Mission 5 of the Gazelle Campaign...In this mission, you're tasked to go out and find a convoy and destroy a specific vehicle in it and mop up the rest. There is no picture of the target (or even one like it) nor the target area, there is no point of origin or destination or route shown on a map of the convoy, yet they tell you it's going to pass WP8 at 1:20AM and 32.25 seconds. When Meatboy1 spots the target, he doesn't bother to give a bearing and distance to target, so you have no idea where to look. This is the kind of stuff that makes for fantasy missions and not realistic missions...pure frustrating BS. I realize that there are limitations to the game engine and the knowledge and imagination of mission developers. It's just super frustrating...

I don't know where to put this, but I'm noticing that the mission briefings are pretty poor. Filled with all kinds of inaccurate information. Is this on purpose? Military Intelligence Oxymoron in action?

The more, the merrier...;)

I want Navy Phantoms, so I can do to them what I did to another flight sims F-4B & J's. I made the skins for every single Navy and Marine Squadron in high resolution. In fact, I made several different versions of each Squadrons markings...;)

The F-110 isn't a different aircraft from the F-4. The then SecDef, Robert McNamara, instituted Aircraft Redesignations in 1962. Prior to the re-designation, the Navy and Air Force each had their own way of designating aircraft and they were different from each other. McNamara wanted to have all services follow the same designation policy and ordered all services to follow the same policy. This caused all Navy aircraft to adopt new designations. Also, since the Navy developed the Phantom, they also got to name it. As such, the Air Force was forced to keep the F-4 Phantom designation, but since theirs were slightly different from the Navy's F-4B version, they could call them F-4C. So, the USAF F-4C is the same aircraft that the Air Force wanted to call F-110A Specter, prior to the Secretary of Defense's military aircraft designation policy change in 1962.

[OLD BUG REPORTS] Cleaning and Organization of old posts
mytai01 replied to RAZBAM_ELMO's topic in Resolved Bugs
After going over the manual more, I have to say that it seems that there are a lot of small errors that I can only attribute to having been written by a non-native English speaker. It's still understandable and isn't impossible to figure out what was intended. It just needs a little editing... -

I have found a spelling error, or reference to a new powerful weapon in the M2000C...Cockpit Lightning!!! Yes! LIGHTNING! (I've included a screen shot of the manual). How does one use Cockpit Lightning? Is it effective? What are the dangers involved? :megalol: -
Has any work been done on the A/G radar modes???
-
Please require all aircraft developers to put the date of their current version of their flight manuals on the front cover...and keep a master list of the latest dates for each manual on this website...It could be printed on the aircraft's web page heading.
-
I never meant to ask when it's coming out, but rather how long have they already been working on it? It seems pretty far along...
-
Just like the title says...

I frequently find that when I try to select a pilot controlled radar mode to lock a target there is no response on the screen. It seems to change modes, but I can't see anything in the HUD! No moving diamond scanning the HUD...

I intentionally landed gear up to test the repair function. Everything gets repaired. The problem is that the aircraft isn't reset to an "on the ground status" like other aircraft are. The landing gear is still up and the aircraft isn't even elevated high enough for the gear to clear the ground. The aircraft is dropped on it's belly and sinks into the ground. What's going on with this???
-
Not Cool...

I had this happen to me as well. One Crtl+E and I was gone. I was trying to open the canopy...;)
-
I ran out of gas and glided back to base, but couldn't get the gear down before I landed. So, the gear collapsed and I skidded to a stop. I requested repair and they did the usual 170 sec count down and repaired everything except the landing gear. It was still in a collapsed position. When they dropped my plane down to the ground again it exploded!!! Clearly, the repair function excludes landing gear problems of every kind! Not just the failure to reset the Emergency Landing Gear Handle and its consequences.

It also isn't indicating the unit of speed either! Knots or Kph...

I've included a picture of the error I'm reporting. As you can see by the picture, there is Lat, but no Long in the information display. This is the Beta Version of DCS...

DCS World Beta: The Tu-160 will not attack designated ground objects using it's cruise missiles. I tried to get it to attack a hanger on the Nevada map, but it ignored the attack commands I established in the ME and just flew it's way points from take off to landing...no launch of cruise missiles... UPDATE: I got the thing to launch using the "Bombing" command in advance way point actions. It occurred to me that it would be nice if options that were not going to work were grayed out and unselectable. That would go along way to eliminating confusion as to what one should select for each type of weapon...;) UPDATE AGAIN: The Tu-160 only has one set of weapons in DCS, 12xKh-65's. Each one can be independently targeted, but it's most efficient to make sure the targets are in the same general launch direction. Just put 12 "Bombing" commands in the same Way point advanced actions and you'll get the results you probably want...have fun!

Why is there an ACM switch in the first place? What's the point?
-
Try that with 2x Su-27 with a full missile load...
-
Here's a track of my attempt to shoot down a pair of Su-27, but Jester wouldn't give me a lock, or I couldn't see the lock on my HUD... F-14B Problem Lock On.trk Be patient...I fly away from the action till my systems are up. Also, the track may not work right...as usual...;)
