  1. Suggest a "K" CPU to not overclock him. :surprise: Thank you for the joke. Your computer makes do with what? Please, explain what we don't know for many years. :worthy:
  2. By your experience? How do you know your DCS uses 9GB of RAM with your 8GB? It has nothing to do with the MP.
  3. In term of GPU performance, the x70 serie of the new generation is similar (it's almost the same GPU) to the x80 serie of the older one. Then, GTX780 to GTX970 to GTX1060. Almost the same performance (fps), but you will have more Vram. Is that true?
  4. See at 6:13 As you see, you need more than 8GB of RAM and 4GB of VRAM. Sorry for bad news. Gaming motherboards have stronger DIGI/VRM to feed the CPU at higher frequency. And more options... Pro SSDs are more expensive because they are faster and last longer.
  5. Something like: Gigabytes Z370 AORUS Gaming 5 or Ultra Gaming. Asus Prime Z370-A, STRIX Z370-E Gaming or F Gaming. No, DDR3 RAM and DDR4 are not compatible. Maybe buy 16Gb of DDR4 for your new pc, see how it run. Arctic Freezer 7 PRO Rev.2: The TDP is 115w, the max cooling is 150w. On paper, that look ok. Try it. 8600K or drop your girl and get a 8700K.
  6. On the budget? 8600K, 16GB, Samsung 250GB NVMe, 1080. Gigabytes Z370 AORUS Gaming 5 or Ultra Gaming, Asus Prime Z370-A. Seasonic FOCUS Plus Gold 750w (10 years). At 1.94Ghz: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/kzwqqs/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1080-8gb-aorus-xtreme-edition-video-card-gv-n1080aorus-x-8gd

  8. The most critical question to a multicore support is, what tasks can be run asynchronous?
  9. Update the BIOS and the drivers for the motherboard chipset. Update all the hardware drivers, if updates are available from your manufacturer.
  10. That was the winter sale, from Dec 2017 (post #123) to Feb 2018 (post #12). https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3368158#post3368158
  11. It's ok. It's the addiction. Welcome in the club.
  12. Any comments and opinions are welcome. The point is to inform the OT, and then he'll take the final decision. Thank you  to all helpful pilots in this forum.
  13. Just a little note. Maximum power has nothing to do with longevity/quality and future proof. Look at the warranty. The 8600K is the best choice ($$) to play DCS. ED engine doesn't use the hyper-threading technology.
  14. The best future proof computer is the one you will buy in 5 years :clown_2: Future proof in computers is a clown spelling.
  15. Do the math: CPU =130w MoBo=60w 1080Ti=250w RAM (2 modules)=6w So, 450w+ for one card, 700w+ for SLI. With a 1000w psu, your at 45%+ or 70%+ system load. Note the throttling at +4.8Ghz (cb Score). It cannot dissipate heat quickly enough. Don't forget, DCS need less than 2 cores, he (8700K 6 cores) will never need 130w to run.
  16. A psu should run in the range of his high efficiency, the top of the dome. Around 20% to 75% load for the HXi. Still at 90% over 75% load. At 75% load (900w) he will generate 89w of heat. High end psu can run higher than average psu. The recommended psu (by NVIDIA) for a 1080Ti is 600w (with a i7 3.2Ghz). 850w for SLI. With a high end CPU (8700K) or a high overclock video card, expect something little bigger...https://seasonic.com/wattage-calculator
  17. Yes, HD "suspended" by rubber band, cord, shoelaces or whatever is an old trick for total silence. Almost the same for the fans.
  18. 4) 1200w psu is for a quad SLI config. 1000w for Triple SLI. The level of efficiency of the psu is chosen in function of the total wattage draw by your pc. Bronze for one video card, gold for two, ...
  19. No (page 16) : http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/TUF_Z370-PRO_GAMING/TUF_Z370-PRO_GAMING_Memory_QVL_report_20170927.pdf?_ga=2.59271471.324849203.1516063526-742818865.1490917776In I know one rule. Is that working? Yes? Do nothing, and don't even think of doing something.
  20. What is your rig? Recent or old? Why don't you purchase 2x4GB, 2x8GB or 2x16GB later? DCS run ok with 16GB. Sticks of RAM are sold in pairs at the speed/timing announced and warranted. They cross their finger for you... Oups..LoL...EDIT.
  21. The 8700K run at 4.7Ghz on turbo mode...
