  1. I went full Matrix in the F-14. I couldn't make out any details...
  2. I have tried several missions and Jester won't lock non-hostel targets so that a missile can be fired at them from BVR...SEVERAL times...It does not work...
  3. Any aircraft has it's strengths and weaknesses. Tactics are developed to maximize the one and minimize the other. If you don't know how to use it the way it's intended, then you will not be as successful as you could. With that being said, newer doesn't necessarily mean better...
  4. That sounds like real life...F-15 drivers used to refer to the F-14 as the turkey...
  5. It's a question, not a complaint, or a demand...thank you!
  6. Jester has a real problem with not locking obvious hostel aircraft. Even after they lock us up and shoot at us, and RWR showing 2x29's, and he's calling, "nails," he refuses to lock them up. That is crazy!!! I started the jet up and took off as soon as physically possible. I didn't wait for anything. I told Jester, "Go Now" as soon as the second engine came online. I disconnected and taxied out and took off. INS came up before engagement. The two 29's never showed hostel on the radar, so it seems that Jester will not lock an unknown target even though every thing else says hostel. This can't be realistic...
  7. So, what is the delay in releasing the A model? Still working on the engine?
  8. If you have a Warthog Throttle and want to use your AB detent block to go into and out of AB in the F-14, then here's the throttle settings that work on mine: 0, 5, 15, 15, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100...use slider setting also.

  9. There is a spelling error at the end of the Pilot Start Up Training session. The instructions say that you can do some, "taxying" around? The correct spelling is, "taxiing." Two "I's" and no "Y's."
  10. I went out of my way to engage them and they finally gave chase. I couldn't shake them, or turn around fast enough to shoot them in the face. Lesson: keep them in front, or die...
  11. I made a mission on the Nevada map ( DCS World beta) with 2x fully armed AI Su-27 coming out of Creech going to a CAP station Northeast. My Tomcat is departing Groom Lake. I run an intercept of the Flankers, but they never attack. Even if I fly right next to them! All settings on the Flankers should have them very aggressive, but they're not. So, I changed my aircraft to the F/A-18. As soon as I raise my gear a missile flies off my rail. I thought, "that's weird," and I go F2 to see which missile launched off my plane just in time to see a Flanker zoom past me! Holy smokes! They're super aggressive now, but not against the Tomcat. Something is wrong here...
  12. Only one way to find out!
  13. Honestly, without binoculars you really can't ID fighter sized or smaller targets more than one mile away. In fact, we were working a C-130 today and I was watching it without binoculars and it was five miles away and I couldn't say that it looked like anything but a dark blob (Not a vision problem). So, even a large aircraft at five miles in not necessarily identifiable. Perhaps a huge aircraft like a C-17, or C-5 could be ID'd that far out, but not smaller...
  14. My point is that fighters and even bigger aircraft appear much smaller in real life than most people realize. The sky is very big and airplanes are really small. It can be hard to see airliners even 5 miles away at times...However, Contrast created by light from the sun reflecting off of the aircraft back to the observer makes more difference than any other factor in seeing aircraft...no matter what color the paint job is...including gray! (I'm not talking about glint from the sun bouncing off windscreens either, just contrast). I do it for a living...I know! I've included one of my personal photos of a pair of F-15's that are about 1 mile away from me in a photo with no zoom...this is how they look at about 1 mile...
  15. In Windows 7 Pro go to Control Panel>Devices and Printers>"right click" on Thurstmaster HOTAS WARTHOG Joystick>select game controller settings>then select joystick>press the Properties Button. Then find the button on the joystick that activates "button 7." No matter what you bind to it in game, it only zooms your view...
  16. WE NEED NAPALM!!!
  17. Well, it's capable of doing it. I wouldn't want to restrict it just because it's a Navy rule...It's up to the player if they want to follow Navy rules about it...BTW, I tried to simulate an afterburner takeoff with an engine failure on takeoff. I ran off the runway and couldn't control it. It is uncontrollable in single engine AB...
  18. Well, that might be a bit too much...;) At least he should salute before he goes!
  19. I gave him an order to lock a target and he refused! I know the Tomcat can lock an unidentified target, so Jester is refusing an order and I want him court marshalled!!!
  20. Over the years DCS has gotten better with external sounds, but they have need of a better overall sound engine. As it stands, I bet they could do a much better job of it, but I bet there would be severe penalties in terms of overall game performance. The hit on cycles might be too unacceptable to everyone.
  21. The external sound of the DCS F-14 is far too loud! It's many times louder than a real F-14 especially at idle power...
  22. PROBLEM: The Right Mouse Click to activate the Emergency Landing Gear Handle is a bad idea. First, it gives the pilot a 50% chance that he'll screw up and "Right Click" the handle instead of "Left Click" it. Second, it is so close to the Spoiler/Anti-Skid switch which can be activated by a "Right Click" that sometimes the pilot misses the switch and accidentally activates the Emergency Landing Gear Handle by unintentionally. Third, Once the Emergency Landing Gear Handle is activated the only way to correct the situation is to Re-Start the Mission!!! SOLUTION: My strongly suggested correction to this problem is: First, change the activation of the Emergency Landing Gear Handle to a "Mouse Wheel Roll" to turn the Handle Then "Left Click" the Handle to lower it...No "Right Click" at all. Second, fix the Repair Functions to include the Emergency Landing Gear Handle activation... Thank you!
  23. Rear Left Console middle dial...;)
  24. The zoom button on the Warthog can't be bound to any game functions. It only zooms. What can I do? :(
