Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The A-6 would be awesome, just like the F-4 (especially with the newly announced engine smoke trails). The soon-to-be-released MiG-21Bis would be a worthy opponent for the F-4. The Vietnam jungle may prove to be a framerate killer though. -

Run like smoke 'n oakum. A decent ATC would be nice, just as and thermal effects causing turbulence (not to mention prop-/jetwash). Getting into an aerobatics trainer earlier this week made me aware again of how bumpy a ride can be ... -

The complaints regarding this kind of thread remind me of the tension build-up before a good concert. Some go in early and enjoy the friendly atmosphere at the bar and stage, some just do a quick in and out. Don't complain if you don't like the pre-update atmosphere ... you've entered prematurely (and in the wrong place). -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Lightning II. I'm starting to like this new kid on the block. On Monday I had the pleasure of meeting and joining a RNLAF major on a civilian flight, who is flight test engineer for the JSF. For Falcon, there's already the great Falcon BMS 4.32 community. Super Hornet and Strike Eagle are already in the making for DCS: World. Tomcat would be my 2nd choice because of it's iconic variable sweep-wing design and interesting flight characteristics. IRIS may be doing it I hope ... they did a good job for FSX. -
What type of aircraft are you most interested in?
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to Rammit's topic in DCS Wishlist
... because "all we really got is each other" and we need to go after SAM city :joystick: You could fly this in DCS: World with a friend sitting next to you, acting as bomber/navigator. And the carrier based operation is appealing. -
B-17s?
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to Silver_Dragon's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Still beats flying a Cessna Skyhawk in FSX ... It's not called Digital Modern Combat Simulator after all. -
Time to kill those B-17s that are attacking our families ... You're right ... official update is appreciated at some point.

Looks like a test flight to check gun firing animation. I see no harm in posting some progress on the "Dora" once and again, but of course I hope posting this video was done intentionally (as some kind of "Easter egg", to keep us fanboys sharp).
-
I see someone has been enjoying himself with a flight from Batumi in a Fw 190 D with HUD ... whahaha The spent cartridge animation looks nicely done, just needs a little tweaking to prevent cartridges from seemingly entering the cockpit. Make them bounce off the cockpit.

The August 2nd Wags Update! Thread
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to Silver_Dragon's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I had to troll through your post as well, wanting to read opinions on the update. Please allow some pre-update anticipation excitement. It's a hot Friday evening ... grab a cool beer and relax. -

My wishlist being EDGE and Dora updates, Zero announcement ... -
Wagner! No MW50 gauge in that cockpit :noexpression: lol

Or parts shortage at the end of the war? The instrument panel was originally made of aluminium, but at the end of the war plywood was used. Found some German spelling mistakes (in the in-flight pictures some of the mistakes are gone), listed below. Main instrument panel: Notzug für bedien-Getr. → Bedien-Getr. Achtung KompaBeinstellring verstellt sich → Kompaßeinstellring (ß → Alt 0223) Left instrument panel: Frequenz-wahlschalter → Frequenz-Wahlschalter Right instrument panel: Kraftstollpumpen → Kraftstoffpumpen On throttle: Drehzahl Grober Kleiner → Größer (ß → Alt 0223, ö → Alt 0246) Missing the "Aus" on the bomb fusing panel, see picture below. Source: http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/fw190cockpit/CockPitMap.html Would like to add space to MG131, MG151 on the shot counter control panel → MG 131 and MG 151 (see picture below). Also add shot counters as in picture below. And finally ... no MW50 switch on this Fw 190A-8, but prop pitch selector (automatic or manual, where the propellor pitch was manually set using the thumbswitch on the throttle). Looks like this switch could have had various functions ...

The switch was used to enable the MW50. The original design MW50-supply was to be controlled by a contact on the throttle (full throttle contact). The switch was necessary because the reservoir for the special MW-mix could also be used as spare-reservoir for regular fuel. In that case, the switch should be "AUS" ("OFF"). Otherwise, at full throttle (contact made), regular fuel would be pumped into the air intake.

MW50 (50% Methanol, 49.5% Water, 0.5% oil - emergency booster) gauge for reference ...

Interesting read ... thank you! Regarding the Fw.190D cockpit layout; the 3 left-most instruments layout match the top row of the Einheits-Blindfluggerätetafel (Basic 6) of the Luftwaffe, so it suggests the VSI should indeed be directly to the right of the artificial horizon. This also matches the Classic Hangar version of the Fw.190D (FSX model, still going strong), see picture below.

I think we got your point quite clearly, don't worry. Just hope starting the engine won't be anything like . Imagine getting the right inertia of the flywheel by means of mousewheel turns ... As far as historical accuracy; I would like to see the Swastika included on the tail, but I'm afraid the world is not ready for that step. Regarding the EZ 42; it better matches the P-51D, even though not many German planes were outfitted with gyro sights.

Awesome new cockpit pictures ... thank you Wags! Notice how minimalist the cockpit layout looks compared to the P-51 ... I'm liking the quote "Verkauft's mei G'wand, I foahr in Himmel" ("Sell my clothes, I'm going to heaven"); words famously uttered by a dying Ferdinand Sauter (Austrian poet), and used on his plane by Heinz Sachsenberg. Plane should have designation "1" instead of "12", since it's the "Sachsenberg Schwarm" squadron leader himself. Nice paintscheme with red and white belly, making it easier for German FLAK-crews to distinguish bewteen friend and foe. For reference, © art by Thomas A. Tullis.

40 long winters ... Remember playing , The Last Ninja and ACE: Air Combat on C64 with a tape-deck (tweaking the read/write-head with a screwdriver, hoping the game would load). And cutting 5 1/4" floppys to double the capacity from 360 kB to a whopping 720 kB. You would need 8342 of those to fit DCS: World. Still have a crush on slave Leia (even though she's turned into a lesbian).

It ain't over till the fat lady sings. I really like the TM concept of interchangeable sticks. Would love to see more 3rd party sticks for the base, in addition to the FSSB mod.

I was looking forward to this add-on, which seems pretty much canned now. It seems some of you take pleasure in posting negatively towards a company that is actually trying to expand the scope of our mutual hobby. Glad to hear you are still working on the model! And ... Phantom!

Danke!

Damage from my guns on FW190
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to Ratfink's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
[/url] Indeed there was the Junkers Jumo 213 inline powerplant in the "Dora" ... the outer appearance kept suggesting radial, although noselength visibly to allow room for the larger inline engine. The tail was lenghtened to compensate for shifted weight balance because of the heavier engine. The wingspan also increased.
