  1. Glad they got funded but I don't see this being the solution for DCS. I won't be purchasing. I'd much prefer to wait and see what Oculus announce in the coming months. They are working on it and hand tracking is much more likely to be integrated into 3rd party software like DCS when released by Oculus than when produced by a small third party team. I already have that leap motion thing gathering dust.
  2. I take it you are on 1.5? If so I'd recommend switching to 2.0 and the Nevada map for VR as it looks and performs much better than Caucasus.
  3. I think it's against the terms of the EULA to mod the airframe. At least I'm sure I read that when the same was suggested for the Huey. Something I'd really love for sling loads in VR is a doorless huey but I digress.
  4. I've given the Gazelle about 4hrs in the last couple of days in 2.0. It is undoubtedly an excellent little helicopter and I am really warming too it. I can force VRS if I try too and it will drop like a stone and cannot be recovered with collective alone. If you build up any lateral or forward momentum it does self recover though. Given the small rotor disc it inevitably exits VRS on its own. I would be very interested to read mickt014s opinion on a few little issues that have been mentioned in the various flight model threads and which don't make sense to me. - no need to compensate with collective when performing pedal turns in the hover. (I'd expect turning against the torque would require some slight collective to maintain altitude and less collective pitch required when turning with torque). - no overspeed of the rotor when performing rapid fast stops from high speed. Shouldn't the rotor spool up rapidly if not managed due to the increased airflow presented to the rotor disc and the low collective pitch setting? - no bogging of the rotor or any change in yaw when making large collective changes in forward flight. The thing I've been practicing most and trying to get my head around the last few days is precise circuits. I'm finding it very unusual how the Gazelle turns. Keeping the VSI at zero while maintaining an exact desired airspeed requires really very precise pedal input and cyclic control. It's so much harder than anything else I've flown in a simulator and just feels very... different. It's like the aircraft is fighting you and wants to either self level or slide (EDIT: both with SAS on or off). Sven has assured me that this is how the military Gazelle turns so I've decided to just learn to master it. There is no tendency for the tail to weather vein at all. It takes a while transitioning back to any of the Dreamfoil Creations helicopters in x-plane or other helicopter modules in dcs (I know, I know.. all helicopters are different, but this is REALLY different lol). I'm glad I'm warming to the module again. A family friend was an Irish Air Corps instructor on Gazelles when they used them for pilot training many moons ago. It was also the first helicopter I was ever in. Sorry to go off topic from VRS but it's hard not to ask a few questions when someone with 4,000 hrs on type chimes in.
  5. This looks interesting. https://www.vrgluv.com Not sure how ergonomic it will be when you consider using them with a Hotas but it's great to see more development especially that it is cross platform supporting both rift and vive tracking.
  6. I agree with the OP. I really hope the flight model of the Gazelle is reworked before the bo105 is released. The basic principles of rotary flight dynamics largely carry through from helicopter to helicopter. The Gazelle in its current state does not fly like a helicopter. I really hope the FD coding lessons are learned now and not after the release of a second module. Otherwise the module is fantastic but what needs to be it's shining light is currently it's biggest flaw. I wish Polychop the best with their restructuring and hope they can return to coding soon.
  7. This will get me back on 1.5. I've been flying exclusively in 2.0 due to the better rift support. Loving your work Eight Ball. This is exactly what DCS needs for me. Non combat orientated helicopter flying is what I want. I'm in a minority of a minority of DCS users LOL. Thumbs up to Upuaut also for his great mods!
  8. deleted. Issue resolved.
  9. Are there any plans to update this mod for 2.0? I currently get a crash to desktop if I try to run it on NTTR.
  10. After days of checking I just got all excited to finally see a 1080ti tab on overclockers U.K. Clicked it and discovered the only product is a mug! Is that a sign? Lol https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/graphics-cards/nvidia/geforce-gtx-1080-ti
  11. Sorry to ask guys but I'm pulling my hair out. I know this has been asked a few times but I can't find a fix. Radio commands are causing my view to change to an external view. F11 and F12 are unbound as are num0, 1, 2 and 3. I have a non us keyboard and have changed the / command to #~ key in voice attack. I have confirmed it works on the same button for push and release. When I say 'hover check' in the uh-1 I hear the beeps release PTT and the command executes. I see the radio menu appearing and quickly moving through options but then my view switches to the external view! I had this working previously but re-installed after a hardware upgrade. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Edit: I'm on 2.0 EDIT Again: I realized I did not have the static radio mod installed in 2.0. Installed with Jsgme and I get a crash to desktop when I click 'fly' after mission load! I tried the default static radio mod and also with the sthompson .lua version and have the same result. No crash when the mod is disabled. Is vaicom compatible with 2.0? Or more correctly is the static radio mod compatible and if not can vaicom be used without it?
  12. Found the issue in VR. It's clouds. I set the weather to summer, clear skies no wind instead of default weather and frame rates shot up again.
  13. It just depends what point in a cycle you upgrade. I've gone from a 780ti to 980ti and will now get a 1080ti. When Volta ti releases I will get that. Just upgrading at the last step of a cycle instead of the first. It makes little difference which point you upgrade in the long run.
  14. Eight Ball, Really enjoying your missions but recently the framerate has tanked in VR when using the forestry mission or civil operations template in 2.0! I have gone from a steady 45fps (ASW) in vanilla 2.0 to 10 fps when I load the forestry mission. I have checked my GPU and CPU load and notice in vanilla 2.0 my GPU is loaded to >80% but when I use one of your missions the load on the GPU drops to ~50%. Very strange! Any idea which asset could be causing this? I removed all but the hospitals from the template mission and I am back up to 45fps again but the forestry mission is now unusable in VR.
  15. The only reason to buy a founders edition card is if you plan to water cool. I'm actually considering it!
  16. Incorrect. There is one I know of but the price is prohibitive. I can't recall off hand how much but I remember I couldn't afford it lol http://www.ryanaerospace.com.au/Products.html
  17. Regarding the centering of the cyclic debate there is one potential issue that is being overlooked. Calibration. Windows software along with many 3rd party flight sims (x-plane for example) require you to centre the controls during the calibration process. Getting this step wrong can throw off the calibration. For this reason alone I think adding an ability to electronically/mechanically centre the stick would be beneficial especially on a force trim setup where the ability to move the stick already exists. I know from my own cyclic that does not have any centering forces that calibration can be a headache as a result of this. You can eyeball it during this step but it's not ideal.
  18. Subscribing here. I'm happy with my Komodo simulations cyclic but my C-Tek pedals and collective are a different story. The collective has developed noise even though it uses a Hall effect pot! No idea why. Anyway I'm looking forward to more reviews from Trip and others before I make a decision. Good luck with this venture Yogi
  19. I'll be selling my 980ti and getting a 1080ti as soon as they are available. I've been saving for it for a long while. I'd prefer to get a hybrid but not if they're going to be months away. How soon after release day should we start to see offerings from evga?
  20. I really wish the developers could do something about this issue. It seems it has been done before as tacview is able to model the aircraft orientation in 3D space. It just needs to be made available to us motion rig builders via the export.lua.
  21. Just disable the mouse in the vr tab and bind left and right click in the controls menu (under ui settings). You can then look at what you want to click as the cursor is tied to headtracking. I just wish the cursor vanished when not over an active click spot though as it is very distracting when not in use.
  22. In the bottom right drop down box you can set a weather theme. Select clear sky's and load it by pressing the button next to the drop down box. Save the mission and try it. Like I said above it doesn't work though. There is more going on other than just clouds which is causing issues with frame rate in 1.5.
  23. I just went from a 4770k to a 7700k due to its better overclocking capability. I'm waiting for the 1080ti before upgrading my 980ti. I have been able to turn up some settings with the new CPU. I can now run shadows on medium for example.
  24. Yes I tried clear sky's by adjusting the mission in the editor. It made no difference.
  25. 20fps on the instant action Harbor Tour mission for the Huey on minimum settings. In fact changing settings makes no difference. Something has broken for vr support in the latest build.
