There is tracking system, but only for 3DOF (rotations, not positions), Oculus working on implementation of their 6DOF tracker in consumer version. Also currently DCS doesn't support Oculus Rift devkit, and that's includes tracking, one can use some hacks to enable it though, but I didn't went into that. Yes targeting pod and Shkwal on Ka-50 works fine, but Eyeballs Mark1 are not allowing you to spot any targets visually in such rez. I was using TrackIR to lean forward, I can imagine tracking could be done better for HMD, but it was good enough for me experimenting with DCS+Rift.

In the Oculus Rift you look through the optics which blow up 7" screen to the size optically bigger than IMAX screen, so 4k will not be enough for device such as Oculus Rift, not to mention 1k.

Ok, so I set everything up, probably I can't get better with current setup. I used stereo.lua setup in DCS to render stereo pair, and I used free tool - Oculus Overlay to make screen wrap (NThusim didn't work for me in DCS) Eye separation in stereo.lua 0.6 (-0.3 and +0.3 for left and right views), 0-for convergence (you shouldn't use any convergence when render for Rift, otherwise images will not match). And tweaked Oculus Overlay to get image of a right size and so on. I used TrackIR5 for tracking, and HOTAS + rudder pedals for flying. First I was very happy that everything works now and I don't have nausea from this setup, and everything is in proper stereo. BUT damn the whole experience is crippled because of super low resolution of current DevKit and bad screen in general - color reproduction, pixel smearing... I mean it is awful, you can't read any gauge in Ka-50 or Su-27, you need to zoom in so the gauge occupy huge portion of your vision to read it. And I'm not telling about looking for ground targets. I did some ground attack mission on Ka-50, and even killed some targets, but as it is now Rift DevKit 1 is useless for DCS. Sure one can experiment but certainly not playable. So now I'm waiting for hi-rez Rift to repeat my investigation on VR DCS. Shouldn't be long now? ;)

У меня ДКС бета 1.2.7 утянул все с винта, со штатной установки 1.2.6, скачал только какую-то небольшую разницу. Если нужно - юзаю английскую версию, 1.2.6 установлена в каталог по умолчанию.

Before consumer version Oculus expect do deliver DevKit2 which should have better screens than current one.

Great news about funding, but what surprises me that on one hand they talk about PS4 and XB1 being limited hardware for Oculus Rift, and on the other hand they want to support Android devices.

Эти ролики делал любитель, кстати не имея шлема на руках, я проверял эти ролики в Рифте - стерео там нет и искажение сделано не правильно, так что картинка "не сходится" и смотреть на нее нельзя. Это просто эксперимент с пост-процесс оверлеем.

Am I the only one who hope that EDGE will run actually much faster and at the same time give better picture on the same hardware? :)

Have you played the Facon BMS? They did it in a similar fasion, they call it sticky cursor. When your cursor is on top of a virtual button it sticks to it, so when you move your head (but not the cursor) it stays on the same spot in cockpit. Up until the button is out of your view, or you moved your cursor. Very handy feature, and it was requested to ED before.

Could we expect to have OR SDK support in DCS? I mean Devkit version for those of us who have one?

Distance between virtual cameras ideally should be the same as between your pupils in real life. This setting is not about center of images.

Это и есть аркада, по тому что вижу - старый ред барон был по сути такой же игрой, только сделанной доступными в то время средствами.

Does anybody tried to run VorpX on Falcon BMS? Did it worked,and how well? I'm considering to buy this driver.

Я надеюсь что все больше и больше людей будут понимать это, вместо того чтобы хаять какой Трекир "политически нехороший". ТрекИр отполирован во всем: отличное железо, отличный софт, никаких хоботов с настройками :)

Thanks man! This is really helpful, I edited lights.lua a bit more, removed few more lights from A-10C and now FPS drop, reduced more than twice. And I don't need to turn all the lights off with lights=1 in options.lua. That will help me to survive till EDGE release :) and then I will look forward to build a nice desktop PC. Very nice! I'm not surprised, I just asked community for a help, maybe somebody know how I could avoid the issue. And I got the answer I looked for :) Currently I don't want to invest into new PC, but I will do it somewhere in the future, hopefully after EDGE release, when I would know for sure which specs to aim for.

Ok, so what. I have a version with 3GB VRAM Not true, my old machine have GeForce GTS 9800, and it performs much worse in DCS. With 3 gigs of VRAM it doesn't matter I have textures on low or high, also if I lover the resolution it doesn't influence much. Are you kidding me? I show you a screenshots where I easily have 30 - 40 fps with high scenes and high distance. Why should I lower them? I tried everything on low, but I still have FPS drop of 12-20 on turning external lights on A-10C.
