Since Turkey owns the bridges, I don't think they'll change things to accommodate the US carriers...;) This is just one more reason why DCS needs more maps that are in places that really can support US Carrier ops...
It seems that American Aircraft Carriers maybe too tall to fit under the bridges of the Bosphorus straight which is the only channel into and out of the Black Sea, and the clearance of the bridges from sea level is 64 m (210 ft), according to Wikipedia. The Carriers are about are about 215 feet tall according to: https://www.answers.com/Q/How_tall_is_a_Nimitz_class_aircraft_carrier
It may have been an intentional choice to make it this way, but it is far from realistic. Also, changing the slider you're referring to would cause all the external sounds to go too quiet. Please go to the external view and scroll away from the jet for several miles and you'll see this is not supposed to be...;)
I was flying the F-18 and got hit by a missile. Everything was OK and I started heading back home, but after a minute or so I started losing consciousness. I was flying straight and level below 10k feet and even popped the canopy to let the fresh air in, but I still faded away and never came back...
Thank you for you effort, but it did help me to stumble on the correct key combo...the correct answer is....SHIFT TAB. This will give you a window with a switch to select your side only or all sides to chat to...
SHIFT TAB is the correct key combo...;)
I've been trying to use Text Chat in Mission, but nothing works. I hit the ~ key...nothing...I hit the ~+RCtrl key...nothing. The only thing that works is the TAB key can toggle the Text Chat window, but I can't use it...What the heck is going on?
If you take note. There are five aircraft that spawn before me and my group. Yet, I still spawn right on top of the S-3's...The picture shows what happened. The mission file is also included...
I like to start my missions on a carrier cold & dark. However, I can't park anywhere I want, and I'm always next to the forward catapults and get rammed by my own planes...

I have the Oculus CV1 headset. I decided to play with the in game IPD setting and take them to the extremes to see what happens. I set the IPD as low as 10 and as high as 200. I flew the F-15C and at the low settings, the cockpit was huge! I looked like I was in a small room and standing on the seat. At the highest settings the cockpit looked like it was a helmet wrapped around my face. It was hilariously ridiculously small. Try it and you'll laugh!
It seems that calling it an IPD adjustment is inaccurate. It's more like a World Scale adjuster...
The escort mission should allow them to escort Land and Naval vehicles. I've tried to get a helicopter to fly formation with the CVN since that's what they really do in case a pilot fails to land or depart properly...But, even if the helicopter is set to the same course and speed it doesn't stay put...it goes off ahead or behind the CVN...
I tried to launch a bunch of F-14A flights from the carrier, but they would sweep there wings forward when they start up and damage themselves because the wings would hit nearby aircraft.
There wing sweep behavior needs to be corrected for Carrier ops...;)
F-14A AI Error.trk
The castle hat switch doesn't work very well when I pull it down (button #9 in the pdf). It doesn't engage the internal switching mechanism and consequently nothing activates...
Anyone else having this problem with their's?
You're right. So, in the spirit of, "It isn't that big a deal." Lets completely remove the GUI entirely and learn to manipulate the game in pure machine language...because, "it isn't that big a deal..." :bash:
I guess I want more AI helicopters, and aircraft. They wouldn't be nearly as time consuming and difficult to make as full system flyable aircraft. But, yes! Yes, I will absolutely ask...;)
