Upgrading PC for NTTR/2016 Games
Demon_ replied to Goldsmack's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Your power supply is only 1 year old, and probably good for 2-3 more years with this low power card. The best, rare and more expensive are the Seasonic, the X-series, the XFX (made by Seasonic), Corsair AX (except the 1200w) made by Seasonic. Psu made by SuperFlower (for Europe) are great too. PC Power & Cooling. Channel Well, Delta, Flextronics, FSP are good too. " Premium quality Japanese capacitors with 105 °C rating increase overall reliability and extend product life" Warranty 7 years. Look for the warranty, 7-5-3 years. http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/psu_manufacturers http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm -
Upgrading PC for NTTR/2016 Games

Don't worry. The Gtx970 need only 145w and 2x 6 pins connectors (2x75w). The reason for the 8 pins connector (150w) is for the overclocking potential. The 4 pins connectors can delivery 60w each. So 75w (6pins) + 120w (8pins) = 195w in totale. The 6 pins, 8 pins and the 4 pins connectors use the same +12v rail. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_970_gaming_review,7.html The bad news: Your power supply (made by Andyson) is probably a tier 5 (bad quality). You will have to replace it, one day or another. The good: Fortunately your video card is not hungry. -
With a i5 6600k and a good cooler. A Samsung 850 (SSD) and a Seasonic 7200.14.

Canada? Shipping is free: http://www.directcanada.com/ Shipping is $8-$12: http://www.memoryexpress.com/ You pay one taxe (federal) They both have the "price beat request" except during Christmas time. After 14 order, had no problem. They are fast, no need to spend for a faster delivery. I think they proceed 150 order every day. -

NVIDIA: Look for the amount of CUDA cores, the frequency of the GPU. (The texture fill rate) The memory clock, the memory interface width. (the memory bandwidth) Maybe you will have to lower some setting because of the 3GB of Vram, but the FPS will be greater than the Gtx960. But at your resolution (1680x1050) i think you will be ok. Forget the RAM and find a better graphic card for now. -
Where do textures go? To RAM or VRAM?

Does the game have a memory link problem? -
i5 6600K with a good cooler if you can overclock to 4.4-4.6Ghz. Hyper-threading is useless for gaming. The extra 2MB cache is not worth the extra spending. At the same speed they will perform similar for gaming.

I run 420w of video cards in a Cooler Master HAF X. I can't imagine a smaller case during hot summer days.

Tri monitors or 48" Curved TV
Demon_ replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
One monitor/tv is always better than a 3 monitors setup. To get rid of the bezels. :crash: A 3 monitors (landscape) setup give you too much field of view on the side, and not enough at the vertical. A 3 monitors setup in portrait mode give you almost the same ratio than one monitor. 3 27" in portrait mode give you 47" in diagonal. -
Ultra wide curved monitors and DCS

Forget the tiny SSD and get a Seagate 7200.14 1TB.

In graphic settings, set "Monitors" to 1 screen, not 3 screen. Or moved the monitors to your side.
-
None of them are good for you. Just purchase a normal version. Look at the frequency of the GPU, the fastest at a reasonable price. Anyway, you will see no difference in performance. A gamer needs a new graphic card every 5 years, save your money. You connect the radiator to the rear fan. You need to have a 120mm rear fan.
