Hey Mav, do you know if these HAVE to be static versions, because I know there are some drivable Humvees? Thanks.

What supplies does an airfield need to rearm/refuel aircraft
rassy7 replied to Bahger's topic in Mission Editor
I wonder how exactly this is accomplished. I went through the supplier list in the ME and like the idea, I just can't figure out hoe to execute it. -
performance with dynamic weather overcast and rain

Same here. Any weather bogs me down, no matter how it's generated. -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

... and when your face turns blue, I'll happily pick up where you left off, ;) -
WoW. Behind the breakers. They really did look for an off-the-map location for that didn't they? Thanks.
-
Ok, I hate to ask, but I feel I've done due diligence and looked at every knob, switch and dial in the Huey and I simply can not find this switch. Where and how do I turn it on?
-
All refueling or just certain aircraft or situational, such as multiplayer or single player? I was going to practixe that some today but perhaps not. Also, totally agree refueling is good practice for learning formation. Try to stay with them in the turns from both wings, learning to adjust to speed slightly for either the larger or smaller turn radius. Fly paint if you can and Track IR is a lifesaver, in case you aren't there yet, :)
-
Can you post a track?
-
Yeah, most of the time on that server if you just find a "single" I guess, and join up you can fly formation. He'll either start flying like a flight lead ignore you totally or break off, but my experience is usually most people will dabble with formation stuff for a while. Good server for a change of pace and great for busy airdrome/SA practice.

This sounds interesting, :)

Make sure they actually have a payload. There are also a couple different ways to tell an aircraft to attack (a point in the ground, an enemy unit) and somewhere in there you can specify which weapon the bomber should use. That can affect how the bomber attacks. Sometimes I know if you tell a jet to attack and it doesn't on its initial run, it might just be setting up for the attack run and will eventually release the weapon. Weather also should have an affect, though I don't know how completely this is modeled for ai, but for instance, a jet should not be able to drop an LGB such as a GBU 10 or 12 through a thick cloud cover.

IR-Pointing without contacting (A)FAC
rassy7 replied to TurboHog's topic in User Created Missions General
Please make this mod standard. -
This is reported to work, FYI.
-
Excellent, thanks! I'll go try it out. If it works like you say, I reeeaally hope this mod becomes standard in an upcoming patch or update. So simple but what a difference it can make.
-
Ya, I knew BS didn't have it out of the box either and I'm not sure about the Mi-8. And no, it's not specific to IR Pointer but that was just why I wanted the FAC comm ability. Maybe someday. We can hope. There is no reason all the helos shouldn't have it IMO. I mean an FAC isn't exempt from helping orchestrate a rescue mission if one should materialize in his vacinity and that has UH-1H written all over it.
-
Sure. Here's my issue. I was attempting to fly a night mission in the Huey. I wanted to have a friendly ground unit designate an enemy with the IR Pointer so I could see it with my NGV's. But that's not possible because even though I can set a friendly ground unit within LOS of an enemy group and assign it the FAC or FAC Engage Group task, I have now way of actually making the FAC mark the target (turn on the IR Pointer). The way to do that is to contact the FAC via the radio menu on the assigned freq and go through the JTAC commands but the Huey wont communicate with JTAC despite being capable of tuning to all the same freqs. The A-10C can talk to the JTAC just fine but in the same mission, tuned to the same freq, the Huey can't raise him.
-
Ya, that's how it's listed as a task for infantry in the ME but the comm would probably be the same as the JTAC for the fixed wing aircraft. They can call it whatever they as far as I'm concerned, as long as I have a way to make ground units mark targets. Really interested in the IR Pointer designator at night with NVG's.

Just the mention of trees puts me on the EDGE of my seat, ;) Ahh how bright the future is.
-
So, going to have to toss this one in there now: FAC functionality. How did this even reach Beta without this?

Ha ha ... I JUST saw this thread. Only been playing DCS since May 2013. I was there too, :) Nice shots! Here are mine: http://www.vaporfaith.com/galleries/hs.html ~Josh

IR-Pointing without contacting (A)FAC
rassy7 replied to TurboHog's topic in User Created Missions General
+1 Would like to see IR Pointer at night with NVG's from Huey but there is absolutely no way to turn it on short of jumping in an A-10, contacting FAC, then switching back to Huey. Dumb! -
That mod work Turbo? I couldn't believe it when I found out the Huey couldn't contact a JTAC. What could be the possible reasoning behind that?
-
That's great! Credit to St3v3 and thanks so much for finding it for me. Can't wait to plug it in and get going with it. I have a few ideas in mind for using it. Thanks again, ENO, for all your help and thanks largely to you, I finally got my mission finished. Guess it's time to start fiddlin' around with a new one, ;)
-
ENO, that's an excellent idea, thanks. I suppose since this particular transfer would only take place once, since once the evac units are loaded they're gone until either moved or forever if the chopper is shot down, I could include a Unit Out Of Zone condition along with the flag for landing in the first zone (the evac zone). Perhaps I could also use a radio trigger of my own for the pilot to select right after unloading the evac units under the guise of, oh I don't know, calling in the unit has been returned safely and make that option dependant upon conditions relating to the second flag, made available when the helo lands in the safe zone. For a one-time transfer for us more-or-less limited to ME coders, ;) that might work all right. I have to go try it out.
