Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone? If the T-shirt is part of the package I paid for, please let me (and others who've yet to receive theirs) when too late is too late.
-
IronMike, At what point can we say too late is too late? Four months is an awful long time to wait for one T-shirt. I'm still waiting for mine.
-
I got the E-mail notification the same day as everyone else (May 7), but there's no tracking information and it still hasn't arrived yet.
-
Can't wait to see some non-USA vs. USSR/Russia scenarios.
-
And if you're here, are you accepting suggestions or looking for people to write backstories for it? And any status on the campaigns/single missions currently in development?
-
There's far too much information out there for me to sort through, so I apologize for asking something everyone else has asked already - when will the two campaigns be released?
-
Another example - in Red Storm Entertainment's Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Covert Ops Essentials, there's a video of a flashbang grenade detonating. A flashbang, as the name implies, creates a blinding flash of light and ear-splitting noise when it goes off. Yet, in the video, the neither a blinding flash is seen nor a devastating noise heard. Why's that? Or closer to home - the way your voice sounds on a recording sounds different from the way you hear it when you speak. Often times, locking threads or banning users is a power trip for moderators. I'll probably get in trouble for saying that, but it's true. And I agree - make an argument and back it up. I think everybody, particularly media folks and politicians, need to learn that.
-
I agree with a previous poster - if it's the real sound, then it's the real sound. If it's what the real-world pilots had to put up with, then it's what the real-world pilots had to put up with. That said, it does bring up an interesting point - is what's heard on a recording the same as what someone would've heard in real life? I say this because, for example, the sound of a firearm discharge on recorded audio is not the same as the way a human ear would receive that noise. It's the same sound, but heard differently. In my view, what the "actual" sound is less important than how it would've been heard in the Tomcat pilot's headset. So all these video and audio recordings of the AIM-9 "growl" and tone aren't all that useful if it doesn't capture exactly what the human ear would've heard in real life. Does that make sense? In another example, somebody re-created the AIM-9 tone on his computer. It sounds quite different from the way it's been depicted in the sims, and I wonder if this is how it's actually supposed to sound. If it is, then it's yet another example of the way something is heard in real time, in the moment, by the human ear, is not the same as the way it's heard on a recording.

There's also Navy Fighter Weapons School at NAS Miramar. Oops, sorry, DCS: F-14B is so real, I forgot it's not 1995. :P

When I saw the steam rising from the catapult after an E-2 took off, that's when I knew this shiznit was for real!!! Thanks for Heatblur for making this module! I know it's not a finished product, but the EA is so good, I can't imagine how awesome the final product will be!

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
CheckGear replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
All I have to say is, it's been an absolute joy sharing this journey with all of you. For years, we've been anticipating the arrival of this module; the fact that we're less than 24 hours away from release is completely surreal to me. I, unfortunately, won't be able to indulge (at least not off the bat) because I'm on the road for work. But hearing initial reaction from all of you is sure to raise my excitement even further. There are few feelings better in this world than to know that you've reached the end of the beginning of an adventure which has no end. That said, anyone looking for a fight? ANYTIME, BABY!!! LET'S KICK THE TIRES AND LIGHT THE FIRES, 'CUZ I FEEL THE NEED... THE NEED FOR SPEED!!! OWW!!! -
This is how I'm preparing to F-14B Early Access...

Thanks to that silly remark, it just might be. Why you'd even mention that is beyond me. :dunno: -

Thanks! I'll check it out while I'm here! -
I'm currently in San Diego for work. I'm driving along MCAS Miramar, listening to Sirius XM Channel '80s on 8. Then I'm going out to a target-rich environment in downtown San Diego for some brews. What about the rest of you?
-
I'm going to anger lots of people here, but generally speaking, if the variant didn't operate with a certain livery, then it shouldn't have it available. If anything, it makes the job of Heatblur easier. I think.

Syrian and Afghan theatre of operations confirmed!
CheckGear replied to WHOGX5's topic in Bugs and Problems
I think it was a long time coming for DCS to re-create the world's most ancient of battlefields. I look forward to flying Inherent Resolve sorties via the AV-8B and F/A-18C. -
You're not the only one. I still remember when subsims were still a commercially-viable sub-genre. Dangerous Waters was a good one, but it desperately needs an update. The capabilities possessed by DCS can very easily create the naval warfare simulator to end all naval warfare simulations.
-
This is beginning to look more and more like a U.S. Navy recruiting game. America's Navy, perhaps? Just kidding. This looks incredible. I can't wait to see the end result. All of my wildest dreams are coming true!

I was three months away from being born.

They already said there's going to be a live flight deck crew. I also wonder if it's possible to interact directly with crewmembers (slap them in the head for missing something during pre-flight prep). I agree, steering the ship is overkill.
-
What was the incident that caused him to lose an F-14? And did his family name have something to do with him continuing to rise all the way up the ranks like he did?
-
Dangerous Waters is, to this day, the only P-3C Orion and SH-60B Seahawk simulator ever built and that's why I loved it so much. I missed out on being a Naval Aircrewman, so the game gives me an idea of what it must've been like to fly in the back of a P-3 and hunt submarines and attack surface targets. It was truly a one-of-a-kind simulation I can never really get working on my Windows 7 PC.

Great idea. In fact, I think it's time to get the greatest Naval Aviator-Naval Flight Officer pairing in history back together for one more (virtual) ride. I hereby nominate Admiral James "Sandy" Winnefeld as pilot and none other than Commander Dave "Bio" Baranek as RIO!!!
