  1. I actually thought Top Gun had a decent story, if not an excellent one. People who think it had no plot are probably shallow audiences anyway. Ultimately, it is a story about growing up and learning you can be hot stuff and still a team player. Then for God's sake, don't give them any ideas!!! Though I hope to hear this song set to the soccer (as opposed to volleyball) scene in the next film:
  2. And do you guys have parties upon reaching Initial Operational Capability? :drink:
  3. You guys transition aircraft also??? You guys take this stuff serial! :P
  4. What surprised me is that Faltermeyer was only 33 when he composed the Top Gun soundtrack.
  5. No thanks. In other news, however, Harold Faltermeyer will return as the new film's composer!!!
  6. "Knights, we are ready and free. Knight 1, Fox Three!!!"
  7. ... the need for speed! OWW!!!
  8. Start smiling, boys. I know that's not a Tomcat in the background, but it's going to be 2019 when it hits theaters and I think they chose the right aircraft for the job! https://twitter.com/TomCruise/status/1002062865971499008/photo/1?tfw_site=cinemablend&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cinemablend.com%2Fnews%2F2428400%2Ftom-cruise-shares-a-top-gun-2-set-photo-that-will-get-fans-crazy-pumped
  9. Anyone want to form a squadron at NAS Miramar opposite these Oceana losers? :P
  10. I want the Delta also, but one thing at a time. You keep this up then we're not going to have to play any mods because there's too many of them!
  11. This one's so you can get hyped for the F-14A: And this one's so you can get hyped for the F-14B: Enjoy!
  12. I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!!! :megalol:
  13. Spoken like a true critic who never had to put it on the line.
  14.:clap::clap::clap: Couldn't have said it any better myself!
  15. What are you talking about? ED has always emphasized non-U.S. platforms. It was only when they released the game-changing LOMAC that they got more U.S. platforms in the mix. Currently, the flyable U.S. DCS inventory consists of: - A-10A/C Thunderbolt II - AV-8B Harrier II - F-5E Tiger II - F-15C Eagle - P-51D Mustang - UH-1H Iroquois Six out of how many total aircraft? And keep in mind the F-14 and F/A-18 haven't been released yet. If anything, DCS ought to release at least one U.S. aircraft for every two non-U.S. planes.
  16. Like others, I'd like to see the Panavia Tornado GR.4 as well. But I'd also like to see the Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle and F/A-18F Super Hornet, both of which can utilize much of the technologies developed for the F-14A/B.
  17. Here's the ordnance the F-14A/B carried operationally during the '80s and '90s: - ADM-141A TALD - ADM-141C ITALD - AIM-7F/M/P Sparrow III AAM - AIM-9H/L/M Sidewinder AAM - AIM-54A/C Phoenix AAM - GBU-10E/B & J/B Paveway II LGB - GBU-12D/B Paveway II LGB - GBU-16B/B Paveway II LGB - GBU-24B/B, D/B, & E/B Paveway III LGB/GPS - GBU-31(V)2/B & 4/B JDAM - Mk. 20 Rockeye II CBM - Mk. 82/83/84 LDGP - Mk. 82 Snakeeye Anything else is a no-go, whether it was tested or not.
  18. LOL Knowing the DCS fan base, I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually asked that!
  19. One of the themes of the movie is that Maverick may be a liability in peacetime, but during war is when he shows his value. He just needed to grow up. It's a lesson we've seen time and again, you don't know who's really who until the shooting starts.
  20. And he did that without an AEW guidnance! HAPPY TOP GUN DAY, EVERYONE!!!
  21. You're going to be waiting a very long time if that's the case. I don't want to hear about how "It's taking too long."
  22. The F-14 has dropped more air-to-ground ordnance than it's fired air-to-air ordnance in anger. Like it or not, in the real world, which is where it really matters, the F-14 turned out to be more than just a fighter.
  23. Threads like these prove that the DCS fan base are among the most unreasonable of any gaming community. You act like ED is EA; they have thousands of people working on just a few projects. From my understanding, ED's development staffs are comprised of just handfuls. These guys are basically working bell to bell to complete what are obviously highly sophisticated simulations of highly sophisticated aircraft. There's only so much progress they can make in a certain amount of time. ED, keep doing what you're doing. You've never let the reasonable fans like me down.
  24. Yeah, a lot of people don't seem to realize how different the Super Tomcat was from the legacy Tomcat. It was like the Strike Eagle vs. the Eagle.
  25. What sort of audio files? The only communications relevant to the F-14 pilot is through hand signals. Anything audible is, therefore, unnecessary.
