I have my own problem: When I try to run setup.exe (and yes: as administrator), My computer tries to "verify installer" while loading setup. Then it says that the "installer integrity check has failed". It tells me to visit http://nsis.sf.net/NSIS_Error and I've tried all the suggestions there including the one about forcing an install regardless. My install goes through to about halfway and then I get an error that I cannot read. After that I am forced to cancel the installation... :(

Just wondering why this game hasn't been publicized better. Gamespot.com has absolutely no information on this game besides an estimated "tba 2008" release date...No videos, no previews, and their forum has only three topics in it from people who obviously have no idea what this game is about...I'm not criticizing, but aren't you overlooking a few things in your effort to get information on this game out? I've downloaded the russian version, and I must say that based on my initial impressions, I think this game deserves much more attention than it's getting....

I've had trackir4 for a few years now. If it doesn't work, then I don't play. It's become more important to me than my joystick profiles. Fortunately, I've never had a problem and it works as well today as it did when I first got it. Absolutely essential for gameplay. Can't emphasize enough how much I depend on it.
-
Well then how are all these people that say they intend to purchase the russian version going to do it exactly?

@ warthogmadman: Don't forget the blow-up doll's head for obligatory morning BJ...

Obviously, the ka-50 is already day-capable without nvg's. They meant that the ka-50 can be flown in night missions with this hardware, making the ka-50 both night and day capable (although the targeting systems are not night capable): Not that you would use the nvg's during the day...

DCS: Black Shark, Russian Version has gone gold
Rhino4 replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'll be purchasing both a dl version first and a hard-copy later on. Can't wait! Suggestion: Include rudder pedals in the "recommended requirements". -
A new engine is already being worked on, I believe. It won't be released until after DCS: BS comes out, as I have heard that it will be released with the apache or possibly the warthog module. The new engine will address many of the things that people felt were lacking in lofc. There's more info in the faq, fyi.

What makes it funny is that the little animation of the smiley with the joystick could soooo be misinterpreted by someone with a sick mind (me).:joystick:

"ejaculating"??? :megalol::megalol::megalol:

Question: Is there an option for radio speech to choose between english and russian vocals? Suggestion (feel free to discard): Could you have the "Low" "Medium" and "High" setting highlighted depending on which gaphics preset we are using or none highlighted if using a custom setting (makes it easier to distinguish settings)? Also: Thanks for the pics! ED always comes through on the info and lets us get sneak peeks.:clap_2: This is going to be an amazing sim and I have every confidence in you guys that it'll turn out to be one of the best I've ever played.

Are there screens/techdemo of the future DCS game engine ?
Rhino4 replied to mibsk's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Nah, dude it should be at least 9 months (if not more) after initial release of black shark before we start to see the new engine. They're working on it now, but no tech demo so far....Waving grass when you land...That may be a bit extreme and I doubt we'll see it but I would weep with joy if I saw that much detail going into the new DCS engine! -
Mmmmm...Wags answered the question...But he only made me wonder more...If you can eject and then walk around (and from the way he answered I am not sure if you can or can't) then would the enemy still shoot at you once you were on the ground?? Run from the infantry!
-
Twenty-six stages! Every stage with four or more outcomes! Soooooo excited!! That will really add to replayability with the campaigns. Lockon's campaigns were a one-time go-through for me and then I never bothered with them again. Hopefully I'll have more fun exploring in the new campaign system.
-
Didn't feel like reading, huh? Well, that's okay. None of the others felt like it either...Well...Maybe the smart ones...But the others all did what you're doing...So don't worry: You're not alone.
-
youtube? I keep getting errors trying to unzip the damn thing... very frustrated!
-
Okay, question: I read somewhere a long time ago that you would be able to walk around on the ground after ejecting (which I thought was a very funny joke because....why bother???) But looking at your posts above, I am now doubting myself...Soooo...CAN you eject and then walk around???

:music_whistling:No idea yet. All of these detailed specs that everyone keeps asking for about the stuff that comes after BS won't be released until they start working on that specific release. They won't say anything definite because everything is still in limbo and while dcs:bs is feature locked, the other modules most certainly aren't, so telling everybody exactly what is going to go into them is probably a bad idea when they aren't 100% sure themselves. Wait until they say they are working on the mi-24 module to get worked up and start asking questions and I'm sure you'll get better results. For now it is a long time until they even start work on the mi-24 though so I would just put it out of my mind for now (if that's possible:D).

I'm 90% sure I read somewhere that the airbase and terrain mods are not compatible with lockon ReLoad. Your going to have to uninstall all of that and then only install the airbase mod or visa versa (I think).

I remember when those vids first came out. They were cool, but that guy's voice was soooooo booooring I almost went to sleep on the first view.

OH MY GOD THOSE CLOUDS LOOK REAL!!!! OH IF ONLY YOU COULD BLOW STUFF UP IN FSX!!!!

Just on the other end of the rainbow...Pick up the pot of gold and put it in your backpack, then dig a hole halfway to china. Once you're in the center of the earth take out a magnetic compass. Whichever way it winds up pointing at, dig there until you get to the surface where you will have broken through the concrete at ED's secret underground testing facility from where they will someday take over the simming world! Make your way past the guards and into a room with a large pool in it. Beware! There are man eating sharks in it! Knock out one of the guards and feed him to the sharks. Once sated, the will swim through a small hole at the bottom of the pool. Follow them through the hole (take a deep breath!). Once on the other side, climb out of the pool into a small room lined with gold. At the end of the room, you will see a door barely large enough for one leprechaun to pass through at a time. Open the door and squeeze through. You will find yourself in a room with a huuuuge super computer: the only one capable of running the black sharks heavily modified engine before optimization. Crawl on top of the super computer and into a small air vent. Go left, right, left, right, right, right, right, left, right, left, and emerge in a small room where a leprechaun works feverishly debugging the code for BS. ED tricked him into thinking that if he finished debugging the code then he would magically be transported into the DCS world where he would finally retrieve his pot of gold (On the western end of anapa's runway). Explain to him that he has been misled and trade him the pot of gold you found earlier for access to the computer. Open the disk tray and put in the blank DVD. Copy the contents of c:\program files\eagle dynamics\DCS\Black Shark to the disk....Oh wait....I forgot to tell you to bring a blank dvd with you, didn't I? Crap...My bad, dude. Better luck next time. Maybe just wait until they release it instead of going through all this effort to find out when it will be released...

DCS: Black Shark - Q&A **READ FIRST!**
Rhino4 replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I would a few things to hawg's post above: In order for an update to qualify as payware, it must be officially sanctioned by ED. For them to approve, you would probably need at LEAST what hawg said above: If you wish for it to be available free, then you can have anything with or without ED's official sanction. Although I think that without ED's at least initial approval, you won't be given access to the developement tools that other developers who intend to release a payware addon will get...
