  1. Just trying to help... sorry.
  2. DCS is the best combat flight simulator. Also all flight sims require very strong hardware. Care to point us to a "better engine" flight sim?
  3. No other anti-aliasing but 2x MSAA? The image looks a bit soft so I guess there is some postprocessing AA active. So you are not going to use a touch screen for instruments anymore?
  4. Newer AMD cards do not use any bridge at all, all transfered via PCIe now.
  5. Mobo and RAM are overkill IMHO... I would go for 8G RAM and some more reasonable priced Asus mobo. With the money saved I would upgrade the monitor or get a 2nd one at least 1920x1080.
  6. Enter 2x or 4x in the application [DCS] for MSAA, depending how much of a FPS penalty you will see. Otherwise it looks quite ugly IMHO.
  7. One area where AMD has a clear advantage: it can do 6 monitors on R9 series while nVidia does only 4, even on their super expensive Titan Black 6GB. Please note that 6 monitors are done with a MST DisplayPort hub for cards with only one DisplayPort socket.
  8. Take out: heat blur and shadows; set MSAA to 4x. I guess you have it set in 3D settings of video card now. I have found better to set it in game at 4x and set the video card to "application settings" (at least that is how it is called in Nvidia). How do you see the VRAM usage? The only reliable way I have found so far is GPU-Z.
  9. Good choice. Let us know how it works.
  10. 2560 x 1440 is the native resolution of that monitor. Your 670 should be enough at medium settings. You will enjoy the wider field of view and image in general.
  11. You do not need to worry about VRAM if you play at medium settings and resolution 1920x1080 or less.
  12. Gadroc is posting in this forum so wait for him to reply. Software development is not easy but I would love to see more DCS interface added to Helios.
  13. Helios is not dead. It runs very well with 1.2.8 and it is the best spent $20 I have ever done for gaming software. Plus you pay for it only if you want to reward Gadroc for his great work.
  14. I would never consider a laptop for DCS... For the same money as a "gaming" laptop one can get a GAMING PC :)
  15. Standalone, Crossfire or SLI the video memory never adds up. Use your best video card and drive as few monitors as you can for your requirements with that card. Easy to experiment; the moment you have Direct3D on another card the FPS goes down dramatically.
  16. From that link: "The Intel i5-4670K is 69% faster in single-threaded programs." I think it will take a long time for AMD to compete with Intel on high end again...
  17. Griffin, I am running a CPU very similar with what you have, Q9450 overclocked at 3.9 GHz with water cooling. It works great for DCS, even with lots of pixels to be driven :) What video card do you have? I have found that the GPU is the bottleneck in my configuration, in particular the VRAM. My next video card will have 4GB or more. Also how many monitors you use and what resolutions?
  18. Is the real life F-15C capable of doing an ILS landing? Like it was working in 1.2.7, the autopilot was following the glideslope and landing the aircraft if I was doing the throttle. Speaking of throttle... does the auto-throttle work in the real F-15C?
  19. Thanks GG. How about ILS landing?
  20. Thanks Jester. Such changes should be included in the release notes of 1.2.8 but they are not. I guess in a future release they will change the throttle on us silently :bash: How is the autopilot in the real F-15C? I don't think is just alt/att hold.
  21. Autopilot of F-15C 1.2.8 does not work anymore? Also the graphics engine seems to be modified for the worst... on my reference mission, where I use a fixed camera position, the FPS is about 10% less that 1.2.7... No changes on my dedicated system, only the upgrade to 1.2.8. I hope ED will fix the autopilot... As for the graphics engine I have lost hope...
  22. Yes, the dimensions for a 3 projectors setup would help us figure out if we have the room/space or not.
  23. I recommend this touch screen monitor, not much more compared with the touch add-on: http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=10140MN2341&vpn=UM.VT2AA.001&manufacture=ACER It works great for me with Helios.
