  1. And we are THERE!
  2. All this waiting around is eating into my nap time :(
  3. Boy is it quiet in here.... I expected there to be some sort of fuss over the release ;) BTW. I think the Internet is broken... because I still don't have an update.
  4. A litle bit of dirt is acceptable, I can accept that it may have "just got there", but the crackles (which some call scratches) make this look like 30 year old perspex. As an ex groundcrew, who has spent an inordinate amount of time polishing out scratches on canopies, I think they look very pretty, but totally unrealistic & too heavy. If I had one that bad, I would have had to replace it. I guess the problem is that textures and computer monitors are nowhere near as hightresolution as real life.
  5. @Andy1966: So I can fly over my home just across the river from Ex RAF Ford ;) Well at least where my home would be by the year 2017. I hope its better modelled than the one in IL2CoD.
  6. Are you having aileron droop & rotating bomb door? Air start with Palouste? How about buddy air to air refuelling? That would be fun. Can't wait to give it a go (Ex 208 Sqn in the 80s at Lossiemouth - "208 Penetrate!"). No need for all that flaring nonsense on landing - just keep on the glideslope until the ground meets you. If you can damage this kite on landing, then you are doing something seriously wrong ;) PS - a good read on flying the thing ;-Trials and Errors: Experimental UK Test Flying in the 1970s By Mike Brooke
  7. Or perhaps, you might want to place some exported instruments to it. Certain older DCS modules such as A10C & Ka-50 can export their MFDs and some instruments easily. Otherwise, it might be worth looking at IKARUS (see threads elsewhere). You can still have your map, and use the rest of the space for instruments. Trouble is, you can spend as much time messing with settings as you do flying ;)
  8. Is that working now? I thought it was still disabled. I certainly can't get it to work since 1.55
  9. http://www.fightingcolors.com/Spitfireimages/spitfire_page.htm The red one?
  10. Certainly seems that way. On that vid, the horizon took about 40 seconds to right itself after a hard bank. During the manouvre it was completely tits-up.
  11. Iisn't the drop in indicated speed just due to the fact that the pitot tube is not facing the direction of flight, thus decreasing the "ram" effect of the pitot. If it is pitot/static, (which I think the spit is) then the effect of the slip also causes the static port to misread. I believe that the direction of slip can also make a difference. I seem to recall that one direction can increase IAS, and the other decrease it. There is a time delay before the bellows in the instrument can recover, so it is best to wait a few seconds after manouvering to get a more accurate reading. Pilots may differ in opinion... I was just groundcrew ;)
  12. I know this is a bit of an old thread now, but regarding the self editing of the lua files to alter your default fov and views. Since every update resets these, and cloning the structure for each aircraft in your saved games folder (in my case at least) sems to be ignored, I have found that doing it via Jsgme seems to do the trick. This is only an issue with those more recent aircraft that have their own views.lua files. So I just create a folder named MyViews in the jsgme _MODS folder, containing clones of all the relevant aircraft views.lua files copied from DCS EG ..\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Bf-109K-4\Views.lua Edit these and add them as a mod in the jsgme gui. The folder structure used in jsgme for the mod is _MODS\MyViews\Mods\aircraft\aircrafttype where "aircrafttype" uses the exact name of the aircraft as it is in the DCS mods folder.
  13. As I understand it, the RIGHT Viewport will always be looking at 90 degrees to the right, so unless your monitor is actuall at or near 90 degrees to the main (Left) screen, then it will give you this sort of distorted view. Have you tried a 1 viewport solution? IE, do away with the whole Right = part of the configuration above, make the Center config width = 3200; & x = -1920; I tried this on my 3 monitor setup and it worked. The Cockpit displayed on the Left Monitor, and the other one showed a seamless transition to the right, but the 3rd monitor to the right was blank (to be expected, since I effectively shifted everything to the left). To make this work, you need to set up your 2 monitors as a single desktop. With NVIDIA this would mean using "Surround" to combine both monitors. I'm not sure if it works if the 2 monitors differ in size though. PS. Do you only ever turn to the right? ;)
  14. He's probably thinking of the Tucano. F.I. Map from Today or 1982 though? In '82, there wasn't an airbase on the Island, and Port Stanley runway was 1200m at best, about Half the size of Lochini or Adler, and a lot of that was threshold. It was extended for a time, and the RAF managed to land Phantoms on it, so post conflict, Jet fighters might manage, but now looks like it is back to its original length. There are / were quite a few short grass / PSP strips, but that's all there was in 82 afaik. Of course, a modern map can have the nice shiny Mount Pleasant RAF Base, but where's the fun in that? In any Case, it would HAVE to have the lovely little pad called Port San Carlos, where we operated our Chinook from. ;)
  15. I assume you have a solution in mind that means those with wide single monitors / multi-screen / NVIDIA Surround spanning enabled aren't forced to use the default 80 degrees fov, which puts your face about 2" away from the HUD?.
  16. You might not be able to understand the problem because you have a single monitor. For you, the default views are probably OK, but when you have a very wide screen or multiple monitors combined, then the default settings make your FOV far too narrow. It looks like you have your nose pressed up against the windscreen. It has nothing to do with wanting to zoom out further, but to just set the viewpoint up as it is meant to look. Having DCS ignore settings placed in the User folders means having to reset all the views for all the aircraft after every update. Having formats changing every now and then means that the situation cannot be easily fixed. Hopefully, when 2.5 is released, they will at least stop changing things around. Really, all that is needed is an option in the GUI for each aircraft to allow you set the Min & Max FOV. This should be retained between updates. Failing that just let individual aircraft views.lua files be read from the User folders....
  17. What Parking Brake? You mean your brakes are always on? Rudder pedal toe brake axes needs inverting in the control setup perhaps? You can see in the cockpit if they are, if you press the brakes, the toe pedals should dip forwards, same as when you press the W key.
  18. I think 15 seconds notice that your vehicle is about to get bombed probably isn't quite enough time to make a decision, get out and then run a couple of hundred metres to get out of (the worst of) the blast zone.
  19. Nice one Grizzly.
  20. Maybe it's just the way my brain works? I am old ;)
  21. JPG or png will work fine. Kneeboard builder has a built in PDF to bitmap conversion. It's well supported by the author AlaskanGrizzly, with frequent updates, and well worth a look. Even if you dont want to use it, it can be used as a simple converter. You just load a pdf into it and it saves the content as individual files into a folder.
  22. Oh.. that was quick. Thanks Grizzly. I was convinced that it was finger trouble... and I needs my little "cheat" ;)
  23. Easily done old bean :) Backing up as suggested before doing anything drastic is also of course a given.
  24. I have to say this is one of the least argumentative & calm forums I have encountered, even compared to some of the more "Professional" ones I have frequented. No doubt that is at least partly due to careful moderation, as well as the fact that we are rarely disappointed by what is going on here.
  25. Yes it does. Especially it needs a built-in (GUI controlled) FOV adjustment, Kneepad Position and what you said. BTW, for the benefit of others who might expect to see a solution.... edit or delete options.lua to set your resolution, or if you need to reset things outside of the gui. You might find things a bit easier if your 1st monitor is the main one.
