  1. DCS 2.5 Beta: While deferred shading looks great on a monitor I have difficulty with it in VR. I have tried the full range of settings but can’t find a good balance. The highlights are either too bright or the lows are too dark. It doesn’t look natural. If you want natural looking light outside the aircraft then the cockpit becomes almost black. Increasing gamma for a readable cockpit causes the world outside the aircraft to appear too bright and blown out. Would it be possible to have the end points adjustable in addition to the mean gamma?
  2. When moving your head from side to side the clouds also rotate. Observed with max settings.
  3. please allow the ability to increase the level of detail radius for ground object shadows. Currently, even on max settings the tree and building shadows morph and flicker badly as they come into closer view.
  4. I was about to post this bug and see that it has been reported already. This is a big issue in 2.5. Running deferred shading means having to have a very bright exterior to see the gauges easily. The visor would really help in VR.
  5. That’s my thinking as well. The increased FOV means doing a comparison to rift at 1.7pd doesn’t work as it doesn’t account for the additional 3D objects.
  6. I set up a KC135 on TCN 126X in the mission editor (in formation with a KC130). The only way it would show up was when I set TCN 126Y. Can anyone else confirm? Maybe I’m doing it wrong.
  7. The mirrors in VR aren’t working very well. The view in the mirror changes with rotational head movement when it shouldn’t. This looks really weird in VR. It was probably done this way for trackir users but in VR it’s actually nauseating. The view should be static unless there is a positional change in the viewpoint.
  8. This happened me on the first load after installing oculus beta. Worked fine every load since.
  9. Works fine here. So does the new oculus dash.
  10. Pro flight trainer are popular https://pro-flight-trainer-com.myshopify.com I’ve have nothing but good things to say about Rich and Komodosim though. I’m still in touch with him and hopefully his new store will open soon. I want to replace my C-Tek gear.
  11. “Careful commander!” It’s the co-pilot warning of VRS. It’s a left over from an early implementation of Simshaker. F410 says it will be removed.
  12. Thanks I tried your suggestion. Now the windscreen remains black but flashed transparent every second or so and back to black. Like I said above it works fine in Normandy. This is only in Nevada. I just tested in monitor mode and the issue is there also but it flickers faster than in VR. I guess it is an issue with the ongoing texture work for deferred shading on the Gazelle. All other aircraft appear to be ok. I'll stick with Normandy for now. By the way Polychop- VRS is now working as expected (sorry for the off topic). This module is getting better and better
  13. After this weeks update I have a completely black windshield in VR on the Nevada map when deferred shading is enabled. The weird thing is that it is fine on the Normandy map with the same settings.
  14. Yes. That was announced after I made that post. I think waiting is the safest option though.
  15. One word.... Amazing! The flight model changes today have given this helicopter a completely different feel. It turns so much better! No idea what you have done but it's working. I've been critical of the flight model in the past but want to thank you for sticking with it and fixing many of the issues I've mentioned. This is a major improvement.
  16. At 90hz?? I see no mention of ASW or an equivalent for MR headsets. It can also do 60hz though. I've been there with dk1. Not going back.
  17. That's exactly what I took from the link I posted on the previous page. There is no 'may not work' - they will not work! They will only work on windows 10 via the UWP APIs. Dcs is not on the windows App Store front, therefore, it won't work with Microsoft MR headsets at all without compiling against the new APIs and recoding, integration with the windows App Store. "The Windows platform APIs for mixed reality only work in the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app model. So if your app is not already built for UWP, porting to UWP will be part of the porting experience." "The Windows Mixed Reality platform is still under active development, and to be most effective, we recommend being on the "Windows Insider Fast" flight. In order to have access to windows flights, you will need to join the Windows Insider Program. Install the Windows 10 Creators Update Join the Windows Insider Program. Enable Developer Mode Switch to the Windows Insider Fast flights through Settings --> Update & Security Section" EDIT: it seems steamVR support for windows MR headsets is in the pipeline. We will have to wait and see.
  18. My advice (for what it's worth) do not buy one of these microsoft backed headsets for DCS without first hearing from ED. Take a look at this: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/porting_guides It looks very much like another store front requirement with no support for steam apps, Oculus apps or even standalone apps unless they are from the windows store.
  19. That's a strange one. Your dcs window may have lost focus due to the mouse being clicked outside the window and onto the desktop. Next time it happens double check by ensuring you click inside the dcs window then try bringing up the menu.
  20. Thanks for the update Pat. I'm glad to see some of the hard work is trickling through in the recent update and look forward to see how things progress with the flight model. Keep up the good work.
  21. Haven't tried it yet but i imagine it will be very difficult to use if locked to the console. They need to incorporate a 'pop out' feature so it can be resized and moved in the virtual space in a similar way to what flyinside does with it in x-plane.
  22. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=164892 Adjust the eye point with the instructions in this thread. The A10C is the worst offender. It is way off by default but all aircraft can benefit from a little adjustment.
