  1. I'm not hearing a "clunk" when I pickle...Must need to mess with my sounds settings...
  2. Tried it. Still doesn't work. Just have to wait for ED to see what they can do about it. I'm confident they'll solve the problem in due time. They always have before!
  3. I hate you. Seriously...I'm not even kidding... edit: Okay maybe I'm kidding just a little....But only a little!
  4. I tend to read and fly at the same time. Flying hands on helps me remember all of the things I'm reading so I keep the manual handy while I practice.
  5. the knots that ed modelled look like they're about to come undone lol...
  6. Definitely something multirole. I don't care what. Something I can do a2a, sead, cas, ect. with....
  7. iraq/kuwait/iran please (and carrier ops would go perfect with these... :-)
  8. From page one: Soooo....what you mean is it'll be available sometime next year? :harhar: Not trying to be a pessimist, I'm just saying that sometimes s**t happens.
  9. I do build missions every now and then, but knowing what's coming just isn't any fun for me even with the randomization possible with the new ME. I play online missions too, and while those are sometimes more challenging, as long as you have the patience to avoid jumping into the pot with both feet you're generally safe. I'd say the only thing I really worry about online is long range radar guided missiles, but I haven't run into too many of those online so.... I DO enjoy some user made single player missions, especially those made by Mbot and Ronht where time is a consideration and you're forced to work quickly to complete objectives, but there are so few really good mission builders out there...Like walking into a library filled with books and only five worth reading...
  10. Disclaimer: This is kind of a pseudo rant/complaint. No idea about RL tactics, but my 2 cents about ingame play: Hovering is nice as long as you know where the enemy is and can verify that there aren't any moving targets. Since stationary ground targets don't react to incoming fire, but only fire upon you if you're within their range, as long as you can hover in one spot for 2 or 3 seconds without being fired upon you can hover there for 30 minutes and you'll still be safe (usually). Kind of stupid IMO but hey, I'm not the guy that decided not to put any real AI in the ground targets, so what do I know? Perhaps they had a good reason for making them so oblivious. Anyway, if there aren't any moving targets I'll usually start out at a longer range and hover, scan, shoot anything within range, move in a little closer, hover, wash-rinse-repeat (yawn). If there are moving targets then I'll just figure out which direction their heading (which is idiot proof if they're on a road, and even more idiot proof if they're offroad) and hover off to the side of their route and just shoot them as they come within range. Either way...YAWN. Sometimes if I'm in a hurry I'll fly obliquely towards where I think the enemy is at a slow speed of around 50km, turn on HMS, turn to target, target my shkval out in front of me somewhere, and engage route mode. Then I just look around outside the cockpit and try to pick out enemy targets. If I see one, I just target him with my HMS, wait for my bird to automatically line up the shot, fire, and then target my shkval back in the direction I was heading with my HMS once the target is toast. Because I'm flying ahead so slowly I never have time to enter the enemy's range before my shot lands and I change course back to my original heading. I may fly slowly, but it's faster than hovering every 30 seconds to look for enemies and I make more progress that way. If someone actually does start to lase me or shoot at me, I just hold the trim button, roll inverted and pull the stick until I'm flying the other way at 250km. You lose about 300m when you do that so I usually stay above 400m. Any way you look at it, I've been playing this off and on since BS came out and I have yet to be shot down by anything. I'm actually kind of in hiatus right now waiting for the A-10C to come out. Maybe they'll spice up the ground targets but until then...:sleep:
  11. If you're using the easy/game version of the sim I doubt you'll find much help here. Most people here fly in sim mode where you have to lock targets manually. You should check the key commands in the UI (in-game under the options menu) for stuff like that.
  12. A clickable kneeboard for the A-10C pilot with several pages of checklists, frequencies, ect. (kinda like the clickable kneeboard in falcon 4.0 except expand the idea a bit.
  13. did you blow up the cars? EDIT: This is your third post with the same topic. Are you trying to be screwy?
  14. the patch downloaded from ed worked fine on my electronic download version.
  15. Wish I could just get my hands on the throttle alone. Looks amazing.
  16. When working with the radio stations, do you still have to delete the samples duration .lua? I've edited the beacons.lua to include a new radio station which is basically the same as radiomayak except for the name lat/long position and altitude. It should play the same music from the same folder. However, once in-game, the new tower is not there and I get no music when switching to the freq I set (1050000.0). I've attached a copy of my beacons.lua. Could someone in the know go over it and help me out? Beacons.zip
  17. @ Endoplasmic Reticulum: ED isn;t asking what chopper you'd want to see. Debio is. It's all his fault.
  18. Save any addons you get from there or from lockonfiles.com to your desktop. Open modman and click "mods installer". Then a new page will open and at the top in the middle there is a button "add". Click it, browse to the mod you saved on your desktop and hit okay. The mod will be automatically added to the correct modman folder and will be displayed on the left side of the mods installer page. You can now delete the mod you downloaded to the desktop because modman has made a copy of it and put it in the correct folder. To use a mod, simply go to the mods installer page and click on the mod you added earlier then look on the right side of the page for the "install" button. Click it, and you're all set. Please be aware: Some mods conflict with other mods. You have to be carefull about which mods you use and in which order you install them. For example: When installing both "dragon's sharkpit V3.0" and "Russian Pilot flora 1998 camouflage" install dragon's sharkpit first because the sharkpit mods the entire pit and the russian pilot mod only changes the pilot. In the window where it shows your addons, each addon has a "state" that is color coded. Green means every folder from the mod is installed. Yellow means that some of the files were unable to be installed or else some of the files were overwritten by other mods (which is no biggie and usually perfectly safe). Red means that the mod is uninstalled.
  19. I've got a cougar. Very few complaints. But if you don't have one already, I'd just shell out 30 bucks for a cheapie and make do until the logitech G940 arrives...
  20. 1.01 killed it. You can't edit the encyclopedia anymore if my memory is correct (I remember reading it in the 1.01 readme).
  21. Can't wait for an f-16. The lack of being able to use trackir and click around in the pit at the same time was a game killer for me. I didn't mind the graphics, but I thought it was stupid to have to press 3 or 4 buttons just to look at the panel you want to click and then another button to get back in trackir mode. Multi-role FTW...
  22. Any way to remove the dirty windows from this mod? I've been flying at night and they're really noticeable. Besides, what kind of pilot flies a bird without first making his slave-mechanic clean the windows for him?
  23. The ABRIS is pretty much a stand alone device. All of your HUD info comes from the PVI-800. The ABRIS can be used to give you a visual representation of where you are, where your shkval is pointing, and where different known threats are (via datalink), but you can't use it with the autopilot. You CAN use it to find lat/long numbers for a given object/runway/target point/ect and then input those numbers into the pvi-800 with the edit function. Then you can use the pvi-800 to autonav to that point.
  24. You want a dumbed down version? Desired Heading: Flies you directly towards whatever waypoint you have selected, regardless of where you happen to be when you activate it. Desired track angle: Flies you to the closest point between your last waypoint and the one you have selected and then follows the line towards the selected waypoint. Middle position: Keeps you heading in whatever direction your were facing when you released trim. EDIT: Maybe you want to know why/when to use each one? Desired track angle is used primarily when you need to follow a specific course (ie: to get through known SAM coverage. Desired heading just gets you to the waypoint by the fastest route.
  25. I keep hearing about this "midget tossers" mission online but my ping there is 300+. :( Wish I could give it a go...
