  1. Amen! Just saw the patch, and I, for one, appreciate the effort and thoroughly enjoy DCS as the greatest of all flight sims even with these minor issues which I'm sure will be worked out with time. Patience, humility, appreciation, respect! Keep on truckin'
  2. Yep. Was kind of hoping to see a reference to this in the 1.2.5 changelog, but just in case, has anybody seen if, by chance, the update affected this at all?
  3. So if I keep up the FPS during the replay, I increase the chances of having an accurate replay? I know sometimes the replay gets messed up and shows me crashing when I didn't or some other similar errors, but I just figured the replay was the way it was, right or wrong, so I cranked up the speed quite a bit.
  4. Ok, update. Was able to make the MP logbook version released for 1.2.4 work when I flew the F-15. When I last tested I was using the A-10, so ... I don't know. Just wish I had figured that out before I got shot down, ha ha.
  5. Ya, I had the 1.2.4 mod installed and it didn't work in 1.2.5, for me at least. Worth mentioning, the 1.2.3 version didn't work in 1.2.4 and a 1.2.4 version was subsequently released so there's hope. Might just take a little while. I pretty much only fly MP too.
  6. Nice work! Love the patches. That must have taken forever to compile. Now if we could just get a standard multiplayer logbok to catch on. It would fulfill whatever attraction people who play FPS games like CoD and BF3 have to keeping some sort of score. Think it helps determine rank and value. Would be fun in DCS World.

    Greetings

What they said, welcome. I've only been at it a few months myself but I LOVE it. Spend some time to learn the aircraft correctly. Go through the training flights, read the manuals and spend time on these forums. Everybody here is really helpful. Best flight sim to date. See ya out there, I hope. ~Josh
  8. So in general, has anyone been able to actually make correction for wind, however intense, and place a bomb on target since 1.2.4? I just ran another run of tests and was able to get all my bombs in a reasonably tight grouping but nowhere near the target. I dropped 82's in IP/RP from high/low alt. I dropped some AIR's from around 500 feet and they all missed in the same direction as well. I made approaches from all directions and like I said, I was able to put the impact points fairly close to each other, just not on on my SPI. These runs were made with the proper conversions and information loaded into LASTE. Am I missing something or does this whole wind thing still just not work? Have to imagine that would suck to have a sim like this and be unable to drop any dumb bombs if the map has any wind.
  9. Good question. I don't know, but I'd like to ... Bump
  10. Good question. I'm trying to learn tactics and some servers aren't allowing Tacview so I have to use this method as well. Would love to see an alternative.
  11. Excellent, Kuky. Thanks for the help. I figured the answer was simple and feel kind of stupid for starting a thread for such simple question, but it seemed important. Good info to know. ~J
  12. Found a few good threads that offer some good info (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=103625&highlight=preload+radius+visibility) but at best, dance around the questions I'm try to get answered. I am fine-tuning my settings for better FPS, trying to find that threshold of the lowest settigns I can tolerate without compromising gameplay. For instance, I am OK with how the Visib Range looks at medium. I don't need to see factory smoke 100nm but I HAVE to be able to see other aircraft loaded at the maximum range. I am getting hammered in dogfights and the thought of unknowingly lessening the range at which an enemy aircraft loads makes me believe this thread is worth posting. So, when adjusting the visib range, what, exactly, is being loaded at a different distance? Same question for preload radius. If I adjust those sliders, do I risk not loading enemy aircraft at longer ranges? Follow-up: Does the TGP load ranges differently? For example, if my settings are adjusted to load only inside 50nm but my TGP is focued well beyond that, will relevant objects appear on the TGP or would I have to slew the TGP to within 50nm to pick them up? Thanks for the help, ~J
  13. Read this post by Dragon. I ran into the same problem trying to rearm/refuel/comm at FARPs. These are the objects you need. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=71924 For what it's worth, if you ever build a mission in the ME and want to use the Huey at a FARP, consider giving it a frequency that can be dialed close to a round number, like 127.125 or 128.200, instead of what I see all the time as 127.500 or 128.500 - just takes forever to dial the VHF radio in the UH-1H and gets annoying. ~J
  14. Yep, the bullseye can be set for both coalitions in mission editor too so it can change from mission to mission. I usually pin it in a logical location, either on the target in a missin with just one, or in or near the middle of the targets for a mission with many options to keep the distances down and make it easier to estimate locations visually in a fast-paced situation. In this case, I make the bullseye something easy to find visually, like a bridge, river mouth or mountain peak. To find the point called out from Bulls, you need to enter it in the CDU through the offset page as a six digit number (bearing then distance I believe). ~J
  15. You can also program a button on the joystick to do that. That's what I do, usually one I can click with my thunb when I want to recenter the view after using the hat to look around. I am finding, however, that TrackIR is pretty much required for reasonable success in a dogfight if you're thinking FC3 or any of the new fighters coming out in the future. ~J
  16. I had a similar question and got a more detailed answer here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=109068 If the clients also have the same skins installed the same way, I think it should work. It's just like flight simulator if you ever did any work with that. ~J
  17. Far as I can tell, this is still a problem. My UH-1 moves in the direction the ship is moving no matter what I do. Anyone know if a fix for this is in the works?
  18. Excellent. Thanks fellas. I had a feeling your answers was the case. Good to know for sure. Think I'll just stick to the wonderful "stock" aircraft/skins. ~J
  19. Thanks for your reply. I was thinking that was how it worked but couldn't find the answer online and had no way to confirm it otherwise. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something I could have had and paid for. ~Josh
  20. LOVE DCS and DCS World and ED and this whole thing. Been a long-time FSX guy and this makes that look like Atari. So ... since I am clearly going to be diving into this head-first, I am wondering about a few core characteristics: 1. FSX has tons of third-party developers but 100% of the skins and aircraft are only good in multiplayer if everybody in the game has the exact same files. Meaning, for my F-16 to look like an F-16 and with the correct skin, it has to be on the other guys' computers in that same way or it will not appear correctly. I am wondering if DCS World is the same way. If I download a skin for the A-10 then load that in a multiplayer game, how will my jet look to the other players? If I download a third-party aircraft, will it render for other players or not? What will happen? 2. I have purchased as much as possible, partly because the ED quality is unmatched, imho, and because I want to do everything I can to make this profitable and help ensure a strong future so it doesn't go kuput like Microsoft's Flight Simulator series. Among the modules I bought was FC3. Is the F-15C in FC3 the same model as the one drawn for AI in DCS World? Meaning, if I download a skin for the "DCS World F-15C," OR the "FC3 F-15C," will it be installed in a way that will be usable for both the AI version and the FC3 flyable one? 2B. Along those lines, if I were to download and install and really like and want to keep a mod that adjusted the weather (Sun/HDR) and/or part of a jet (afterburner, sound), how would that be reflected to the rest of the players? 3. I purchased the A-10, the Huey, CA etc but I read all over the forums that all I needed was the serial key to plug into DCS World to make it work. Well I did that and sure enough, everything is working wonderfully, but I've read through the update changes lists for a few of the aircraft and there are some pretty good changes on there I want to make sure I have. Meaning, since I didn't download the stand-alone games from the DCS download page becaues I didn't have to, do I not have some of those goodies? Is there any reason to download and install those files in addition to inputting the serieal key into DCS World? Exception, of course, was FC3 which required me to download the software and get LOMAC to install it, but it works fine now and LOMAC is gone. FYI, I only plan to play through DCS World, never through just one stand-alone or another. Ok, all done for now. If anyone who has read this far and has any answer to any question and the further patience to write it below, PLEASE do so. Thanks a whole bunch in advance and I hope to see y'all in the virtual skies, :D ~Josh
  21. Ok, fixed it. I changed the values to zero, which apparently is the "line" the error reports. I had to remove it entirely to make it work and I had to just delete the units and remake them to make that happen, but you're right. Thanks! ~Josh
  22. Got it.
  23. I just put it in my Dropbox public folder. Here it is: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37925345/Chopper%20Down.miz Let me know if you can't get to it. Thanks again for your help, ~Josh
  24. I too, have a feeling it is trigger-related since I'm essentially using this mission as a testing ground to figure out what the ME guid doesn't explain. Let me try and upload it somewhere and post a link to it here.
  25. Ok, I agree. I would post the script but I'm fairly new to DCS so I'm not exactly sure which file to post, nor how to attach/include it. I assume you mean I should unpack a copy of the .miz file and open a certain file in notepad and scan those lines for errors but I'm not sure which file the error is referring to.
