  1. Folks, I'll be making two videos (I'm hoping tomorrow). First one is a setup video tips and tricks. The second will be showing the PointCTRL in action. Both from the perspective of "inside" the cockpit (VR) through the mirrored view on the monitor and the external head/hand interaction. If there are any other topics, do let me know. FYI, MilesD, Los, and mariner3302 are helping to streamline as many things as possible before MilesD goes bigtime! I know everyone is itching to get going, but we believe a little time upfront will be worth it.
  2. I'll report back how mine goes. After watching SweViver's vid, I wanted to see if I can get 30% bump as well! :)
  3. But that may change when the BS2 and A10C get it's updated textures from ED.
  4. I loved Apollo 11 Landing. And believe it or not, Minecraft in VR is pretty cool. Positively claustrophobic when you're digging that tunnel! :)
  5. Thanks for that. I'm always curious what people use. I'm a Vectric user (CNC oriented). I may tackling cutting something out of acrylic.
  6. Are you using a traditional HD? It *may* be creating the shaders which can take a while. I'm not sure how long "forever" is for you. And do let Windows manage the page file. Again, if you don't have SSD, you're going to be swapping to HD *and* having it create the shaders.
  7. Couple of things. He meant do you have a passive hub or a hub that comes with its own power supply. You said passive. But you may want to try an active ones. As for the USB card, some get all the power via the PCI bus. You can also by a USB "card" that's nothing but USB ports. If you have an open jump/header for USB on your motherboard, you can buy the card and connect the cable to your motherboard. And finally, you can buy a USB card that gets its power to the PCI interface but also have the capability to connect to extension that I just wrote about. But in that case, it may require a power source from the motherboard via a SATA cable - for power. Finally, you can try disabling power saving for USB. Google: turn off usb power saving windows 10
  8. Welcome to the "can never go back" VR club! :D While ED is getting the FPS optimization code ready, do check this thread out: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3559379&postcount=1
  9. Nice work! What's funny is I'm a tech hoarder. I don't throw anything out. And yesterday, as I was finishing my CNC enclosure and doing a test run (by make a waste board). To kill time, I started to clean out my garage. I and I ended up throwing out some old keyboards. And I said to myself, "but what if I need these keycaps????" And I convinced myself to "let it go...." AND NOW YOU POST THIS!!!! LOL. I knew I should have kept some keycaps. What program do you use for the CAD and CAM?
  10. Miles, Once I put the double-stick tape on the HMS, it's on there SOLID. And I'll put the calibration routine through its paces tonight/tomorrow and report back. One thing I noticed. I initially configured the timeout of the IR to 20 seconds. But in practice, 10 seconds is *more* than enough. Even if you're doing something complicated with the CDU, a simple click brings it to life. Initially, I figured longer was better/more convenient. In practice, 10 sec is more than enough, it seems.
  11. Hmmm, Can't wait to give it a shot!
  12. As soon as I calibrate my FCU's, I'll post a video (in screen and physically) of PointCTRL in action.
  13. This is where DCS really needs to shore up. The problem is that configs are tied to UID used by USB devices (those long series of numbers and letters). So if save your SAVED FOLDERS, you would have to change the UIDs with the new UIDs assigned to your USB devices. Or what Don did. I'm thinking what Don suggested would take about the same amount of time.
  14. True. But then again, I go apoplectic when a program adds a tray icon w/o my permission. :D
  15. Got the FCU and HMS installed. No issues with the installation. The double-stick tape is some SERIOUS stuff. It installed just fine with no issues. As luck would have it, I had to fiddle around with P5K+ for PiTool to recognize the HMD. Realized windows update was happening in the background and rebooted. Came back fine, and did a quick test with the mouse and it worked as advertised. However, my HMD and the FCU was fighting each other. I have to learn how to hold my head still. Will work with MilesD for advice on how best to set it up in DCS. I couldn't test much today because I spent the whole day building my CNC enclosure and two wasteboards. So by the time i got started with the PointCTRL, I ran out of time. I promise to have a detailed review in the next few days. Hansang
  16. No I get that. But what's the point of it? It's not doing anything that's measurable in terms of performance. If it's the "I hate bloatware" stance, then calc, notepad, IE, Edge, Clock, File Explorer, PDF print, snippet, sticky notes and about 100+ Windows specific DLLs would have to removed. I guess I don't see the ROI of trying to remove Bing that isn't doing much if the default is changed to google. And before someone chimes in with "but it sends stuff back to Microsoft in the background..." I read packet traces for a living. Just about EVERY app phones home and transfers stuff. And because it's encrypted, you can't really see whats in it. I could go through the trouble of getting the ephemeral keys to try and decode the TLS 1.2/3 packets, and then try to re-engineer any binary bits, but at some point it seems pointless. If you want almost full control of every aspect of every OS, you'd have to download the sourcecode for Linux flavor of your choosing, remove the stuff you don't want and compile it yourself. Again, seems like there is a diminishing ROI.
  17. Easier just to change the default to google, no?
  18. That was handy. Thanks!
  19. I'm checking the HP site every 5 minutes :D so hopefully i can snag one. I pre-ordered on Amazon as well, but I'm hedging.
  20. I thought google voice had the option of ringing all your lines including the PC you're on. You can link your mobile to google voice w/o changing how your use your cell.
  21. I'm getting carpal tunnel just hitting the refresh button on HP's site. And I have a preorder with Amazon! LOL. It's like waiting for CV1 to ship all over again. That's a good thing... it means the passion is still there and there's a lot more upside left in this field. Said he, owner of DK1, DK2, CV1, Odyssey, Vive, P5K+ (kept CV1, P5k+)
  22. EDIT: I see the extra mount. Thanks Miles. Question though. When you charge the HMD sensor, it lights up telling me that it's charging. But when I plug in the finger units, they don't light up. Is that the way it's supposed to be? Thanks.
  23. Not sure how many P5K+ owners will pony up for a Rift S for comparison.
  24. It's not a steam thing. It saves the bindings into an html file locally.
