USMC_Trev, that makes sense. To bad though It would have been cool to do.

Why don't you see if you could build your own dirt airfield in the mission builder. I think that all you would have to do is find a suitable dirt road and place some of the vehicles near it that are normally used on the regular airfields for fueling and repairs. Or maybe I'm totally wrong, worth a try. Maybe I will try it later today.

Thanks all for helping me out with getting a video published to Youtube. I do have the Nvidia video card and saw the Shadowplay thing when it would update but I never paid any attention to it. It works great and uploaded to Youtube fine Thanks especially to cobra847 I will send you some rep for the help. If any one wants to watch the Heavy Weight and landing in the A-10c here is the shortcut. Pretty hard landing but I don't think I hurt anything. 64600 lbs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY4Q1BvpSrE

Example of my finished movie Here is what I end up with after making a movie with Fraps and Handbrake. I have tried all three modes in Handbrake. I am using an AVI file from the RAT in Mission Editor. Can anyone tell me why I am having such a problem?

I haven't used the mark spi option for the wing man before but when I tried to do it I marked my SPI and tried depressing the OSB button that said SPI off thinking that it would turn SPI on but it didn't. So what do you do to turn SPI on. I've never heard this term before.

I downloaded Handbrake and tried to convert the .avi files that I have. It appeared to have worked in converting the file to MP4, however the video is still screwed up and unseeable. I'm beginning to believe that DCS world Record AVI is not converting the .trk file into a usable .avi file. Can someone please try to convert a saved .trk file to .avi using record avi and let me know if they get a good video out of it. It would really help in trying to figure out if I am doing something wrong or is this broken in DCS world? Thanks for your time.

Record AVI problem So I have made a .avi movie that I recorded from a saved .trk file through the Mission Editor RAT. The audio is fine but the video is totally screwed. I left all adjustments at default values. Anyone know what my problem is. I can't upload the .avi because it doesn't appear to be an accepted format for the forum. I know a picture is worth a thousand words but I tried to upload it and at 27GB the forum wouldn't accept it.

So I have a .trk file that I want to share either on you tube or Facebook. Where do I start? Anyone care to help me in the right direction?

TMS-L/CMS/MIC/Pinky necessary? Where are the flaps buttons?
Pinefang replied to Archer7's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
TMS left resets all sensors of interests which I find I need quite often on the TGP. You need a functioning CMS switch to control countermeasures with and to power on your ECM. The pinky switch is for your external lights and the mic switch switches between VHF AM , VHF FM and UHF radios. In my opinion they are all needed and used on all missions. The A10C manual has a great breakdown of all of the HOTAS functions for both the Sick and Throttle buttons. It explains what each button long and short does and is printable. Flaps is left shift + F and are incremental at 10 deg, 20 deg and thirty deg. Then back up. They are essential. But like the previous post said get a HOTAS I have the Ch Products HOTAS and am very happy with it and have most all of my controls binded to them. I can add more if I need also. -
Zee Pet Thanks for your in depth explanation, you deserve some rep power. I concluded the same thing about the loss of travel through curving and saturation. I decided I needed to control the aircraft with its default controls travel so I removed them. It is hard to get used to the limits without any force feed back but I guess the warning horn will have to suffice. Thanks everyone for your feedback.
-
Thanks for the reply Kaiza I will bring the curves back to default and try and get used to a lighter pull on the stick and see if I can improve my stalling out.
-
Is this the reason that I would lose control when I bank hard and pull back on the stick hard? That is why I used the controller curves to restrict how far my elevators would deflect when I pulled back on the stick. I have much better control when jinking since doing this. Am I limiting aircraft performance by using the curve? Maybe I should just use a lighter touch on the stick?

"On the Range" Tutorial Series featuring the A-10C
Pinefang replied to Bunyap's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Bunyap you should see if the Mods would add your videos to the DCS A-10C wiki page. They are a goldmine of great information. Keep them coming. -
So here is my track file with the same load as the OP. Take off to landing. Close on the take off but plenty of room on the landing. Check it out. All views are available. I'm pretty sure there is daylight under the wheels at the end of runway. weight5.trk

Don't delete all of the files in the Saved Games Folder. It contains all of your saved controller assignments data, options in the game and many other files that have been modified from the original download. I would go into the Saved Games/DCS folder and one by one rename each folder and recreate it with the original name and start the game, the game will continue to hang until you do this to the correct folder. Once you find that folder you could just use the new one or you can go in and try and find what got changed and fix it.

Where did you make the adjustments for the HUD / Cockpit mod? Was it in the install folder or the Saved Game folder. It sounds like when it didn't work for you and you tried to change it back that one of the adjustments did not get changed back to its original setting and since you have repaired the installation my guess is that the culprit is in the saved games folder. Find the folder and correct the adjustment or delete the folder and recreate it, reload your game and it should be fine. But again delete folders only in the Saved Game/DCS.

Cichlidfan I knew I was going to get push back on this but all I know is that when I adjusted the X and Y saturation of the elevator did it stop. I'm not sure if there can be too much travel in the stick but that seems to be what I was experiencing. That is the best that I can explain it.

I had the same problem that you are describing and I found that some tweaks I had made in the Saved Game folder was outside of the acceptable limits of the game. For instance If you do the HUD mod to increase the size of the font in the hud its default setting is 73.5 but you can set it from 44.0 to 73.5 but any setting outside of that will cause the game to hang at the load screen. Also if you make changes within the main installation that are outside of the accepted default values the load will do the same thing. By the way update/repair does not change any of the settings in the saved game folder so if your error is in there you will have to find it and fix it or figure out which folder it is in and delete the folder, recreate it and run the game and the game will reload that folder with the correct info. That was the solution to my problem. Just make sure you are working in the saved games folder and not your main install folder, update/repair will fix that one. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry I didn't leave the question in but when I realized what the solution was I tried not to waste anyone's time with the post but it looks like that didn't happen. I wish you could delete a post once you realize you shouldn't have posted it. So here is the question/problem. When I jink at no matter what speed I immediately get the stall warning and the aircraft starts to shutter and I finally lose control. With enough altitude I can usually pull it out but it sucked having to go through this every time I had to go defensive or even try a tight turn. After watching my maneuvers from outside the cockpit I realized that the elevators where traveling to far. I adjusted the curves and can now jink with just the first warning without the stutter and loss of control now. Boris thanks for the info on the stall warning it seems to work pretty well.

I figured it out. Too much elevator. I reduced the travel the elevator was capable of doing.

Get a headset and get on Teamspeak then join the Hoggit tuesday night noob training missions. It is in the multiplayer servers under hoggit TNN. I usually get on about 6:15pm Pacific time but I think there are people on as early as 3:00pm Pacific. Here you can fly with other people that have a lot of different experience and plenty of people that are very welling to give you any and all the help you could want. Don't be afraid to ask for help for any thing you are having trouble with. See you there. Go to the Reddit sub reddit /Hoggit, there are full instructions there on how to get involved.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

The modern tech is most likely the reason. So much of the cockpit and systems are still secret. -
New / old mission for your plearsure
Pinefang replied to Pinefang's topic in User Created Missions General
You know there was a time that I would have to walk down that lonely dark road to the back gate at RAF Woodbridge after my shift around 1:00am so my wife could pick me up. I would hop the gate and walk out to the main road. The Rendlesham forest surrounded me on both sides. That is the darkest and quietest walk I have ever made. Just a little bit scary. As far as the UFO incident I truly believe that something went on that night however I was on leave and in the states when that went on. But get this when I got back after my leave no one talked about it and I didn't find out about it until I rotated back to the US and saw the show on the Discovery channel many years later. Go figure. Yes I did enjoy the one day of summer and the little flies on that summer day. I think my feet were wet from the day I got there until I rotated back to the US. lol
