  1. Was determined to find the tank so I spent a good 20 mins looking at every leaf on every tree. spotted something after those 20 mins spamming between IR and day sights and sure enough it was the tracks of the tank. Point is, without completely abusing some kind of function its pretty much impossible to find that tank. I didn't play with the AI to see if it would engage but there should be absolutely no way that the Abrams or T80 could see each other without some kind of movement or signature (dust, engine noise noise, hot tracks etc.) (coming from the prospective of an armored vehicle crewman).
  2. Reposting here from the DCS roadmap:
  3. something that caught my attention was how he mentioned the map was 3.2 MILLION square kilometers. I know google earth isn't the best tool to find distances but here is a picture of what 3.2 million km looks like. Both the circle and the square is roughly 3.2 million km. I would love to see what areas are actually covered by the map! this would make our long range aircraft struggle to fly peak to peak.
  4. Had a quick question about the Rift S. Is it possible to reduce the amount of "jiggling" when looking around? I hardly notice it until I put on a HMD in an aircraft and it becomes very apparent. I'm curious if this is just a Rift S thing or its across all VR platforms.
  5. everyone is talking about how long till it releases but forgets that it will take just as long to download lol
  6. from my recollection, the tomcat almost broke the forums when it released (definitely crashed Heatblur's website)
  7. If you are new to the mission editor, you can insert a new aircraft with the button in the screenshot with the red arrow on the left side (or click on the yellow aircraft symbol if there is already a mission created). From there you can select the type of aircraft from the drop down menu located with the brown arrow on the right side. from there you can make a new loadout from the loadout tab located with the red crosshair and create a new loadout with the New button on the bottom left located with the blue arrow. From there you can select each weapon you would like to take by right clicking on the pilon slot circled red. hope this helps out! I know It took me a while learning how to create missions with the editor
  8. you can find the individual missions under "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\P-47D-30\Missions\Single" (or DCS World. I just happen to use the open beta version). Copy all the missions from there and post them into "C:\Users\your username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions" and from there you will be able to edit the mission to use the P-47D-40
  9. If you have purchased the P-47 you will have the P-47D-30, P-47D-30 (early) and the P-47D-40. The P47D-40 is the variant that can carry rockets. If you open the mission editor, you will be able to select the 40 variant of the P-47 and equip them with rockets under the loadout tab. The preset missions must have the earlier versions of the P-47 so you cannot equip rockets, however if you edit the mission, you will be able to select the P-47D-40 and use the rockets.
  10. the post that GS Bot made above the post made by Growling Sidewinder has two green boxes. The one below the member check with the numbers is the one you press to join. Hope this helps EDIT: the one circled in blue
  11. I'm sure when they have information worth sharing, they wont hesitate telling us.
  12. The white box is an indication that the weapon is ready but has to current target or there is no more ordinance on that station. For the AGM-65's you will have a white box until a target is tracking with the maverick seeker, then the box will turn green when it is tracking and ready to fire. For the Mk-82's and other bombs the box should be green indicating that it is ready to drop and will only turn white when the bomb is in the process of coming off the rack. When there is a solid white box with bombs it means that that station is selected but there is no more ordinance on that rack. I don't think this is in the manual and this is just my guess, but i believe that the box turns white when you release a bomb on a rack with multiple bombs on that rack. It changes color because the aircrafts system is switching to the next bomb on the rack until there is no more ordinance left Hope this helps
  13. The Cobra is in development, and the Apache is coming to DCS (we have no information on when development will start or if it is currently in development as it is far out, but coming eventually). The development of DCS aircraft is based upon what information can be acquired. Eagle Dynamics is a company that was originally founded in Russia so I'm assuming the information available to them started there with the Ka-50. The Mi-8 and UH-1H was developed by Belsimtek which merged with Eagle Dynamics a few years ago and those aircraft are easy to find information on because they are used by civilian agency's so not much (if any) of the information is classified. Systems in the UH-60 and AH-64 are still very classified and I'm sure it is difficult process to secure licenses to produce these products. ED doesn't produce an aircraft because they haven't considered it, but rather on the information and licensing they can obtain.
  14. I do believe they had mentioned somewhere that they were going focus on getting all their aircraft on becoming feature complete rather than pumping out new modules. I don't have a source for this but I had seen it mentioned in the comments of one of their YouTube videos.
  15. Well i'm glad i wasn't the only one who thought the oxygen consumption was off. Great find Voyager!
  16. I'm not sure this is a bug, but the P-47 only seems to have about 30-40 mins of oxygen to use before it runs out. I would assume that an aircraft that was known for good high altitude performance would have more than just 30 to 40 mins of time up at altitude. I can only make it across the channel (Normandy map) before it runs out of oxygen which seems highly unlikely.
  17. GBU-24's don't work and ED is the ones who are in charge of fixing it.
  18. Refueling the Su-33 is my vote. not that its hard to do (if trimmed out properly) but it takes forever to finish fueling that thing.
  19. I appreciate all the responses! From what i'm getting, the Rift S is the best headset for beginning VR as it offers the best quality for the price. However, would you all recommend saving for a Pimax or something of that caliber for the better resolution? or just stick with the tried and true Rift S?
  20. Well i agree with the idea of the Gazelle flight model not being fluid like other helicopter models, but this statement is just bold... How many flight models have you coded for flight sims?
  21. Ok, so I've been flying in ED sims for quite some time now (Since FC1), and been using track IR for a little over 4-5 years now. I believe that the next step up should be a VR headset now that its moved on from a developmental stage. SO that being said, for those who own them what are some of the benefits of the different headsets when it comes to DCS? Im considering the Rift S and The HTC Vive because those seem to be the most popular when it comes to DCS. But what are you all's opinions on these headsets and the various others that are on the market? Would it be a downgrade from using a 3440 X 1440 monitor with trackIR?
  22. This bug has already been reported. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=254907
  23. If the repair function is in LOMAC (haven't played it in a blue moon) then you can do it by pressing "" then f8 for ground crew and request repair. The airport has to be the same side as your coalition and your engines have to be fully shut down. Hope that helps
  24. Navigate, man weapons systems, help with adjusting autopilot etc... there are plenty of reasons that a second person should be in the cockpit.
