  1. Speaking of bars.....I'm off to the bar, This thread will make sense to me drunk fella's
  2. Thanks for taking the time to add photos for real comparison
  3. BF3 quality physx would be nice for buildings blowing up as well as the particles that explode from missiles hitting tanks and choppers. Anyone who likes realistic sims has seen blastcore visuals in arma2. Wouldn't that kind of work be nice in dcs world, especially the way turrets fly of the T72's after a direct hit with a missile. Blastcore was invented long before physx became standard across the nvida board. Physx will also add realistic fire-balls from exploding vehicles, building etc etc. What is the point of having so much time and effort put into the cockpit in any simulator if the world and everything in it is of a much less quality. It would be like a re-badged FSX. Some really nice planes to fly by no where decent to fly them. Sure there are mod makers out there who have done some great terrain textures for DCS, although I am yet to come across a mod or developer that has added realistic explosions for buildings and objects. ORBX, Ground Environment and REX Essentials all changed the way sim owners viewed FSX. Maybe with the release of EDGE, these kind of devs can jump on board and release some nice stuff for DCS. Physx is a big player in any sim, and should be viewed in the same perspective whether dropping bombs from the air or blowing tanks and vehicles up in combined arms.
  4. And moving right along......Next topic of the day is "Are 3rd party modules of FC3 quality, going to drive up the cost of modules with DCS quality stamp of approval"?
  5. Anyone who purchased a legit copy of windows 8 receives the free update to Windows 8.1 from the Windows store. Updating from windows 8 to windows 8.1 is optional at this stage but updating from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 requires the consumer to purchase a copy of Windows 8 at full price (pro is currently $200 in Australia) About the only thing I see different is a start button as well as a fancy new background image, the store icons are the same but different colours now, same as my program icons in the start menu. The biggest change though is to the apps themselves. Weather now shows 3 different sat views of Australia etc etc. This is only an example of the store apps, I haven't bothered to look at the other apps
  6. Won't be the last 3rd party developer to announce a project, get everybody's hopes up, release a few images of the WIP and then pull the pin.
  7. Or have the dead zone set between 15 and 20% helps as well. I had a play with the curvature but some joysticks are quite sensitive like the warthog, so I have adjusted the dead zone to suit my prefrence. Now hitting the tanker is far easier for nozzle contact
  8. haha love it ENO
  9. Fair call, apologies for jumping the gun. I did not look at the fact the keyboard short-cut allows the switch to stay forward even when the EAC is not armed. I have always armed it with the mouse pointer and when something is wrong or I have forgotten something, it flicks itself off in the same way as the anti collision light switch does when I have not powered up the external lighting systems power. FYI the short-cut if you did not already know is "LEFT CRTL+P" to power up external lighting systems
  10. First rule of Fight Club: Don't move the aircraft until the NAV System is aligned (seperate to the EO Mav Power Alignment) It's not the code it's the operator who can't figure out how to fire up the EAC. The code is not the issue here, the problem is you don't understand the fundamentals in how to correctly boot up the navigation system. Once the MFD's are on and you have pressed "Load All" wait for the '*' to come back on then press CDU on the right MFD. You will see heaps of writing but the only thing to take note of is the where it says 'INIT POSITION" under that you will see a "T= *****" the * is numbers that are counting upwards. This is the alignment numbers. Don't press anything else in the right MFD other than the CDU page when you press "Load All" Keep on going with other systems such as Radio's etc. Wait for the numbers to reach 4.0 0.8 and it will flash "INS NAV READY" once this has happened press OSB-9 (NAV) on the right MSD then press the 'EGI' Navigation button on the centre console below the compass (directly in front of the Joystick) once you have done this, you will be able to arm the EAC and Radar Altimeter Button (both directly under the throttles) Then check the warning light panels for anything else that you have forgotten or don't know how to turn on. Before jumping to conclusions and blaming the coders\devs, take a bit of time out and read the flight manual. People are far to quick to jump on here and breathe fire when they have N.F.I what they are doing or how to go about doing something. If you still can't arm the EAC with the mouse pointer, You have moved the aircraft before the NAV system has reached 4.0 0.8 or you have pressed the NAV button, EGI or EAC before the Nav system has reached 4.0 0.8
  11. Thanks Viper I copied that into the keyboard.lua file, for some reason when I copied it over last night there were 2 copies of that line you have mentioned 1 after the other. I have just deleted both lines and copied yours exactly as you have and will let you know shortly how I went.
  12. Hi, I downloaded the LOF mod for the DCS F-18C AI airframe and am unable to extend or retract the tailhook. I copied the keyboard.lua from the SU33 across to the f-18c keyboard.lua and it does not work. I have exhausted all efforts with this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=95736&highlight=f-18c+tail+hook The link to the mod is found here http://www.lockonfiles.com/files/file/2640-f-18c-eagle-flyable/ Version 2.1 It's the same one the VFA-113 Stingers are using Cheers
  13. Landing on Texaco Already done :)
  14. Err this has been discussed over 1 hundred times in the Object Errors threads, search sunken aircraft.
  15. What I did was fly over the Mountain ridge, head toward the target waypoint where you hold before the target. This triggers the choppers, keep cycling F2 until you see the hinds and verify they are activated. As soon as they are activated, turn back toward the Mountain ridge but before you get to it, you will see on your left a small valley that you can hide in. It only allows you to fly into it approx 300mtrs but you will be out of site from the hinds. The hinds will fly up the main valley where the hold waypoint is and if they do not detect you or see you they will turn 180 degrees head back over the target and keep on flying. Use Time Compression if you want to speed up this process. Once they are approx 1Km away from the target you can consider yourself cleared hot as the 2 hinds will not attempt to turn back and shoot you down This is the only way I found after many countless attempts and breaking the engines trying to fly over the ridge line toward the target.
  16. Look on the bright side.....Think of it as Thrust Vectoring
  17. My thoughts exactly
  18. C17 Globemaster, B52 or C130
  19. Umm...Even my Cessna 150 can do barrel roles and split "s" repeatedly I want to see this plane released in DCS World
  20. Dear Sir, I am impressed with your work and love this bird just like I enjoyed the UH-1 on release. Flight dynamics are bang on in my book and I give total credit to all those involved with this project and the DCS series as a whole. Keep up the good work and look forward to many more years of enjoyment from the DCS series
  21. This object is listed in the Encyclopedia but not able to be added as a helicopter group or as a static object. Does not exist other than the encyclopedia
  22. unable to cold start from moving ships with out rolling off the back, AI aircraft that land on moving aircraft carriers will roll off into the water once stopped
  23. Another thing of mentions is, set 2 AI apache's to attack ground infantry group, they fly toward it, once they begin getting shot at, they take evasive action and then head for armoured targets miles away from the ground infantry and the zone I told them to fly into
  24. i'd be happy with paratroopers. working c-17 or c-130 rear cargo door and paratroopers spawning at 3Metre intervals with parachutes
