  1. Oh. That would make it a non-contender.
  2. Except in power tools. Once you go DeWalt, if feels like cheating every time pick up a Bosch, Ryobi, Black&Decker tools. :D But here's the thing. DeWalt hasn't let me down and I continue to support them. The fact that Oculus dropped the ball in supporting our market segment means I'll *not* be buying from them. Unless of course the HMD that we all want comes out at the end of the year. FB did their TAM studies and decided that casual gamer/users is the priority. So be it. I wish them well and bid them adieu.
  3. You probably can pick from all available ones. Samsung Odyssey+, Pimax5K+ (still new to the scene), I'd skip Rift at this point and go with Rift S. And remember, HP Reverb and Vive has a new version coming out in a matter of months. So if you waited this long, I'd wait two more months and see how HP and the new Vive is received.
  4. The plot thickens. If the FoV of 135(?) is correct, then it's a contender.
  5. Couple of things. 1) When you fire up DCS, there is connection that is made to ED server (for the new licensing) and it almost always takes 30 seconds to finish if memory serves. So there is a built-in bottlneck on start of DCS. Second, I moved the "SAVED GAMES" directly when I was testing by using a symbolic link. So the SAVED GAMES on the SSD was symbolic linked to the NVMe drive. But again, saw very little differences when I tested.
  6. That spring mod below makes a HUGE difference for helo's. The other thing is the Warthog extensions to make the throw longer. Again, makes a huge difference. As for real life, I only flew a Huey simulator (in the Army) once. If I recall, it didn't flop around, but there was no resistance, or very little of it. However, it did stay where it was if you let it go for a sec. The Komodo cyclic work similarly. But it was discussed extensively (with IRL pilots chiming in) over in Belsimtek/Huey threads.
  7. ugh. well at least your company servers are protected with raid1 mirroring. And if you think it's reading faster, who am I to argue.
  8. First thing to rule out is that your brakes/rudders are not incorrectly assigned to other controls. So scroll left and right and make sure it's only assigned to rudder/brake controls It's a pretty common DCS thing.
  9. I was thinking that too. I just chalked it up to "I must be the average" and it doesn't hurt or help much. I mean I do line up the cross hairs as best I can. But then I'm also thinking that my Astigmatism is getting in the way.
  10. Again, basic admin knowledge would mean that you're talking about RAID0 and not RAID1. But, no skin off my back. I just don't want someone following your advice of duplicating the HD.
  11. Makes sense. One thing though, I'm now going to wait for the Pimax5K+ model. So we'd have to know what models are available or not. And could you post the latest renders/pics? If my HMD version is not yet ready, I may just order the Rift one and mod it myself. You know...not having any self control or patience. :D
  12. remember, if you don't run at native resolution, things start to look horrible. So using a lower resolution on a 4K monitor is usually a bad idea.
  13. Well, I suppose in theory, a proper RAID controller with the smarts *could* use both disks to read and use the faster of the two. But with SSDs, it's a moot point. Even with mag HDD, all the stars would have to line up for READ operation to be better. Meaning on one drive, it used the inner tracks and the other, the outer tracks. So w/o some facts, I'll chalk it up to placebo effect. If you've done some testing, do let us know.
  14. Two likely things are: Switch died. Or cable to the switch or the PCB came off. You'd have to open it up to see if it's the latter. And would need a multimeter to check for continuity on the well being of the stick. I know you said you're not in a position to solder, so I'm thinking the the above is out of bounds as well? I hope they send you a new stick.
  15. Could be worse. Think if the nightmare that Asus is facing right now. Hell it could be the reason why Oculus updated the certificate.
  16. AHhhhh you got me good! I needed the laugh. Thanks :D
  17. updated the OP with ingame settings. Left out Pimax settings since I just updated to 112 version (thanks!). Should have some time to record some more videos.
  18. I set my frequency to A. There is a button on the back of the unit that cycles through A, B, or C. You can see the letter from the front. You also need SteamVR (I'm pretty sure) do you have that? And I had to do this: https://forum.pimaxvr.com/t/8k-5k-headset-not-tracked-workaround/17454
  19. Raid 1 would do nothing since it's just a mirror. I think you meant raid0 which stripes against two disks. But for SSD, it doesn't make much sense even if using raid0. The access isn't going to be the bottleneck given the SSD vs NMVe testing. For traditional HD I can see the benefit but would never do it due to doubling the risk of data loss.
  20. No difference between SSD and NVMe. Not human perceivable anyway: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3740017&postcount=17
  21. Have a look here: https://rockitcool.myshopify.com/pages/relidding There some videos on what delid'ing is.
  22. Yes, but you can't run it with VR if that's in your future. You'll need DisplayLink drivers for the USB monitors. Here's what two 8" Lilliput monitors using USB looks like.
  23. Ah...that's should fine then! I hope you kill it!
  24. Thanks, I'll give it a go tonight if I can.
  25. I don't know how many will be available out of the gate. Considering that there are more than 150 folks on the list, *if* there isn't enough stock in the beginning, people should be told that they have X days to pay and order. Otherwise you lose your spot. I know lot of people sign up for these things, but not all pull the trigger when it comes time to pay. For example, I may hold of buying for the Rift because I'v moved on to Pimax. Of course, if there's enough production volume out of the gate, it's a moot point. Just a suggestion, not a demand.
