  1. What annoyed me soooooo much about Pimax is that one of their updates triggered a Fuery malware. Was it a false positive? Seems that way as newer installs (new OS) with updated MS Defender signature didn't trigger again. But I opened two tickets, two Pimax forums, asked for clarification via Twitter and NOTHING. Just a simple "it's a false positive and we're working with MS to get it updated" would have been nice.

Actually eye witness accounts are notoriously inaccurate. So much so that there was movement to ban eye witness testimony in court. However, radar and flir tracks don't lie. So expert eye witness account with tracks are far different than "I saw something!" And I put myself in that category. I don't know what I saw back in 1985. But it was pretty awesome sight. My two other brothers still talk about it. And I have always considered myself lucky for having seen it. But the good news is that googles satellite imagery at least backs up my story in terms of what I saw, the mountains and the visuals, etc.
  3. NTTR and Normandy are different issues. With Nevada, ED just needed more time to implement as they focused on Caucuses and Persian gulf. For Normandy, Ugra will have to implement it because it's not an ED product. Before everyone bashes ED, remember, the *ENTIRE* WWII was an independent Kickstarter that was abandoned, which left backers like myself in a lurch. That's the risk of KS and I knew that going in. I chalked it up to an L. But ED decided to pick it up, and I guess, asked Ugra Media for help. I know they are working on the Syrian map, but here's to hoping they fix Normandy.
  4. And the Internet collective thanks you. I keep saying it, but the last Wannacry malware spread because of unpatched Win 7 OS. I know it's fashionable to bash Microsoft. But let's give credit where credit is due. Win10 is a far superior experience than Vista. To me, it's similar to the Win2K jump. Clean efficient and productive. O365 subscription is a damn good deal for $95/year USD. But most importantly, it allows me to fly in DCS and enjoy VR! :D It looks like they learned their lesson going to (presumably) agile development (not related to speed as much as people think it is). And the patch cycle seems to have focused on reducing pain for the end user. And I'm dying to try built-in Linux that's coming.
  5. LOL. mine was when I slammed by face into the lamp because it was a little closer than I thought. I mean, in VR, it *wasn't* there, dammit. :D I just dropped some bombs in A10C and was tracking the bombs and flares as i was egressing.
  6. You know, I've been doing some visual testing between Pimax 5K+ and my Acer Predator (3640x1440) monitor. I mean it's a little better on the monitor, but I can see planes from 5 and 10 miles out. I use my own miz track because I measured out the distance and everything is a controlled test. Same velocity, altitude, etc.
  7. As a P5K+ owner, I'm very curious what the jump will be. And more importantly, if the clarity is enough to sacrifice the smaller FoV. I'll post the review after I receive it. Looks like ShopBLT *is* getting a lot more units but the shipping date is between June 10th, and 21st. I'll be able to post the review on the 15th if my unit comes in by then. Fingers crossed!
  8. Yeah, you do need both. SteamVR is available an option under Steam's Tools menu.
  9. I still remember waiting breathlessly for my CV1 to show up. It sure gave me a lot of good times and I'm glad someone else can enjoy it.
  10. I know of one heavyweight DCS "player" who will be reviewing this product. (I'm sure there will be others) So if there are any questions I'm sure the reviewers will be able to answer them. I too thought "boy those stands look flimsy" but what what's not evident in the picture are things like I-beams, or trusses or other techniques that can be used to make things light but strong.
  11. Ah! I wasn't quite sure what winwing was saying, never having embedded a picture (always use the link) So here's how you can do it. You just place the picture on your server or imgur.com for example. The location doesn't matter so long as it's JPG. Then you can embed the picture in your post by using this syntax your%20picture%20URL%20goes%20here Of course, I had to put spaces in the above because anything in between the and is considered a URL Here's an embedded picture from my imgur. I'm using the following, again, without spaces And here it is:
  12. Ah, makes perfect sense now. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way of creating the PointCTRL usage video. Miles, If you want me to go looking for some LUA mods, I'm happy to do it. Hansang

LOL. I hate it when that happens. Especially when Aliens were enjoying some nice taco bell!

Yeah anyone is capable of making a mistake, in identification or otherwise. But again, the point in these specific cases (I'm not talking in generalities) is that multiple ship crews in multiple weeks with three different flights all saw the same mistake. And that doesn't seem to pass the smell test.
  15. Per Wags, the engine was mostly finished and the folks started working on the many shaders. But make no mistake, the future of DCS is VR and many of us are counting on the added benefits that vulkan brings to the table. Like they *had* to adopt the new terrain modules for 2.5 upgrade, vulkan is required for DCS to stay competitive.

Except the radar speed was calculated afterwards. The initial report of 'incredible speed" was visual (above the sea, obviously). And these are pilots whose job it is to understand BRA. The other thing to consider is the abrupt speed and stopping on a dime. And as Jeremy once said "Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you."
  17. You might want to check out shopblt. I believe Naruto said that their incoming inventory was 200+.
  18. It's a controlled rollout. So not everyone gets it at the same time. If you want, you can go the MS site and download the 1903 Update assistant and kick it off manually. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
  19. It shipped to Sweden. Surprisingly, only 5 people asked for it. So everyone had a 20% chance of getting it. Not bad odds, methinks.
  20. HP site says "ships by June 18th" So let's hope its June.

I don't think alert launches happen for things that make you go "hhhm, I wonder that that is?" In the video, they tell you that it's been bugging them for two weeks and they had no idea what it was. So when they got an aircraft in the air when it happened again, they asked them to take a look. So I don't think there are big holes in the story. I guess what sells it to me is that three different crews of three different deployments saw the same thing. So the CIC people, Hawkeye crews, the two aviators, the two WSOs would all have to be in the lie. That seems pretty unlikely. Could it be a massive disinformation campaign to keep alien technology to US only or keep the masses calm? I guess anything is possible. But Occam's razor would say it's probably an aerial phenomenon that we cannot explain. With the most logical answer being it's of this Earth.
  22. I think this could be true. Not because DCS players are better but it's because real pilots/aviators would *NEVER* do the things that gamers do. I believe the muscle memory of real flying has to be "forgotten" than it would be game over. Again, real world habits can be a detriment (I believe). But when is saw Gonky and Mover flying in formation so effortlessly, it was very very cool. Or when the F14 aviator stuck the landing 10 times in a row. Very cool
  23. voice attack, hotas mapping, and most importantly, I just peak between the bridge of the nose. Works fine for me. And with PointCTRL (https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3607054&postcount=1) it's getting easier to interact with the clickable cockpit.

I DVR'ed it. The funny thing is that when I turned it on, they were talking about Atlantis being buried in Anartica. And I thought WTH!!!!! Then I realized that I started the recording 5min earlier. LOL. Now it's on the show.
  25. Ordered the ..in the Storm. But I also liked Viper Pilot. I thought he gave a riveting view of what it's like to sit in the cockpit, how they communicated etc.
