot. I tested to see if I could get to the attack point with just autopilot...SMACK right into the side of a mountain... -ingress- 6) I had no idea what I'm really supposed to be doing, so I checked the abris and saw two of my WPs listed as "attack" so I figured, "That must be where I'm supposed to go if I wanna blow stuff up." That's cool, but there's on real ingress point and with the canyon walls being so tight it was hard to get a good peek into the canyon where the first enemy convoy was without having missiles sent my way. -several narrow dodges later- 7) I finally just fly up the canyon a bit and then drifted left letting each enemy vehicle come into sight one at a time and taking them out as I did so...Nice, but it would be better if they were actually moving somewhere...Perhaps to attack the friendly convoy that I flew over on the way here? That would add a time-crunch factor and motivate you to take them out early...And putting them in the canyon with you would certainly make it less of a hassle to engage them. 8) So now that I've taken out the first convoy I decided, "to hell with this stupid canyon. I'm going to climb over that ridge and fly to the next attack point with some cover. So, ignoring the designated waypoints entirely, I made my way to a handy ridge opposite the canyon entrance to attack point two. I rise over the ridge with my guns out looking for bear, and what do I find? Well, nothing really...There was nothing there. Is there some kind of flag you have to wait for? -finding attack point 2 devoid of targets I...- 9) Oh, well, I guess I'll go on to the last waypoint and see what's there. I see on the map it's marked with bpsd (if I remember correctly. I probably don't). What does that mean. This is where the briefing would have come in handy... 10) Fly over the waypoint (at an airport) and nothing shoots at me soooo I guess I'll just land...Is that it? -final impression- Definitely needs ALOT more time and ALOT more polish. Either make the enemy convoy moving to intercept the friendly convoy or else turn it into an ambush and hide them in the trees on the mountain side. Do something about that second attack point. Streamline your waypoints so the don't get you killed flying them with autopilot. Move your FARP somewhere you won't run into powerlines if you're drunk. Fix the briefing. Add some radio calls. Even if you don't change the convoy to an ambush you may want to put some iglas in the trees in the left mountain face just to make it interesting...Maybe just some infantry with AKs...Add a trigger that activates SAMs if you fly outside of the canyon. Flying through the canyon is half the fun of the mission so make staying in the canyon vital to survival so they don't stray and do their own thing like I did. I give this mission a 2 out of 5
  13. A few of those I kinda agree with. Alot of them are wrooooong though: That is not true. OH-58D®s rarely carry a2a and only under very specific circumstances. 90% of the pictures and videos you have seen with a2a attached are bell advertising. That is not true. The truth is that almost all attack helicopters (and by "almost all" I really mean "all") are built to carry a2g munitions. Most attack helicopters are only tested after the fact with a2a missiles to see if they'd even be able to fire them in the unlikely event that some idiot in charge thought it would be a good idea. (And the OH-58D® is not an attack helicopter ;)). That is not true. It was modelled as inactive because in the real ka-50 switch has been left inactive. Not because there were no published references. There are many examples of switches on military aircraft being there but just never used (the f-15's a2g switch for example). Which smaller countries? How do you know this? Do you speak with their military leaders? Are you a supplier?...I'm just saying....first-hand knowledge is better than last-hand assumptions...
  14. Aaaaaaaaaah.....Thanks for the clarification. This makes perfect sense.
  15. Okay, I've RTFM and searched the forums. I give up. When on wp1 the heading pointed on my HSI points in the right direction, but the course line points off in some crazy direction and the course deviation lines are inactive. Is there a button I've missed or is this just something that happens with the first wp?
  16. :megalol:
  17. I hear people saying "hull down" all the time on these forums but I'm a total land combat newb...Anybody care to explain what this means?
  18. I'd like to give it a shot, if that's cool by you...
  19. Does the KA-50 use this operationally in RL (honestly I really don't know if it does)? Because if it doesn't then this is just another "why doesn't the ka-50 have a2a capabilities in BS?" discussion...If you were a russian military commander, would you choose the ka-50 -out of all the options you have- to go take out a ship? Or would you just let the ka-50 stick to what it's good at and pick something built for that purpose?
  20. Good point. :noexpression:
  21. You didn't add an option for "When it's done". :music_whistling:
  22. Yes it is. ;) The way they get it to go further than that is with teams where one lases for the first half of the flight until his laser shuts off automatically and then the other lases for the rest. I still think it's completely unrealistic (not to mention unnecessary) but it is a neat trick.
  23. Ahem: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36643&highlight=ground+crew
  24. Realistic: Literal translation. Unrealistic: Putting what we want there instead of what really is there, ie: "check" instead of "watch"... 'Nuff said.
  25. @ Dusty: Perhaps you should add a poll for scores (100-91%, 81-90%, ect.) so that those of us who have reviewed the sim can enter our scores above and get an overall average of what everyone thinks of the sim...
