Huh? ...There's no dynamic campaign, the AI is a pushover, and what is with saying that the game being "extremely hard in game mode" is a con???? This guy should be fired...I'm serious. This guy does not deserve his job. Hands down. Period. Anybody speak the lingo and wanna email his editor?

The way you describe this sounds eerily like something you would encounter in RL. I wonder if the guys who fly this for real encounter this problem. In that case, maybe it's not a bug but a feature, lol!:megalol:

85%: Uppers: -Flight Model is sublime. -Interesting helicopter choice (IMO). -Very immersive campaigns. -Good training tracks (although I would prefer them to be more interactive). -Inclusion of triggers in the mission editor makes for some interesting mission design possibilities. -Very few bugs in the initial game. (This speaks very highly of the beta testers ability to catch stuff and ED's ability to fix it.) -Genuinely fun to fly. Downers: -Dated engine with dated graphics and dated capabilities. -No multicore support. -User manual doesn't include troubleshooting/emergency procedures, and while it tells you what everything does, I feel they could have done a better job explaining how to actually go about using all that stuff. -Lack of collideable trees. -Lack of stuff going on besides your own small piece of the world. -Dated comms. -No incentive for following real-world procedures. -Mission Editor is still a little clunky (although vastly improved). -Ground and air AI need vast improvements. -Basically just lockon with improvements. The downers bring what would otherwise be simming nirvana to a grinding halt. Don't get me wrong. I still have great fun playing this sim...But they could have done better. 85%

Reset the exterior view while on ground ...
Rhino4 replied to CrazyD's topic in Screenshots and Videos
I thought we couldn't use notepad to edit lua files or they would be corrupted? Someone said we had to use notepad++? -
I was going to ask this myself, but apparently you beat me to it. Sometimes I find myself going waaaay to fast during strafing runs with rockets (I have a tendency to get fixated). I glance down at the schkval on my exit and realize that I'm going nearly 300kph ias. It would be handy to have a visual refernce in the hud during strafing runs to avoid getting my speed to high (I'm a fighter jock and I'm used to diving at a target. It's an ingrained habit.), but if there's no way to set it like that in RL then I'll just have to live with it...

You might have your pedals trimmed too much to the right. Might try resetting trim...As for your other question: Helicopters cannot hover above a certain altitude. In order to fly higher they must move forward to increase wind over the rotor disk and gain more lift. Altitude-velocity envelope limitations is just a fancy way of saying how fast you have to go at a given altitude to avoid falling out of the sky like a rock. As for where to find it...Perhaps the left-rear side of the cockpit on the door has more info on that yellowish plate? I haven't really read it but I think that's where the info is...
-
Well, it worked with lockon...DCS is pretty much just an upgraded version of lockon with mostly the same code. My guess is that it would, but there's only one way to find out.
-
If you want to look around the cockpit and use the mouse to click stuff at the same time, just hit escape and then cancel...It's a known bug that many people are asking be worked into a feature.

I think being able to make your own template is probably what I would want most...

Not 100% here, but I recently installed the update myself and you have to first uninstall your mods, then uninstall the old modman. Then you can install the new download (which I got from lockonfiles.com). You're going to have to do it sooner or later when you upgrade to BS. Might as well get it over with...

artillery causing slideshow effect.normal or bug?
Rhino4 replied to silent one's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
That depends.... Some questions everyone will want to know for starters: 1)What is your system config? 2)What are your normal/average fps in blackshark? 3)Which mission/campaign? 4)What, if any, mods have you added to the game? -
Can't believe the AI kept it going... The AI is god...Anybody wanna start a church for BS AI?
-
This video was made waaay back when black shark was intended to be another add-on for lockon (hence, you see the a-10 being flown as well). Lots of special effects and video editing were used and a few lockon specific tricks were employed as well. Anything you take from this video cannot be applied to the final black shark production... As for vehicles supposedly taking evasive action, I suppose you're refering to the spot at 20 seconds and again at 4:38? When you have a convoy, and you blow up one of the vehicles at the front, all of the other vehicles will continue straight until they get to the one that blew up and then they will go around that vehicle to continue with their waypoints. That is all you are seeing. A vehicles was destroyed and the vehicle directly behind it turned left (his left, our right) to go around that vehicle. There is no evasive action in DCS:BS. There are only stationary targets, and targets that move in straight lines...;) As for the explosions and such being somehow larger than they are in DCS, there is a way (config file, i believe) to change the size and duration of fires after an explosion...As for anything else you may imply about this video...It's called sony vegas, and it's one helluva video editing program. (Although it costs an arm and a leg, it's totally worth it.) One final note: read the description for the video:

I'd be interested in those tutorials...

LOL. You hit the nail on the head m8. :megalol: -
I believe I read that they were shooting for a february to march timeframe...Hilarious topic title btw. Very appropriate lol. :D

You might try opening the door and slide slipping in from the 3 o'clock position...

if setting speed at zero is no good try setting speed at 1 to have them craaaawwwl... -
Or the upcoming nellis bombing range...

UM...Not sure to feel bad for Mastiff or LMAO...You just can't win, buddy. :D Back OT: I don't know why you're worried Reaper. I've read a few other threads like this here and at the simHQ boards by heli pilots who are worried that once the fixed wings start coming out then "their" sim will stop being "shown the love". The answer is that all aircraft released for DCS will be shown the same amount of care and detailing regardless of whether they are fixed wing or rotary. ED plays no favorites (at least not to my knowledge). Remember that after the A-10C comes out, it will (90% certain on this) be followed 9 months later by an apache (the A model). This will probably be followed by a few more fixed wings, and later on down the road, they will release a Hind. Eventually the engine will get a face lift and you'll see (it's being speculated, no confirmation that I could find) collidable trees, improved optimization, better ground and air AI, new weather effects, along with a whole new list of bugs to find and patch up. :) What I'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter if you come for the rotaries or the fixed wings. You'll get the same amount of attention that every one else is getting. Rotaries are not better than fixed wings and vice-versa. Some people are worried about how Multiplayer will work once fixed wings come out and rotaries become the "helpless underdogs". They are forgetting that you don't have to include both types of aircraft in the same online mission. There will most likely be several rotary-only servers for L33T rotary fiends who wouldn't fly something that couldn't hover even if their wife threatened to leave them (as someone who plays both sides myself you should be grateful I used "fiend" instead of "snob" :D). There will be all types of servers. Some for just fixed wing, some that will probably be uber-realistic requiring teamwork and coordinated cover operations from both fixed wings and helis. Rotary nuts worrying about "their" sim being ruined by jet jockeys who won't play nice when they're on the opposing side is stupid and pointless IMO. This sim doesn't belong to helicopter enthusiasts and it doesn't belong to the jet junkies. It belongs to all of us. You should stop worrying about your own slice of the pie and start thinking about how to make it work for everyone.
